Their website is really cool. For all the people complaining, it`s AGAINST child soldiers. It doesn`t exist.

Other than the minefield training, it looks kind of fun!

If that were real, none of them would have been alive after the grenades. They have a 150 foot lethal radius...

thos kids fail. they throw grenades wrong, close their eyes when they shoot, and carry their weapons wrong!

LOL! I just started my camp today. It totally sucked!! It`s a camp to learn about being a doctor, etc. The only highlight was the Rangers from Fort Benning teaching us about stuff on the battle field medical wise. Plus, they were so cute! lol!!

A very nicely put together PSA, the website is very informative, but in an easy to handle interface.

If anybody`s intrigued by this, I highly recommend the documentary Invisible Children. It`s about child soldiers in Acholiland (Uganda). This was the organization that received the proceeds from the benefit battle of the bands I co-hosted this year. It`s a really sad documentary, and it will really open your eyes.

On the website it says that the employees sexually abuse them, and if they report it, they are killed. And they eat scraps left over from the dogs.

Looks exactly like an Alqueda training camp. Or some in Africa. Or a few Fundy camps out in the mid-west.

I understand that it could be effective for the `ASBO` teens, but installing a national service for EVERY teenager is not necessary.
The ASBO teens only make up a small percentage of the teenagers, it`s just blown out of proportion by the media."

we should send all those troubled teens to the camps. Then we wouldn`t have all these gangs.

When I was 18, I went to do my national service in Cyprus. - We did all that stuff that they were showing at `Camp Okutta` for real.

Funny thing is, I know that it is a fake camp to protest against kids in war-torn countries, but I have to admit, I enjoyed doing my national service, and got a lot out of it. In fact, I honestly believe that if the UK had a compulsory national service, that it would solve a lot of problems with bored kids hanging out at malls, or earning ASBOs.

With that in mind, I`ve got to say that the warchild campaign doesn`t see the full picture, or appreciate that other cultures might see things in a different way. If you can instill an element of respect, discipline, responsibility, authority, pride and common sense into a child without robbing them of their childhood, and still letting them have fun as well as blow things up, then let them.

I want to see more Camp Otukka, and wouldn`t have a problem sending my kids there!

@IUnderground
They use pyrotechnics in real life guns and explosives are less flashy.
@XBOY: "LOL if they where arab you people would call them terrorist!"
Yes I would because thats how they`re made it`s nothing new Hitler used Hitler youth as soldiers because they found at around 16 boys fought best because they were more fearless probably because they didn`t have as good of a concept of death.

There would actually be a way to make that camp a reality if the grenade, landmine and bullets would all be fake, like holywood props or paintball material.

Would be really fun but still a little bit dangerous if you ask me.

I recently just finished reading a book about a child soldier (12 year old) from the sierra leone region. This is very scary.
Visit this site http://www.campokutta.com/
and then this http://www.warchild.ca/campokutta.html

It all about awareness

Now that I know that it`s actually to protest child soldiers, it`s actually rather cute, you know. The image of that girl with a gun was rather startling.
