Is America expected NOT to incarcerate it`s criminals? Are we expected NOT to print documents? Are we expected NOT to use batteries? Are we expected NOT to discard our old cell-phones?
Some did make a legitimate point, but most were simply whining. BAWWWW SIDE-EFFECTS OF A MODERN, PRODUCTIVE SOCIETY!
Interestingly, this artist only shows how much we consume, but not how much we recycle. Our country does have a problem with long-term conservation, but we`re getting better. What`s even better is that I don`t know of any cities that make recycling mandatory (except maybe San Francisco) -- so all that we do is by choice.
But also coming from a student and a rich school, these spoiled rich kids are the worst! Throwing away working DVD players and furniture rather than giving them to charities. How wasteful and uncaring.
how is it possible people are considering these are real pictures???
if they were supposed to be pictures of "the world`s biggest plastic bottle collection" people would be yelling `fake` left and right.
It was a _depiction_ of toothpicks. That doesn`t mean that they`re actual toothpicks - it could be a picture of one toothpick copied and pasted.
Yup, America is wasteful. No doubt about it.
But to be fair, it is a very large country (wider than it is tall, just like a stereotypical citizen), and is fuelled by business and tonnes of resources. But waste is still un-ignorably huge.
Just make sure to recycle all those cups.
Anybody else notice the picture all the barbies made? Lol.
That`s 1.92 bottles per person per day. This seems a little excessive to me. I can see maybe 1 bottle per person per day, but do we really drink nearly 2? I drink almost none, and nobody I know goes through more than one a day.
uh yea too bad those numbers weren`t for the whole world, they were just for the US
""Depicts two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every five minutes""thats....just....wow
I want the shipping crates one.I thought they were interesting, and some a bit shocking and disapointing. I`d want to see these in real life though.
Black flies, black flies anywhere you go! Ill die with a black fly pickin my bones! in north Ontario-io! North Ontario-io!
Anyway, it`s not like there`s much that can be done about ridding U.S. of guns. Even if there was legislature banning them, it`d be the law-obiding citizens left unable to defend themselves from criminals.
About the pictures: it kinda gets the point across in the first few. Yes, we`re a wasteful society and have been spoiled by environmentally irresponsible capitalism, but how about offering a solution? I`d also like to see an image on the topic of how long we can produce waste until we run out of places for landfills...
PS: I thought it was fun that Denali was spelled "DENIAL". I think it implies irresponsible consu
Lucky for me I`m doing my bit for the environment. I rarely use plastic bags, A carton of printing paper can last me a yr+, I don`t fly, don`t drive... I`m a good lil hippie :D
If it`s meant to say "Service temporarily unavailable," then it`s hilarious, if not, good going guys!
People are actually posting comments being pissed off because they think the pictures AREN`T photoshopped?
i was gonna say the same thing. I kinda wanted to see it. :-(
I doubt I`ll ever actually get to see any of these controversial images. It simply will not load.
1/2 million cell phones thrown out per day in the US alone? thats 15 million a month and 182 million cell phones in a year. you`re telling me that out of the 300 million in the US (including children), we are going through 200 million cell phones a year?
we go through 25 million paper bags a day? I didn`t even know that grocery stores still let you have the choice. I have to specify paper else they just sack plastic. and even then, they put the chemicals in the same bag as my bread, which they set on the bottom under the eggs...
I hope this guy dies. Unoriginal idiot.
Seriously..."Depicts two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every five minutes." And all you see is an infinite sea of plastic bottles...Biatch please, the amount shown is WAY over 2 mil.
Also, whoever`s idea this dumb art site was, is a total hypocrite. Is he saying he doesn`t use disposable batteries? Or use office paper? Or use plastic or paper bags? Or drinks from recyclable paper or plastic cups?
At least we know this much about the artist:He is not a pistol packing smoker, who talks about paperwork on his cell phone while driving to the airport in his SUV. Nor would he embark on the plane, ask for his meal STILL discussing paperwork concerning the import of disposable batteries, which would generate revenue, which, come tax time, would end up funding the Iraq war.
The block one was pretty cool.
