Sandwich Artist for pooty Subway.
Nojoke, that job is baaad.
I got paied £3.70 an hour to do absolutley everything, for minimum wage.
Yeah, there were the perks, Stealking cookiedough and sandwiches and drnks, but that`s all ok until you nearly get battered by some shetbag because you have no meatballs left.

Also, don`t work at Morrisons. It`s revolting. you smell of Salad (If you work on the salad bar)

Being a grill cook. It`s really not all that bad unless you have a bitch for a supervisor. I hated that job. It was for Sodexo (formerly Sodexho). One of the managers was way too wishy-washy and I had to get the hell out. There were a few perks: 1- Free food while working. Anything at all, Drinks, candy, chips, whatever. All free. 2- We didn`t have an accident for a year so we got an extra paid day off. Hoodratingrah. I worked on my school`s campus and when the dining commons had a grill fire (they don`t know how to clean it in between shifts), the general manager said that all the food establishments on campus would supply free food. People were jerks and ordering insane amounts of food, taking bags and bags of candy, chips and drinks. Only one person was courteous enough to give my coworker her unopened water since everyone had taken the drinks.

I hated that job.

I worked at ARBYs which sucked but was better than most jobs I have had.

The worst job I had was working swing shifts at a grocery store. I worked two days a week 7pm-7am and then worked 10am-6pm for a few. They never gave me a day off between shift changes so anytime I fif have off was spent sleeping.

I worked at a fine dining resturant in my town for all of three weeks. i called my boss one day telling him i coudln`t come in that night because my aunt was expected to die that day and i had to go out of town to pay my last respects. (which was totally true, she died of a brain aneurysm) and he screamed at me for two hours telling me i was stupid for caring so much abou tmy aunt and not about the job. i stared bawling and never went back. just stopped going. =) it was nice.

"Working at mervyns BY FAR the worst."

I so completely agree! I hated that place, and Caribou Coffee!

JCPenney wasn`t the greatest, but also wasn`t the worst. I just recently left there about 2 weeks ago because I just got a job at Costco.

Idk, the warehouse I work at is just fine, I love it everybody is kinda one big family there. Some of the members suck/are really stuck up & rude, but my coworkers make up for that.

I used to work at a mini-golf course. I did site maintenence, which meant I was strapped daily into a giant, 100 lb. leaf blower (that looked a lot like a Ghostbuster`s proton-pack) in 100-degree weather or hotter. It vibrated so strongly that when I took it off, my body wouldn`t stop shaking for two hours, my spine would twitch and convulse like crazy, and my eyesight was constantly fuzzy. I also worked the front counter as a "ball dispenser", which meant I had to deal with 14 year old boys and horny old men regurgitating the same "blue balls" joke every half hour.

KFC... Worst place to work ever.. They would make me work 2 seperate 4 hour shifts in one day, 9-1 then a 6-10 because they were too cheap to pay someone to stay a few extra hours.
Not to mention keeping everyone in the store at 39 hours a week exactly so they didn`t have to pay any full time benefits. They fired a few people that stayed a bit late to finish up the work on a busy night because they had 41 hours that week.

The manager once made me wash off expired chicken that smelled like rotting §hit and fry it up.

Sure we had the lowest food costs of all our stores in the area but we also had lots of sick customers.

They closed down the store a few months ago for "remodeling" as they put it, not numerous health code violations.

I had to deliver papers. Sundays were painful, dude. And people made stupid requests as to the placement. But another crappy job I had was to pollenate corn for Monsanto, one of those corporations who sue farmers if their corn accidentally gets on their farm. Anyway, turns out that`s what I`m allergic to, is corn pollen, and I had to wear even more clothes than the required long sleeves and pants in 100 degree weather. I had a face mask and glasses and a handkerchief on my head, nearly fainted and could barely see because my eyes were so swollen. They worked me up to the legal limit (49 hours) for child labor laws per week. I was so tired I would fall asleep at lunch and people wouldn`t wake me up to get going so I got yelled at even though someone could`ve just tapped me.

Wal-Mart: Need I say more (I do, okay).

It is a place where people have just given up basically (including the customers, which about half of them, in some way, believe that they are in fact Gods)

The CSMs (customer service managers)(it appears) do not do anything. They don`t even serve the customer, that is unless the cashier doesn`t bend over and kiss the customer`s butt quick enough, then of course that is a negative on the cashier`s record.

It is an environment where it feels like everyone has given up.

Bah, when I read up on minimum wage laws and read that people with disabilities can be paid less, I got really pissy (here; it`s a pdf). Wah.

A friend of mine said he tried to get a job at a chicken factory once. They put the chicken on hooks and strip the skin right off those poor chickens, all while they`re still alive. Needless to say, he ran far away.

The worst job I ever had was one bad summer during a break from college I worked for a friend of my parents. He owned a company that supplied port-a-johns for the military. He got a contract to supply Ft. Polk. For those of you who don`t know Ft Polk is in Louisiana. Picture Louisiana in the summer, 100+ degrees and the job was emptying and cleaning the crappers. The smell alone make you not want to eat for a month. The worst part was when some idiot decided to drop clothes in the crapper, the hose would clog and you would have to pull it out and remove the clog...by hand, thank God for rubber gloves. The only good part was the pay, 18.00/hour. That was good money for an 19 year only in 1989, but I would not do it again for any amount of money. I also forgot to add that I spent 3 and a half months living in a motel in Leesville with nothing to do, I think I spent pretty much all my free time watching spank-o-vision and billing it to my boss...he didn`t bitch about it though

I was a cashier at a 7-11 and even though the customers were pretty cool, (some of them you could talk to for hours), my boss was an idiot.
He was nice, but never remembered to give me my pay check and everytime i reminded him he would quickly leave the store and wouldnt come back until my shift was over, what a jerk

and then the store was near a university so most customers were hardly 21 year old idiots who get drunk for a living. most of them came in and bought a crapload of beer, cups, and ping-ping balls (beer pong) EVERY SATURDAY

and dont forget the wimpy 16 year olds who bought 40 ounce slurpees and tried to fake an ID for cigarrettes, idiots

Jazzy, the sponge bathing is far from the worse...

Luckily, none of the really BAD horror stories in nursing home/assisted living care happened to me, but I still had to care for an old woman`s hemorrhoids.

Yeah, don`t tell me that dealing with people is tough, I wanna see you strap on that rubber glove, get some ointment, and get to work, everyone.

Ew.

At least I didn`t have to deal with the ones who shat out their own colons though, so I`m happy!

I`ve got to agree. It`s your last year before going to college and you`re bitching because your parents are asking you to get a job to try to teach you some real-world responsibilities. Christ. No wonder why society is going down the pooter, with ungrateful brats like you hanging about.

Also, must agree with Pabasa. Being without a job sucks. Luckily, my man makes good money, so we`re not really struggling, but it`s been so hard to find a job and it`s sort of depressing.

Jobs that I`ve done:
Hostess at a small restaurant
Bagger at Shaw`s supermarket
Telephone Operator at an answering service
Kennel Caretaker at an animal hospital
Cashier/Head Cashier at a dollar store
Machine Operator at a lumber yard
Cashier at a sporting goods store
Independent Sales Contractor for Kirby

Kirby was the worst, but the animal hospital was the most disgusting. We`d have animals stay overnight and some of them would use the pens as their toilet, one had explosive diarrhea that got literally everywhere *gag* Plus I had to help out with lots of surgeries which basically meant a lot of blood and guts.

I`ve worked at a lot of places, and the worst was for a company that sold Kirby vacuums. I only stayed for three weeks. I was worked for 70 hours each week Monday through Sunday, driving all over the entire state of Maine, demonstrating a vacuum cleaner to people who really only wanted a free maid service. I went into some of the most disgusting creepy houses. Also, they promised to pay $400 a week; then it changed to $400 or commission, whichever was higher; then it changed to $400 if you work 7 days a week or commission. I ended up getting into a blow-out with my boss because I was over-booked and had to cancel a show and he screamed at me and cussed me out. I quit the next day after making sure to tell him that he was an non-nice individual and that his company was sure to go belly up.

Ok jjobs in order from worst to best:

Painting houses - 10 hour days and breaks only when it rained, plus it was on contract soI mever made as much money as I should have

Dairy Queen - Boss was a total dick, very abusive and came back smelling like sour milk every night

Supermarkets - Being a clerk blew, but being a cashier was pretty easy. Remember some codes, chat with some old people, simple life. Produce was poo tho, days starting at 6 and placing stuff wasn`t as cool as I imagined.

Theatre - Very cool, althought it was a second job during painting. Sold tickets, talked and met people in shobizz. People are very fruity, but interesting.

and the big one

Customs - I walk around with a tactical belt and a flak vest, get payed good money all while chilling wih relatively young people. Full time work in an office isn`t ideal, but really puts the real world into perspective.

Dairy Queen.
You have to memorize all the products and proportions and everything, but that isn`t even the half of it.
Make a product the wrong way = Get b*tched at
Make a product the right way = Get b*tched at
Give people the right amount of ice cream = "That`s not enough!"
Give people a bit too much ice cream = "I can`t eat all this!" + get b*tched at by the managers

And then I love when the parents come in with ten kids, whom all order something completely disgusting and not specified on the menu, and then look at me funny when I ask them a question about one of their items.

Honestly I could go on forever, but I`m sure anyone in the fast food business shares my pain. Especially those where you have to prepare the food, then actually hand it to the customers, wondering exactly what reaction you`ll get this time.

EVEN WHEN YOU GO THREE FEET AWAY TO THROW SOMETHING IN THE TRASH CAN.

try this, i started training as a baker 2 years and few months back, went in every night at 11pm(2300) and would bust my ass off till 12am next day, go home, pass out, get up, shower and go right back to it, with 1 off night a week, boss decided that i was a good mule and made me pull a 16 hour shift 2 days in a row, after which my boss says he wont give me ANYTHING for all my overtime(my actual shifts where only supposed to last exactly 8 hours according to contract). I told him drat no and walked out, didnt go back except for when he fired me and called me in to pick up my pay 3 weeks later and the bitch gives me 265 euro(about 500 USD) for one month of total slave labor in MF 10 cent pieces in those little paper rolls! My following job in a hard core security firm after seemed like a total blessing even if i took 2 bullets during that and got more than my share of other injuries, would still be doing it if i wasnt a wreck from stress induced asthma and cronic pain in my lower right

The worst job I ever had was at a retirement home for people with dementia and Alzheimer`s. Not because I had to wash them, feed them, clothe them or wipe poo off the walls, because of how absolutely soul-rending it was to watch these beautiful, funny, sometimes brilliant people slowly degenerate into mindless human-shaped shells that couldn`t recognize their own family. I lasted two years before I couldn`t take it anymore.

Never again. I know that things like this happen, but I can`t take it that up close and personal.

Hey Thursday, well you`re right, it`s not exactly everyone`s idea of a pleasant job. Think of us riggers toiling away in the desert, covered in mud, oil and sweat next time you`re filling up on gas...

I had to work at a $2 shop when I was 16. The manager hated me, then the boss left and the manager was made a boss. She fired me. Then I fell pregnant and haven`t really worked for long since. I think being a mum is the most awesome job, but incredibly hard work, especially with twin babies. So many crying babies, not enough arms to rock them! X(

Anyway, to answer fancy`s question, Retail (And I`m sure most would agree) is the one of the worst jobs ever

I can`t pin down any specific Job, but there have been aspects of a lot of my jobs that totally Freakin` Sucked.

Most recently I had to pluck a Dead Dog out of a Black berry patch. Apparently it was killed during or shortly after a dog fight because it`s face and front end were all chewed up and it had been sitting in this ditch rotting for a couple days.

When I fought through the brambles to grab it and pick it up, it`s skin just sorta slid off of it like a sweaty gym sock full of maggots. Getting that sucker in a garbage bag was no fun. Luckily that was an exception and not the norm.

dom, I`m a geologist. I was working wellsite on a development well on the Kirkuk oilfield. And yes, it was all done and dusted before the invasion.

Sh*tty job, 12-16 hour shifts, no drinking, no smoking, heavy security. But then, at $1200 per day the money`s not bad...

I once worked at a place and worked the salad making sector and HATED re-stocking onions because they were all pre-chopped in placed in a lidded contained. Re-stocking meant lifting the lid on the onion container. I can not relate to you how horrible the smell of chopped, lidded onions smell after they`ve been sitting in one place (refrigerated) for a couple hours.

Putrid to the 38947294 power.

Respect, Turnshroud, respect.

Worst job I`ve ever had was working at a BBQ place. Mixing coleslaw, unwrapping frozen pork-ribs and stacking them up, breaking chicken bones so they arms fold into each other and dunking the raw chickens into a marinade and getting it all over yourself. I`m not a whiner so i`m not going to make this out to be HORRIBLE painful but it made my stomach ill and I almost vomited after dealing with the chickens. I`m a pussy. :/

Your feet hurt consantly

I`ve had the worst luck trying to find something this summer. Nobody wants to hire a college kid who`s only gonna be around in the summer. I`ll just fricking stay in Maryland all year next time. :P

worst job? Childcare at a church. Not only do you get to deal with obnoxious brats, but parents who don`t think they should pay for it because apparently it`s a `charitable work` and I`m a `volunteer`. Worst part was, when people actually did pay, my mom was in charge of the whole shebang and forgot to put me on the payroll, because I`m her volunteer slave for everything else she does around there. Uck.

OK, to be honest, COSTCO IS THE WORST JOB EVER! Getting to work there is terribly hard, and you work with idiot costumers that don`t know their rare credit cards work in Costco. Then the babies start to cry, and the boss SUCKS...that`s my job experience, but I normally hate Costco because things are too expensive in that Costco Whoresale...I mean Wholesale *rolls eyes*

-military base store..the whole store got empty in one day.Try filling a grocery store in one day! Watching hundreds of pregnant wowen shop like it was the last day was depressing
-the vet.poop and sick animals :-(
-callcenter..trying to figure what people are actually saying
-wedding singer..watching people get teary eyed and drunk and trying to hit on you isn`t good for you mental health (funny storie;a couple i sang for loved,LOVED the songs and divorced the year later and hired me for the DIVORCE party! for real)

but the worst is at macdonald.Grumpy, hungry fat people complaining that the mega big order of fries and 20 burgers and so on isn`t finished in 3 minutes and screaming children and managers that are younger then me.Low pay and worthless long hours.

McDonald`s by far the worst job I`ve ever had.

Making stinky gross fat seeping burgers for fat retarded customers who send their dirty kids to go piss in the playpark before eating, and puke in the playpark after eating.

Management is 100% of the time an absolute power trip. Relax you dyke, you`re not that f*cking important or successful, I`ll wipe the god damned trays down when I`ve squeezed every second out of my break thank you very much.

Making 9 hamburgers from frozen to cooked in 36 seconds can`t be safe either. And during rushes, the dippoos you work with bump into you because the muffins are ready and you burn yourself or drop the burgers on the floor, so you mop it up with the mop whose water hasn`t been changed in 2 days and carry on on a slippery greasy floor.

Basically McDonald`s is : Gross food, fat retarded customers, idiotic employees, crappy work conditions and retarded management.

Best part of the whole story , the day I quit I get screamed at by the HR rep who hired me on, ah fun times :P

I don`t think anyone can complain until they`re worked a phone survey/telemarketing job.

You get yelled at and hung up on for 8 hours straight for very little money. You wouldn`t believe the things people say to phone surveyers because they are anonymous.

And even when you get a person willing to do the survey, half the time it`s an old person who will talk to you for an hour about nothing at all, bringing your completition rate down.

It`s really a no-win job that can completely break people down. It was not uncommon to find people crying in the bathroom.

I did it for a summer back when I was between high school and university, and never again.
