Meh. Didn`t bother watching al of it. It was painful. She`s a disgrace to england! Well, ok, she`s not that bad, but still, I agree with RPGillespie, the whole "Dumbledore is gay" thing just pissed me off. Also, I finished reading the last book and thought "They were awful".

haha. funny speech. and i found including the sexual preferences of a character when it doesnt matter was quite stupid. now all i can think of is dumbledore checking out harrys ass as he leaves his office. sigh

Seeing as Dumbledore being gay didnt come out till AFTER the publishing of the final book, nor was it included within the books themselves or held relevance in the books, I dismissed it. You can still read the books thinking exactly what you did before, if you liked them or not regardless of what Rowling said after the books release. In my eyes Dumbledore was without sexuality, as far a fictional character can be, he had far too much on his mind and was far too old to play around with the idea of relationships. He had a duty to do, and he couldnt let emotional baggage prevent him from acting.

I loved the books and still do, and will continue to do. I intend to read them again once I`ve finished the Thomas Covenant books.

Great speech, amused me. Her points and advice were sound, and should be taken as inaccessible wisdom, on the basis the only way to emulate poverty is to suffer poverty. Not alot of people who graducate Harvard will end up empoverished. So great advice.

I liked the books up until the last one. Half of it was running around and the only worthwhile part was the battle. The epilogue? SOOOO disappointing.

As for Dumbledore being gay? With a name like Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, how could he be anything but? And it gives the slash fans more to play with, I suppose? woohoo?

Besides, who cares if a character is gay or not. It`s not like she was writing erotica where it`s a major element. It does explain Grindelwald more.

As for the speech, I loled a few times. All graduation speeches suck. The graduates aren`t paying attention to the speech - they want to get out of there and get some beer (at least my fellow geology majors do anyway).

Oh give the homophobia calling a rest. People were disappointed that she craved attention so much, she decided to make Dumbledore gay.

    Call me homophobia.

Sheesh! She didn`t "decide to make Dumbledore gay". She was asked a question about Dumbledore`s love interests in an interview and she replied that she had always imagined him being gay. She`s not even sure herself and she invented him...

if you haven`t got the attention span of a gnat (ie most of the above)search the U-Tube bar for the second half where she talks about imagination
Despite her books she comes across as a woman of suprising depth

How did this turn into a slam fest against J.K. Rowling? Who cares if Dumbledore is gay? The books were enjoyable, I read them on the advice of a friend. In my opinion the story took such a dark turn in the third book, that it really was no longer a children`s story, but was better suited to more mature readers. I would venture that wolfio never read the books... or tried to, and didn`t finish because he didn`t like the story. Either way, the vast majority of the Western world seemed to think they were very good.

I too intend to read them again this summer after I have finished Stephen King`s "The Dark Tower" series.
