Ah wait. I got it now. Benderrules was talking about the Web 2.0. The version we currently have and our using.

The original internet was just text. The internet that the message was sent on and led people to improve upon this design.

"Sorry Folks, but the USA does not invent everything. Especially not the internet. The CERN labs in Switzerland (near Geneva) invented it."

I`m not seeing anything about CERN Labs creating the internet. Besides, it was the first message sent via internet. Also, the USA doesn`t create everything, we just come up with the idea.

Sorry Folks, but the USA does not invent everything. Especially not the internet. The CERN labs in Switzerland (near Geneva) invented it. Not saying that this didn`t take place...however, if you read up on CERN...you will come away enlightened. Just trust me on this... :)

That was interesting, but a little long and boring. He should`ve edited the video down some.

It`s also interesting to know that I`m 2 days older than the internet.

What a douche with horrible style. He films it in the way of an epic quest across continents, yet he only stays around UCLA, THE SCHOOL HE ATTENDS"

"Ok I get it! Al Gore (being a politician) banged Doodally and she birthed it from her very loins"

Not as such. As a senator, Gore was instrumental in procuring government funding that lead to the creation of the World Wide Web. When he said this in an interview, conservatives somehow turned it into "I invited the Internet."

Think I`m wrong? Go look up the actual quote.

I thought it was very good. I think the whole point was to show that we love and use the internet, but not many people know how it all started.
The guys dramatic nature reminded me of Les Stroud in Survivorman.

I found his remark about pop culture rather hypocritical considering the internet is, in this authors opinion, the single largest pop culture icon in history. The internet has surpassed movies and television by leaps and bounds. No other cultural tool in the world brings people together like the internet. It provides us not only with entertainment and education like TV and movies, but gives us an outlet and a voice while providing each user a false sense of security and anonaminaty to express that voice.

mystreT - the tubes actually transmit the code, which the internet itself isn`t a physical thing. It`s not like a hampster which can run through tubing. xD

Sorry for double posting.
Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf stated that no one person, or group were responsable for the birth of the internet, not Al Gore, not anyone. Everyone who has contributed should be accounted responsable for the birth, and growth of the internet. It wasn`t born at that place, it was more or less concieved at that place though.

Leonard Kleinrock - worked at UCLA, invented the idea of packet switching.

Larry G. Roberts - Created the first long distance computer networks

Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf - inventors of the Transmission Control Protocol (IP adresses, or something simmilar)

Radia Perlman - invented the spanning tree algorithm.

are those who are the closest to those who have invented the internet. The closest of those being Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf or Larry G. Roberts.
