SO COOL! I wonder how safe though, and how long it will last. If it`s safe and only lasts 5 - 10 years I`m all over it! Otherwise, I`ll admire from afar.

thats really neat but whats the point . I mean are you gonna carry a black light around with you all the time just to show off your tattoo? I think i`ll stick to normal tattoos

but, then again, girlwithnin seems to know what she`s talking about since she has one, so i`ll go with her facts. maybe it was just the ink or something used somewhere that didnt turn out good? obviously this didnt happen to her! :)
and like someone else said anyway, who is constantly spending their lives under blacklights to make them worthwhile? they do look neat tho!

um. no you dont want one of these tattoos. i`m not saying that i`m completey RIGHT about this, but my tattoo artist talked to hubby and i about these and said they tend to turn brown and very ugly after a few years. again, this is what i`ve heard, so i cant say it`s fact. but i wouldnt get one.

I here from tattoo artists that it is very bad for your skin. It`s like injecting cancer in you.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb4/T... That`s mine, got it about 3 weeks ago. Under normal light people can only see it because they know it`s there.

So a couple things about black light tattos from someone who has one, instead of someone who`s friends have 1.

First thing, yes, they are faintly visible in normal light. It looks more like a blur, or a blemish on your skin, hardly noticeable, most people don`t even notice it. Some people I have been told will have some scaring that will be visible.

Lastly, yes, in clubs most people think it`s fake and try to smear it. Freaked me out a lot. But then again, drunks try to smear all of my tattoos!

Secondly, they are semi-permanent. I got mine about 4 or 5 years ago, from a highly reputable tattoo artist, and he even warned me "it may stay, it may not." Well, it stayed, for about 2 years, then it just started dying out. So, now, about 5 years later, it`s pretty much just a blur on my back, that doesn`t glow under light!

This ink is proven safe here in the US. The ink they used nearly a decade ago, wasn`t. But the new ink is safe!

ive got one on my hand and you can still see it even though its healed.

I would recommend getting one as its a great talking point and people still try and rub it off in the clubs lol but remember you can still see it under normal light.

A couple of my friends have tattoos like that, and i`m thinking of getting one done myself.

But after seeing my friends blacklight tattoos, i`ve decided to make it a regular tattoo, but with blacklight highlights, since these tattoos are faintly visible when not in blacklight.

Now an ordinary tattoo with these as highlights would "hide" the blacklight tattoo in the ordinary tattoo.

Hey, I have one too. And yes they are permanent. As far as the ink not being `approved` no inks are. FDA just doesn`t give a crap. No it`s not radioactive. It lights up pretty good under blacklight. And the daylight visibility depends on weather or not you scar.

This is from the mouth of a tattoo artist, me.

"You can get pretty much the same effect with a light yellow highlighter except you can see it in the daylight if you look close enough"

Thats the best to do if you ever go cosmic bowling. (Bowling but by blacklights and glow-in-the-dark type things)
Those are pretty cool, but for the pain I`d like to be able to easily see the tatto without having to get a blacklight.

I saw these a long time ago. I`m getting the skeleton arm when I`m old enough. Hopefully, it`ll be fully ready and accepted to use when I get it. Right now, some of the UV ink has carcinogens and phosphors, so it`d be wise to check it out ;D

yeah I want a tattoo but I`m still living with my parents and if they saw a mark they would disown me and will never help me

Plus people have job that require you to not have a tattoo cause you would be fired because its not representing the company and you wouldnt look formal

Most of them were stupid and unoriginal -LOL FLAMES!!1- but they were pretty tight.

I think I`ll stick with henna or REAL tattoos though.

Doesn`t the tattoo make the skin lighter, after a while, if no sunscreen is regularly applied? So eventually it`d get more and more visible.

those are cool but kind of pointless unless you carry around a black light at all times and shine it on the tattoo.....or go to raves a lot.

MissMage, if they were permanent, I`d totally do one. My parents would never find out, I wouldn`t get kicked out of school, all the bad parts about a tattoo are gone...

Yeah, but what about the good parts? Isn`t the whole point of having a tattoo is being able to see it? I think it`s cooler if it`s NOT permanent. I went through enough pain with my own tattoo and it`s pretty, I want people to see it.

Most tattoo parlors won`t touch the stuff because it hasn`t been officially approved to be safe, but some will give you tattoos if you provide the ink, which can be found cheaply online. I have a few friends that have gotten them done and they turned out amazing. For people that want to say that they`re not invisible, they are; the picture of the guy with the guitar and whatnot on his forearm, what you can see in the regular picture is the scab, his tattoo must be recent, the upper part of that same picture though, you can`t see in regular light.
As far as most people are concerned, the ink is as safe as regular ink, it`s the "glow in the dark" ink that has caused cancerous reactions due to the fact that that ink is slightly radioactive, and that ink is and has been illegal.
A great use for blacklight tattoos are to accent existing tattoos, and they come in different colors. Just find a good artist first!!!
