The eyebrows are for effect. Most people won`t understand the words sung during an opera, and very few can read lips (especially when the mouth singing is so wide and open for so long). To cope with this, stage performers, especially musical and opera singers, are taught to express themselves through their face. The guy was singing a lighthearted comedic number, hence the goofy eyebrows.

Coolio.. He`s got quite a bit of control over his voice. I am willing to bet that his speaking voice is also high, but probably still rather masculine.
Having said that..WTF is up with the eyebrows?

^ The last castrati actually died 1922 i meant to add, the style of the castrati began to decline in the late 18th century.

Not that shocking. Go check out Vitas. Now *that* is a high pitched voice. Still can sing relatively well, I must say. ~ Vindicate

... that is vitas... heh... Anyways, the whole scary high voice kinda loses its effect after about the 5th time it happens... its ok you`ll recover

That`s not as high as I was expecting. I was hoping for some Vitas-style falsetto.
That`s a crazy high chest voice, but not that bad. Doesn`t sound castrati-high to me.

Thats mostly because castratis dont exist any more...Its illegal now and has been for a number of years.

I`ve heard guys singing soprano. It`s all about how good they are at singing falsetto. With those facial expressions, however, I at first thought it was a joke. Hmm.

I don`t think he naturally sounds like that. It was kind of soft... Like Justin Timberlake, another young man making a career out of FALSETTO.

His mannerisms (read: eyebrows) kind of looks like a Doctor Who on an LSD trip.

Why are there no good parts for Mezzo-sopranos? Always with the high notes... sheesh!

Great range, but I`m not really a fan of his timbre, it`s got clarity, but not great quality.

I happen to love opera, tenors mostly, but female sopranos are awesome too.

I notice his voice cracks off key for fractions of a second numerous times, his range is not as wide as he is trying to make it out to be.

Countertenor...pfft

I wonder if this guy is straight. If so then I bet his neighbors can`t tell who is moaning at night. Although I`d probably lose that bet since he is most likely not.

His facial expressions are priceless, but I am jealous of his voice.

No man should be able to sing like that...
