If anybody`s intrigued by this, I highly recommend the documentary Invisible Children. It`s about child soldiers in Acholiland (Uganda). This was the organization that received the proceeds from the benefit battle of the bands I co-hosted this year. It`s a really sad documentary, and it will really open your eyes.
public service announcement
we should send all those troubled teens to the camps. Then we wouldn`t have all these gangs.
NO NO NO D:Lol, well, as long as it was male only :P
I understand that it could be effective for the `ASBO` teens, but installing a national service for EVERY teenager is not necessary.The ASBO teens only make up a small percentage of the teenagers, it`s just blown out of proportion by the media.
Am I supposed to be concerned right about now?
Funny thing is, I know that it is a fake camp to protest against kids in war-torn countries, but I have to admit, I enjoyed doing my national service, and got a lot out of it. In fact, I honestly believe that if the UK had a compulsory national service, that it would solve a lot of problems with bored kids hanging out at malls, or earning ASBOs.
With that in mind, I`ve got to say that the warchild campaign doesn`t see the full picture, or appreciate that other cultures might see things in a different way. If you can instill an element of respect, discipline, responsibility, authority, pride and common sense into a child without robbing them of their childhood, and still letting them have fun as well as blow things up, then let them.
I want to see more Camp Otukka, and wouldn`t have a problem sending my kids there!
Wow, you`re a genius. Oh wait, this video is a FAKE camp to raise awareness on the REAL camps in places like the Middle East and Africa. You have to love the stupid people that make posts.
"erm Sammy, once you pull the pin out, you`re meant to throw the grenade!... throw the [email protected] grendade!!!"
I wana go there lol
Would be really fun but still a little bit dangerous if you ask me.
And yes, I know it`s a fake thing used to raise awareness...
It all about awareness
Now that I know that it`s actually to protest child soldiers, it`s actually rather cute, you know. The image of that girl with a gun was rather startling.
My child wouldn`t be getting within 10 miles of that..
That`d be a cool camp though.
