Kinda makes you feel like an idiot standing there with your lame piece-of-crap Guitar Hero guitar, doesn"t it?

Unfortunately, unless he has actual creativity in him, he will not be remembered one hundred years from now. Creativity and innovation are more important than skill.

ok first of all hes probably like 12 or 13. all asian parents lie about their prodigy kids` ages. second, thats nothing compared to the crazy violinists you see who are the same age.
that being said, its pretty cool...

ZOMFG he is like so super wicked awesome [insert more superlatives at your peril] at guitar!

I started at about 8 or 9, so maybe in 8 or 9 years, I`ll be as good as... oh wait, it has been 8 years. DAMMIT!!!! >-(

I`d love to meet him and ask him some questions, unless he can`t speak English, in which case it would be a bit of a wasted visit...

ugh im not belittling the kid, i already gave him props for only being 8, if you READ the COMMENT.
BUT, im saying its not genius, its hard work, in which he was PROBABLY PUSHED BY HIS PARENTS/ TEACHERS AND AS SUCH DOES NOT EXPERIENCE REGULAR LIFE AT THAT AGE! to be able to play and remember someone else`s songs takes longer than coming upw ith your own and you constantly have to play them to remember them (few times a week usually to keep top of your game) jees people can be stupid... I.AM.NOT.BELITTLING HIM.
HE.IS.NOT.A.GENIUS.
HE.IS.JUST.HARD.WORKING.
PROBABLY.BEING.EXPLOITED/PUSHED.BY.PARENTS
3-4 months hard work = him.
can you understand i am not criticising HIM in ANY WAY! i am critising you for thinking he`s a "genius" or some stupid thing like that, "yay im a genius because i can play other people`s songs that they worked hard on"
fail.

They`re not better at everything, they`re just more. If one in a thousand people would have amazing abilities or whatever, USA would have 300.000 amazing people, and Japan like...I have no idea, just a lot more.
(He`s pretty good though)

To everyone who said that this is no feat:

I teach guitar for a living. It takes the most disgusting level of dedication to pull that out of anyone less that 12. Good on him.

You see (I`m not trying to be rascist) most asians get coached in education. Yes it`s true but most of the Australian selective schools (you have to pass a hard test) are populated by coached asians. But instead of being coached educationally, this boy has been coached in music. You will never understand how much work they give you unless you have a friend who tells you. And plus, ive benn playing for about 5 years now, and this kid is better than me =P

Rotomorph, nobody cares. There is absolutely NO excuse for one musician to belittle another. Ego is a crutch, and nobody will ever reach their full potential thinking they are better than everyone else.

"
Meh, i wasn`t impressed. Nothing that a year of practicing 1 hour a day wont do... I know, i actually play 4 hours a day for 3 years allows me to play even harder stuff than "Crazy Train" (not a hard solo), or Crossrodes which is just pentatonic scales. Clapton is a joke & Randy didn`t give it his best on Crazy Train."

You`re forgetting something Parasy...HE`s EIGHT! Most eight year olds are battling cooties and collecting fad items. Say what you want about Clapton, he`s been a professional for 40 some years, you can badmouth him when you can outplay him AND outwrite him.

it`s cool that he can play guitar like that and all, but it makes you wonder. i wonder if he acts like a little kid, raather than playing guitar all the time. does he go outside and be a little boy...?

"The Japanese may have great focus and excel at anything they put their minds to, but they still read porn on the subway and buy panties out of vending machines. Sickos..."

If you had half a brain, you`d realize that the Japanese have a far different system of morals than the Western ones- where an exposed nipple is considered psychologically damaging but violence is A-OK.

Well at least we know there is some talent where people can play an actualy guitar instead of trying to act cool play 5 notes. if you beat expert at guitar hero - YOU`RE NOT BAD ASS. why don`t you ntry and be good at an actual instrument.

Is it wrong to enjoy playiong guitar Hero. Isn`t the point of video games being able to live out fantasy of something you can`t do for real. I mena I always see people bashing GH, and they say things like "why don`t you quite being a douchebag and go learn to play a real guitar!" Well then by that rational, if someone is playing GTA IV should we that that person "Hey! quite being a douchebag and go carjack, murder and steal for real!" Of course not. Bottom line I appreciate the klids skill with the guitar and NO I don`t feel like an idiot standing there with my lame piece-of-crap Guitar Hero guitar

ha well i don`t think some of you guys are really getting it... like i`m usually the humble type but yeah i`m definitely better then that kid was, doesn`t prove anything because i`m also 19 years old, that kid is 8, he has yet to develop motor and mental skills completely yet... so yeah, I was impressed... more power to him, and i`m glad his rents are raising him on the blues (-:

Also, I lol`d at how big that guitar looks on him.

ugh, HE.IS.NOT.A.GENIUS/GIFTED BOY/IMMENSE GUITAR PLAYER!
Average at best, +1 for being 8 and most likely having parents pushing him to be good :/.
THAT`S IT!
4-6 months of playing 2 hours a day with a half decent teacher = that level, easily.
songs weren`t that hard to play, the VIDEO was EDITED, more than likely that they edited out the hundreds of times he drated up...god why do people not think sometimes :/
Yes i play guitar, yes i can 100% say i am better than him, im only 15, played for 3 years, top that mutha drata.

@ParasyT

EXACTLY, people confuse perseverance and determination; with talent, I`ve played guitar for two years and really like it so i`ve gotten pretty damn good at it. On teh other hand i`ve played trumpet for a decade and just don`t really feel any passion for it so i`m just ok at it. Now does that mean i`m not talented at trumpet? No. Does it mean I`m talented at guitar? No. All it means is that i devoted the time to something to get good at it. It`s amazing that we seem, as a culture, to have become so enamored with instant gratification that people who devote the time to get good at something just blow our minds and we reckon that they must be touched by the hand of the divine

Awww, ^^ he`s so cute with the flying v! And that some kick-ass guitar skills. But yeah, I don`t see why people make a big deal at being able to play expert on GH. I mean, it was awesome when it first came out, but now it`s getting old. I mean, who cares anymore? It`s much cooler to be able to play songs on a real guitar, not some little plastic controller with five buttons =( .

really doesn`t bother me too much, not that i play guitar hero. But you know really think about it, howmany videos do we have of these asian "prodigies" and how many have gone on to do great things? to my knowledge, in the case of kids like this, none. It`s impersonation not innovation, asians are just IMO more patient to things like music, martial arts, school, and so they get very good at concepts that they are introduced to but oftentimes they don`t expand upon those concepts like westerners tend to do. There are exceptions but by and large this has been my experience with stuff like this.
