As a homeschooler I was vaguely offeneded, but mostly by the ignorant comments here...

"Oh my golly, I hope my mom didn`t hear me say stupid"

ROTFL I know at least two homeschooled families where this is true!!
A year ago my mother got a call from their mother telling her that I said "retarded" lol.

I went to a bunch of public schools and had a lot of home schooled friends too. I can honestly say I`ve seen this stereotype more in the public schools. And the kid was kind of cute. =p

Hahaha!
Nickel to the person who counts up all of the posts believing that was real!
Ya theres no way he would put the crickets noise in and all of the other things he did if it was a serious video. Theres also no way his radio would be wrong, etc. I do have to compliment his acting, even Stephen Colbert cracks up sometimes. And if you think Stephen Colbert really believes what he says, then get off the internets and start talking to people until you develop a general sense of humor.

He`s not homeschooled... he`s trying to act gay. There is a difference. Besides, I think he`s faking, he just wants to get attention by acting like all the stupid people on youtube. He totally made all that crap up.

Nazarene: I was talking to LKJSlaine, and not about the video. If all of her friends were home-schooled, then how could she compare her friends to public school children without knowing them... she`d likely use stereotypes and that would render her arguement that home-schooled children are "smarter, wiser, and more socially acceptable" as moot.

As far as the video goes... if it wasn`t obvious to someone that it was a satire then they should probably retire back under their rock... they wouldn`t be able to understand most of modern society.

Did anyone take this video seriously? Could you not spot it as stereotypical homeschool-bashing spoof?

Also, just to rip on your theory that the reason your friends are making roughly $30/hour is because they were home-schooled... my boyfriend just turned 24, he has been working at a company as a LAN Support Specialist making just under $30/hour, and he went to the same public school system I attended.
Also, the amount of your paycheck doesn`t necessarily make you "smarter, wiser," or, "socially acceptable." There are plenty of weirdos making the big bucks and there are plenty of intelligent people who make next to nothing. You might as well say that all teachers or volunteers for various charitable causes must be idiots because they don`t make a lot of money.
An example of people making lots of money who aren`t particularly smart: mill workers at the mill close to where I live. Most of those people didn`t make it past the 8th grade, they are dirty and rude and ignorant, and yet they make at least $75,000 a year.

Ooh... LKJSlain.. yes how much money your friends make is because they were home-schooled and are therefore worthy of making that amount of money. And I`m sure that if they hadn`t followed in the path of the one and only true lord, Jesus Christ then they`d be working for McDonald`s and shooting heroin... right?
Do you have some sort of impossible to repress need to make yourself sound like an ignorant arrogant fool? I swear every time you pop up you have some reason to say why you and the people you know are better than the rest of the population whether it be for your religious beliefs or because you were home-schooled. You just said ALL of your friends were home-schooled and then you say that they were better than public schooled children... did you even know any public school children intimately? How can you compare... stereotypes do not a decent argument make.

wow... I love people who don`t do their homework (sarcasm)... Growing up, all of my friends were homeschooled (I was homeschooled to,) and I can honestly say, that MOST homeschooled children that I knew were SMARTER, WISER and more socially acceptable than ANY public school child anywhere. In fact, a couple of them are now (at 22 -25) making about 30$ an hour.

Awww, I wanna cuddle him and have him do my nails! We can talk about tomato plants and have a stuffie sleepover!

but srsly, the only homeschooled kids I`ve ever known were homeschooled because A:

The parents were religious nuts who wanted to protect their child from the outside world--they didn`t have a T.V, had never seen a movie in the theater, and the only books they were allowed to read had suffocatingly religious themes;

and B,

They were too warped mentally to be around other kids. The boy, if left to his own devices, would gallop around the classroom ripping up papers and yelling about VBS in this weird sing-song. The girl would just sit in the corner and shake, her eyes slowly going wider and freakishly wider as the day wore on. Finally she`d give a single piercing shriek, then fall silent again until the day ended.

I still live next door to them. They keep their cats locked in the basement and never let them come upstairs to roam the house.

"but b4 homeschooled kids bitch about how normal they are...i want to add that if ur completly normal and just happened to be homeschooled...then there is no reason for you to be homeschooled in the first place"

Indeed you are ignorant. I do have friends, a life, and a job. Saying "you have no reason to be home schooled" is really stupid. I`ve been home schooled for 3 years and I`m happy to be doing it that way. Unlike most of my former friends I am Not a druggie, and Not an alcoholic and that`s due to both my morals and being out of peer pressure. So go ahead and say we`re not normal. Cause with todays world can you say that normal is better?

Either way, when you`re sitting in a classroom I will be out enjoying the day.

"Yes its obvious that Overmann is well adjusted thats why he uses a picture of Hannibal Lecter as an avatar."

Believe it or not, my avatar selection was spur of the moment and I haven`t changed it because it was too much of a hassle getting it to upload in the first place. Why did I have that picture on my desktop? Because it`s classy.

"I`m going to let the name Overmann slide as it may be simply a last name..."

That`s exactly what it is, although it`s based off a fictional character. I remember one user separated the `over` from `mann` and tried to suggest I had a superiority complex.

"if ur completly normal and just happened to be homeschooled...then there is no reason for you to be homeschooled in the first place"

How wonderfully narrow-minded of you. I was homeschooled after being in German public school for a number of years because my parents didn`t want me to get caught up on any curriculum gap when transferring to American public school.

I`m being home schooled at the moment. I`m perfectly normal. I have friends (that aren`t stuffed animals) and I go out (not with my parents).

But seriously LMFAO at this! This is so hilarious! Even being a homeschooled kid, this is hilarious! x]

home schooled people are kinda weird. no, i take that back, parents who home school their children are weird. We used to have a next door neighbor who pulled her kids out of public school to home school them because "god came to her and told her she HAD to do it." she said "I talk to god all the time and he told me to do this."

Nice people.. the wife was a nut though.. obviously. anyways this kid kinda reminds me of their boys.. withdrawn, antisocial and weird.

Every kid gets a different experience when homeschooled. Sometimes it`s for better or for worse. Same goes for public schools imo. It always comes down to how good the parents are for both.

boring

i don`t like the idea homeschooling kids...they don`t learn to interact with other kids and can become social hermits

mostly its used for religious reasons, to brain wash ur kids...

but if you have some real problem like a dieseas or learning disability..then i think its fine to be homeschooled

but b4 homeschooled kids bitch about how normal they are...i want to add that if ur completly normal and just happened to be homeschooled...then there is no reason for you to be homeschooled in the first place

This makes me sad.
Most of the kids I know who act like this actually go to public school.

I`ve met a few kids who were homeschooled, and(with the exception of the mentally challenged) are actually MORE outgoing than their public-school counterparts.

Why? Because they don`t have teachers telling them to tuck in their shirts or how to dress, and they don`t have kids calling them "douchebag" every five seconds because 3 years ago they decided to wear a pink t-shirt.

Then again, it depends if the parent teaching them is an oppressive douchebag or not, as well. XD

This reminds me vaguely of the leave Britney alone guy. But I don`t think it`s him. -_-;;

Unless your parents have a teaching degree, homeschooled kids are likely to become socially retarded idiots who can`t get a job bagging groceries. Like the two next door to me, who are in their 20s and follow mama around the house all day and watch cartoons.

I know quite a few home schooled kids, all of whom are perfectly normal, well-liked kids, not the backward social misfits they are made out to be in videos like this.

It`s a shame people make sweeping judgments based on a couple of spelling bee winners who have obviously been warped by cave-dwelling turbo-Christian power parents.
