    it lines up.

wouldn`t it be funny if it was the loss of the internet that caused the 2012 apocalypse.

I always figured it`d be the earth`s completed "wobble" on its axis. If that didn`t get us it`d be "the man", illuminati, endgame and all that jazz. Or a comet. Or the impending alien invasion.

But I`d believe it if we drove ourself in the dirt entirely because we lost the internet.
Makes that south park episode almost prophetic.

really think about it though, most of the people only visit mainstream sites instead of small ones, and switching to a TV like business model wouldn`t affect them but it would squash free trade of ideas, making a dictorship more likely

It`s a fact that the earth completes a wobble on its axis (only happens once every ~12,500 years) December 21, 2012.

Apparently there`s a good chance it will completely screw up our weather and the earth will go berserk while the poles actually "flip" and switch sides.

Focus People!! Net nuetrality has been in the news for a few years now. Ever since its inception the FCC has been wanting to get its grubby little hands all over the internet. Its not satisfied with all these website popping up all over the place streaming video without liscensing. This is their way of "Incorperating" the internet so that only the mega rich conglomerates like, AOL/Time/Warner, Turner Broadcasting, and Disney (Buenavista) can lock down the internet and make you pay them for access like you do with television. Just look at the digital madate for television. Think its for quality purposes? Think again. Its a ploy to force everyone to cable or digital dish networks. No more free TV. Get it? Yet these companies are still raking it in with sponsorhip commercials as well as subscription services. So what are we getting then?

And before you scream "CONVERTER BOXES" think about that too. How many of your local broadcasters are going to have networks in place to broadcast openly and freely digital services? Next time you watch your favorite program on broadcast television read the logo at the bottom more carefully. "In HD, (and here is the important part) Where Available" So Joe Shi+head in BF, Egypt get nothing even if he gets the converter box for 20 bucks after the limited govt. rebate coupon. This is just another step in the long line of beuraucratic BS to make fat rich white guys fatter and richer.

If this is true, and it would seem apparent, then there will be illegal ISPs and some kind of resistance. It won`t work. The attempt to kill the internet will be killed. Maybe in some kind of cyber war! That would be so cool!!

Ya, its like that episode of southpark, wear the internet just "Dies", it cant happen, for real, that would mean Billions of Ip address would have to be encoded, and this is not sci fi(but we do get our ideas from that channel..) and you cant kill the internet unless you encode each individuall Ip address. Practically the only way to do this would to have anyone, lets say using Google, to download a ptach, encoding Everything you stream. that alone is going to take alot of politicians to say yes to...onyl thing i Love about the internet is that i can get info, some form this website Alot faster then the news, and Even then its sometimes dribbled...like Fox and Time magazines... Me love I`A`B Long long time.

According to prophecies, the world has already ended dozens of times.

Maybe, just maybe, just think about it, maybe...the prophecies are wrong? OMG!!!11111!!!!!1 You can`t forsee the future in the entrails of a goat. WTF? Everyone knows you can, because they read it on the internet.

    Sheesh.

The current Mayan long calender cycle ends in the year we call 2012. Whoopy do. The next Mayan long calender cycle starts immediately afterwards, as calender cycles do. It`s just that the format that the Mayans used for their dates on their long calender had a limited number of days.

Say, for example, that you decided to start a calender based on counting days from now and used 4 digits in base 10. That gives you 10000 days. Would that mean the world would end in 10000 days from now? No.

Hey its that Gay Russian Warcraft guy and that chick thats offering `sex` to any virgin...

    How reliable.
    /sarcasm.

These videos are convincing until you start to think about them just a bit. There are thousands uppon thousands of ISPs out there, what are the odds that they`re all conspiring together against the entire internet community. If there is just 1 isp that isn`t then the population will flock to it and it will just be blasted with customers. There is no way this is real. It is remotely possible I guess but if it ever happens there will be so many ways around it... it makes no sense. No one controls the net. No companies, No people, no hackers from "the Core". No-one.

Also that babe on their page showing off herself really kills they`re creditability.

    Hilarity!

Anyway, even if these people are right, it`s human nature not to care until its too late, so why bother trying to stir a revolution? Current culture already has its fashionable "green movement"...we can`t handle another movement such net neutrality. That`s just unfashionable.

What can i say they are bad liars,,, nice hoax probably some psychologists who want to prove a point to what u can make people believe if u handle it right.. U can just smell this is directed..

It is also extremely well done. They prepared almost enough to make themselves believe it. and when a group of people talks so `convincing´ about something. It´s ez to believe. I think their point is to prove movies like zeitgeist are so influential. I believe what they say there, but have i checked any of the `facts`? I don`t think this hype will go too far though.

I am willing to bet money on the world NOT ending in 2012. Seriously. Let`s arrange something. If you are so sure of your prophecy, let`s make it a $1000 bet. There are websites that arrange such exchanges to make sure the money exists and that the person losing isn`t a scammer.

everybody says "oh yeah this won`t happen because people will rebel against it"

    but seriously...will you???

nobody stood against bush on iraq, we didn`t stop the patriot act either...at least not enough to turn over his plans

our generation has stood idely by while out government has chipped away our freedoms...because we had a test the next day or we were going to the american idol concert

i guarentee people are trying to control the internet...some greedy politician or business is trying...may not succeeding, but people will always try to gain power in any way they can

we need to get off out asses and actually say we`re done being pushed around, by government and big business

You freaking idiots! This has nothing to do with the mayan calander prophesy. This is about the United States Govt. along with other world Govt. getting in bed with big business and placing standards on internet traffic and getting us to pay for it. This has been a hot issue in the house and senate for over two years now. Google it for christs sake. Here is a link if you are too lazy to do it yourself. http://news.zdnet.co.uk/itmanagement/0,1000000308,39271293,00.htm
Its a simple matter that people are tying to make you pay for something and then limit how you use it. How much do you pay now for your service? 20-30 bucks a month? Well imagine this only getting Warner web site for that price. And no vid streaming. To get that you have to chip in an extra 10 dollars for the premium package that allows bandwidth enough to stream video. Oh and if you want FOX websites you need to add another 10 dollars to your comcast web account.

Simply put you will be nickle and dimed to death by your web companies. Cell phones do it now in the states. If you go anywhere else in the world a cell phone has capabilities and you pay flat fee and recieve all of its capabilities for that fee. But here in the good ol USA you pay 10 cents a text to both recieve and send. Do the math and you will find that you are paying waaaay too much to send a couple of letters on a text screen as opposed to email or for that matter snail mail. Here is a site that shows a price comparison of data transfer of texting and snail mail. You wont belive how much you are nickle and dimed by these thieves.

    http://gthing.net/the-true-price-of-sms-...

Dont fool yourself these internet providers are only in it for the money and have plenty of it to fill the pockets of fat white men in washington to get them to vote their way.

Net Neutrality ensures it stays as is. This is no hoax. This is true and it is happening as we speak. People are hard at work, trying like hell to get washington to vote the way of corporate america. AOL, Warner, Fox, Beuna Vista, Yahoo, Microsoft, Google, Comcast, Verizon, AT&T. They all have a stake in being able to provide levels of access to the public. As it is now look at it like going to a car dealership. Right now we all pay to have a car and we all pay the same price and we all get Ferraris. If they have their way, you will be paying the same price as before but only get to drive a Festiva. To drive that Ferrari still, you will have to pay Ferrari prices. But since you have more money than the festiva and not enough for a ferrari, we can offer you up a Malibu level car, maybe a Caravan level, or maybe a Lexus level. Its all up to you but you still dont get what you had before.

@ B-Hazard - Source? I couldn`t find one scientific source to confirm that. There is something called the Chandler Wobble (or the Variation of Latitude) which has a period of 433 days. Every site I found that confirmed the whole wobble thing (it shall henceforth be known as the Wobble Apocalypse) only said that the wobble was called "Earth`s Wobble," which is way too generic for it to actually be anything real. I also couldn`t find any scientific info on an actual even called "Earth`s Wobble." Did you seriously get your info from one of those sites?

Why would DC want to do this? Simple really, it boils down to censorship. The group in the video here are right about one thing. Without Net Neutrality, the small sites will wither and die. Also with them will be the porn sites. That to most congressmen and women is a plus to this idea of Non-Neutrality and thats how it is being sold in DC. Sure this will allow the Communications companies to make money but our kids are now safer for it arent they? Like television in order to get airtime you have to pay for it. In this net structure websites will have to pay for access on different ISP networks. Local ISPs will be a thing of the past. They will get bought out by the conglomerates like Bell did back in the 80s with telephone comapanies.

Ma Bell was brought down by the anti-trust laws, so DC has been hard at work to make sure this doesnt happen again if you go to my ZDnet link i posted you will see that the FCC portion of congress has been working at rewriting the laws to allow for the loss of net neutrality and at the same time do away with the anti-trust asspects that will keep conglomerates from owning the internet wholesale.

WAKE UP PEOPLE! This isnt about the net folding up mysteriously or the end of the world. This is about the net disappearing as we know it and turning into a commercial desert wasteland of corporate america. Do yourself a favor and take a trip over to

corporations could definitely do this, but all it takes is one organization to offer unlimited access and steal everyone else`s subscribers. Also, such a conspiracy on a grand scale is likely to provoke antitrust action by the U.S. government, and probably even stricter action in Europe even before that.

"Ya right, thats rediculous, and if it happened the protests would be so big it would be rediculous"

Not if every potential protester contents him or herself with posting comments like this and then does nothing. I mean, think about it. Ok, so it might seem unlikely and since I don`t know much about how the Internet works, I can`t say if this is true or not, but didn`t something like that happen to radio? I recall reading that once upon a time there were tons of indie channels and then they got gradually weeded out untill only a few mainstream channels were left.

Whatever the truth may be, we shouldn`t underestimate the passivity of the masses. A lot of things were successfully pulled off by various dubious people in power through out history. The "it-can`t-be-true-because-we`d-hear-more-about-it-if-it-was" events often became the "how-come-we-let-that-happen" events.

@double L7> Hence the idea that the net as we know it will fall by that time. The 2012 date is simpley coincidental and arbitrary. It all depends on how long it takes to pass the laws that will defeat net neutrality. So long as key members or congress keep batting it down Net Neutrality will ensue. What really needs to happen is to enact legislation that will seal Net Neutrality in an Iron Clad law. Something that cant be repealed, overwritten, or worked around. Then we can all breath a sigh of relief. This isnt so much a battle for free speech or the ideal of free exchange so much as it is fighting back at corporate america and standing up for something we the people built.

Yes thats right, we built the internet into what it is now. Sure it was started with some college geeks in libraries, but it wouldnt be what it is now if we the people had not latched onto its possiblities and exploited them to the ends they were ultimately ment for. Same happend with radio, and subsequently television. When Marconi and Tesla first sent and recieved their signals, it was the beginning of something grand and beautiful. A generation later and people anywhere could hoist up an antenna and broadcast a signal that others could listen to. A generation after that, fledgling corporate america decided that the radio was something that could be exploited. Around the same time US govt. decided this medium needed standardization and in the process found a buck or two that could be made in that process through "liscence" fees.

Then came television. Same thing as radio really so the FCC already had their grubby little hands waiting for the big bucks to come in television frequency liscensing. And the only people that could afford this exhorbitant fee for both the equipment and liscense, were companies already in the business of broadcasting. So we only get what they wanted us to see, it was true then and its true now. So we found a medium now that was unregulated and unfettered with censorship. A veritable open forum of sorts, that allowed all an equal and unrestricted voice to vent their opinions and frustrations. As well as sharing of data that would normally be inaccessible to some. Then big business also found useful ways of employing this medium to better life not only for them but everyone else. The internet has been the single most productive invention in the history of man with the lone exception of fire.

Now big business wants to take it out of our proven capable hands, and begin regulating how we use it. The audacity of these fat men in 1000 dollar suits is astounding. If this outrages you, and it should, then I ask that you do something more than stand by and complain. Write, call, or visit your senators, congressmen, and statesmen. All can be done using the very thing we are fighting for. I have found this link

    http://www.savetheinternet.com

I know im commenting on this WAY late, but here is something you might not be factoring in. Based on the comments posted here, most of your are assuming that this will be some sort of light switch. Flick, suddenly ISPs change their format. In that scenerio you would be right, there would be mass uprising. But companies aren`t that stupid, in fact, they are exactly the opposite. Companies hire marketing geniusses that know it takes a couple of years worth of slow changes and marketing projects to pull off a complete paradigm shift. A good example of slow market paradigm shift would be iTunes. Yes people still download mp3s for free, but your mainstream sheep all own an iPod and all pay for music on iTunes. Apple successfully turned the mainstream sheep away from "illegal" downloads and towards a profitable venture.

So they know how to get the sheep to obediently follow along. Look at the government. How many of the freedoms we never appreciated are missing now? How many do you even notice being gone? Have you changed the way you talk on the phone even though you know the government is illegaly recording every conversation? How about our right to peacefull assembly? Do you find it strange that to put on a show/demonstration/parade requires a permit that you must pay for? How about starting a private members club? Ever wonder what it now takes to start a club that holds meetings? Or do you not try and think about it?

So this might be a couple of people trying to start some viral video rumors, but i can see the wheels turning. The "metering" of net usage by time warner is a good example of subtle changes toward that ultimate goal. After all, we are willing to pay $5.00/gal for gas, you think we intercrack addicts mind paying for access? Next step? Access to mainstream search engines and mainstream media sites won`t count towards your metered quota. After that? Tiered pricing where access to mainstream media/search engines are still free, access to national websites price A, access to international sites, price B. After that? National Proxy Filters, Sites like mininova will be filtered out and redirected to godaddy.com or some crap. Then the eventual packge and tiered programs will be placed in and you won`t even know what it was like with free unlimited access to any and all sites...
