I`m calling it now, in 10 years robots will be perfected to completely imitate human movements rather than being blocky like this one.

Then another 20 years to perfect AI, and 3 months till the destruction of mankind.

You guys are idiots. That`s a robot walking up and down stairs, running, playing soccer, and dancing. There`s nothing special about it when compared to us humans, but when compared to other robots, it`s as far-fetched as landing on the moon was in the 1890s. Robots are progressing, making leaps and strides forward, and before we know it, they`ll be making leaps and strides forward. And a year later, maybe backward. It`s only a matter of time before these things are working in places too hazardous for humans (maybe exploring Venus?).

if it`s not getting me a beer from the fridge, then it`s another useless device.

Guy: "Asimo, take over the world. Tell me when you are ready"

Asimo: "I am ready"

Transforms into Megatron and proceeds to inivitably take over the world.

You know how much fun having a limitless supply of those, and an entire day in a giant room with them would be?

I`d have them all run around in circles while I dropkicked one, tore off his arm, and beat the others to robo-death with it.

Just waiting for MechWarrior to be real. I wonder which country will be first to utilize them in combat. Hmm...

Okay to everyone who isn`t impressed or can`t figure out why they are made this thing or what it can be used for in the real world, let me fill you in on something: every single piece of technology ever developed, from your cell phone to your car to the interweb and computers came about because of pure R+D. Research and development like this robot, if heads of corporations and governments thought like you did we would still be using horses to travel and sending communications by smoke signal.

It just annoys me when short sighted, unimaginative people say stupid poo about other`s work when they probably can barely work their computer.

my memory isn`t that great so perhaps it was a different robot... buuuut, wasn`t there a clip not that long ago that showed Asimo climbing (or decending) stairs, and basically falling flat on its face?

I think if this robot is properly used, it could be very handy in our every day lives. Example rescuing people from burning buildings etc.

I kept looking at the background:
"170 channels to find what turns you on."

Very impressive robotics-never seen the running accomplished before. The dancing was a little lacking on the foot work, but I think the stairs made up for it. Go Asimo!

P.S.-Fix that damn voice!

^^ That`s an insult to science. And while it is nifty to have Asimo capable of more things, I`m waiting for the day it has muffin-lasers!

And now for something completly different:
Did you know, if the distance between one step and the next was increased by 1mm almost everyone would trip up on it.

I`m sick of people making fun of robots and the people who make them. These people are programming evermore realistic robots every year and you can’t even program a VCR. So shut up haters.

I heard that Honda rents ASIMOs to certain businesses. I think it was almost $40,000 per day to rent one. I don`t know abut you, but I don`t have that kind of money!

Yeah, uh, that thing is definitely not built for speed. For some reason, the fact that its foot doesn`t have any joints... that they`re just flat chunks bothers me. I mean, I know it`s just a demonstration, but it`d be nice if they built something that could outrun a snail. >_>
Oh, and look, it can use stairs. Impressive???

That`s pretty awesome. Both of it`s feet were (slightly) off the ground when it was `running.`
It looked really weird going down the stairs though hahaha
