"canada has to give americans our resoures because they are wasters."
We do almost as much as they do, don`t feel so superior.

Most of it is just whining..

Is America expected NOT to incarcerate it`s criminals?
Are we expected NOT to print documents?
Are we expected NOT to use batteries?
Are we expected NOT to discard our old cell-phones?

Some did make a legitimate point, but most were simply whining. BAWWWW SIDE-EFFECTS OF A MODERN, PRODUCTIVE SOCIETY!

"That`s 1.92 bottles per person per day. This seems a little excessive to me. I can see maybe 1 bottle per person per day, but do we really drink nearly 2? I drink almost none, and nobody I know goes through more than one a day."
As a poor college student who lives off of nasty dining hall food, I`d say I use about 3 a day, but I recycle every one of them.

Interestingly, this artist only shows how much we consume, but not how much we recycle. Our country does have a problem with long-term conservation, but we`re getting better. What`s even better is that I don`t know of any cities that make recycling mandatory (except maybe San Francisco) -- so all that we do is by choice.

But also coming from a student and a rich school, these spoiled rich kids are the worst! Throwing away working DVD players and furniture rather than giving them to charities. How wasteful and uncaring.

which is why this kills me so much.

how is it possible people are considering these are real pictures???

if they were supposed to be pictures of "the world`s biggest plastic bottle collection" people would be yelling `fake` left and right.

"""Toothpicks. Made of wood. From trees.
So we`re wasting MORE trees to show just how many trees we waste? " I haven`t read all the comments, so I don`t know if anyone`s said anything about that - but I imagine the trees were wasted to make toothpicks, to pick food from teeth. Then someone used some of them to show how much wood was wasted. They didn`t especially manufacture the toothpicks to make a point...""

It was a _depiction_ of toothpicks. That doesn`t mean that they`re actual toothpicks - it could be a picture of one toothpick copied and pasted.

It works now!!

Yup, America is wasteful. No doubt about it.

But to be fair, it is a very large country (wider than it is tall, just like a stereotypical citizen), and is fuelled by business and tonnes of resources. But waste is still un-ignorably huge.

Just make sure to recycle all those cups.

If 12.5 million dollars were spent on the war in Iraq every 12 hours, the U.S.A. would be bankrupt by now. -.-

Anybody else notice the picture all the barbies made? Lol.

Sure, anything looks like a lot when you put it in an area about the size of a room or whatever... but the WORLD is a pretty big place."

uh yea too bad those numbers weren`t for the whole world, they were just for the US

kikij, it`s fair to say that handgun deaths are going to be much more common in the country where they are more accessible.
Of course, the Americans love their constitution and 2nd Amendment so much, they`d never consider revising the damn thing, but just keep interpreting it over and over in different ways. I serioiusly think it holds the country back.

Anyway, it`s not like there`s much that can be done about ridding U.S. of guns. Even if there was legislature banning them, it`d be the law-obiding citizens left unable to defend themselves from criminals.

About the pictures: it kinda gets the point across in the first few. Yes, we`re a wasteful society and have been spoiled by environmentally irresponsible capitalism, but how about offering a solution? I`d also like to see an image on the topic of how long we can produce waste until we run out of places for landfills...

PS: I thought it was fun that Denali was spelled "DENIAL". I think it implies irresponsible consu

Proves that owning guns doesn`t make you safer. America`s population is approximately 5 times the UK`s and it`s death at the hands of guns is almost 155 times the UK`s.
One day America will look back in horror at a time when it allowed it`s citizens to own such ridiculously dangerous weapons like we do.
Dunblane was enough. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

I don`t see how that is feasibly possible for most of these. For instance, the disposable hot-beverage cups, that would be 780,000 per state, per day. The plastic bags would be 860,000 per state, per day. Office paper would be 86,400,000 sheets per state, per day, or 4,320,000,000 (four billion) sheets per DAY for the entire country. Can anyone verify these numbers?

Ummm these dont mention how much of this stuff is recycled so it`s not accurate. Also landfills are dissappering because what cant be recycled is used to make energy at waste to energy plants. I suppose we should all go live in the woods and wipe or butts with leaves and twigs this is hipocracy.

I weep for the ignorance of the people that left some of these comments. Do you think the disposable razors, bottles, plastic bags, pop cans, furniture, papertowls, electronics, vehicles, paper cups/plates styrofoam, clothing, etc all dissapear and magically go "poof" when the garbage collector comes to pick them up in the morning? We do not have infinite land space but we act like we do. The artist makes a good point, and most of you seem to have limited ability on how to think of the world outside of your house. If you think its exagerated, take a trip to the landfill and behold the glory of the f u c k ing mess we have made. If you want to bash my comment, then do it, most people dont like hearing, or seeing, the truth.

where did "he" get his facts? according to him, we spend $105 TRILLION on the war per year...even the most extravagent amount is $2 trillion over the course of the entire war.

1/2 million cell phones thrown out per day in the US alone? thats 15 million a month and 182 million cell phones in a year. you`re telling me that out of the 300 million in the US (including children), we are going through 200 million cell phones a year?

we go through 25 million paper bags a day? I didn`t even know that grocery stores still let you have the choice. I have to specify paper else they just sack plastic. and even then, they put the chemicals in the same bag as my bread, which they set on the bottom under the eggs...

How could SIMILAR $1 bills make up a Benjamin Franklin face? They are all pringted the same color are they not? Unless the artist dyed or altered some of them...which is a crime..so he must have printed his own...oh wait...

I hope this guy dies. Unoriginal idiot.

I call BS on a LOT of those.

Seriously...
"Depicts two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every five minutes." And all you see is an infinite sea of plastic bottles...Biatch please, the amount shown is WAY over 2 mil.

Also, whoever`s idea this dumb art site was, is a total hypocrite. Is he saying he doesn`t use disposable batteries? Or use office paper? Or use plastic or paper bags? Or drinks from recyclable paper or plastic cups?

At least we know this much about the artist:
He is not a pistol packing smoker, who talks about paperwork on his cell phone while driving to the airport in his SUV. Nor would he embark on the plane, ask for his meal STILL discussing paperwork concerning the import of disposable batteries, which would generate revenue, which, come tax time, would end up funding the Iraq war.
