I think its oddly entertaining that something so insignificant matters to someone so much, must be an insecurity, however, nobody has the right to physically touch another human being, especially an adult to a child, i hope someone shaves the teachers head lol

This is outrageous, and anyone who says otherwise is drating 12. No one has the right to change how you look without your permission.

If you think that hair is unimportant and doesn`t matter then fine, thats your right, just like its her right to decide that her hair IS important to her, and who the F*CK are you to tell her she`s wrong?

She said she has NEVER cut her hair before, not once in her entire life has she her hair been cut, but now thats not true, and she can NEVER have that back.

My hair isn`t anywhere near as important to me as it seems to be to her, but if I had decided that my hair was important to me, and some drating teacher though they had the right to walk up and take it away, like its their drating right to decide things about my body, ohh my drating god. I would be WAY more pissed than she was in this video. I would be FURIOUS.

I have long hair (no where near that, about a foot and a half maybe?), I would be infuriated if someone even attempted to do that. No lie, honestly, if put in a situation where someone was trying to cut my hair without my permission, I think I would react in a rather violent fashion.

Regardless of the hair issue, it is NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, right for a teacher to do that to a student. You may think it`s silly, but look at it this way: you just got a new shirt, or a new necklace, or whatever the case and the teacher decides to ruin it. No big deal? No, you would be infuriated. If anything this is worse, it`s not just property, it`s someone`s body.

Maybe I`m going overboard, but I think this teacher should be terminated, regardless of her side of the story. There are no circumstances where this should be perceived as "right."

Also, knock off the goddamn fat jokes you immature twats, we get it already, it wasn`t that funny the first time - it`s not funny now.

I`m...pretty sure those effed up ends are from the teacher messing with her hair...The way she talked made her seem like she really did care about how her hair looked and she wouldn`t let the ends go like that I don`t think.

I have hair up to where it is on that girl now

I`d be pissed if some random teacher came up to me and even took off one inch

Imagine it like this: You`re doing something important, wether on a game or project of some sort, and BAM! You didn`t save and everything turns off. Suddenly, you have to rewrite everything you did, or play that game from the last save point or wherever, or you have to rebuild that whole house of cards you spent hours on.

Well that`s how I see it anyways.

I mean at school I am the girl with the long hair, and I know that if I cut I wouldn`t feel like me anymore, so I know where she`s coming from.

But i wouldn`t have cried. I would`ve gotten those scissors and cut that damn ladies hair right off! If it wasn`t a wig xP

"it`s fine to have long hair if you actually take care of it.
And the ends looked ratty because that teacher obviously didn`t attend beauty school."

And it can`t POSSIBLY be years of dried, dead split ends from never having her hair trimmed, could it?

Jesus Christ, its HAIR for gods sake. Bunch of cells and protein and yet not only her, but other on here are talking about how attached they are to their hair, how devastated they are when it was cut, how they don`t trust hair dressers.

What are you going to do when you are old and start to thin or even go bald, jump out a window?

When I was 12 I had thick, waist length blonde hair. I swam with a braid and it somehow became so knotted there was no other option but to cut it off at chin length. I wasn`t wild about the idea, but I agreed.

Seven years later I could never imagine myself with long hair. Not to mention I save time in the mornings sleeping in than messing with my hair.

About the video: did you see those nasty, ratty dead ends? The girl needed a trim.

Female 236
Perhaps she spends all lesson playing with that disgusting mane of hair, which would be distruptive. The teacher probably only had the intention of trimming the dead ends, since there`s only 3 or so inches gone. If the teacher was really being malicious a lot more would have come off.

The teacher sure has nothing better to do. If a student`s hair isn`t allowed to be that long, and If the girl doesn`t wanna cut her hair for whatever reason, just call up her parents. Taking it into her own hands is wrong and unprofessional. Especially laughing at the girl when she cried.
But when the girl said that her hair was her identity... o.O

I am so totally completely on the girls side. No matter what she was doing, that is not a punishment. Detention, suspension, saturday school, expulsion. Those are punishments. Not going up and chopping three inches of someone`s hair off.

And to those of you saying it was no big deal, you...obviously don`t understand. The girl looked like she took real pride in her hair, and I actually thought it looked well taken care of and pretty...until the ends, where it was hacked off. Not everyone has pretty eyes, or a pretty smile, or is pretty. But some people can do pretty hair. I understand where this girl is coming from, because I also take pride in my hair, and if some teacher ever came up and just started cutting it, yeah her scissors would end up in her eye socket.
And to those of you making comments on her weight, and how it -somehow- relates to her not having the right to complain about the one thing she was happy with about herself....Go eat a diseased cookie. :C

to anyone who thinks that this was "just hair," you need to realize that the teacher committed battery (assault too, if the girl saw it coming even a moment before it happened). any injurious or objectively offensive touching constitutes battery - cutting this girl`s hair off was obviously offensive. what do you think would happen if i just walked up to a random woman on the street and cut off 3 inches of her hair?

I agree with everyone who`s stated that the teacher had no right to cut the girls hair. It might have been "just hair", but the woman had no right to even touch the girl, let alone cut off something that was attached to her. I don`t know about filing a lawsuit or anything, but I do think some disciplinary action should be taken.

So, yeah, the teachers shouldn`t ever touch students and it was wrong of the teacher to do so. That doesn`t mean, though, that the girl didn`t have disgusting hair. Personally, I would have known her as the fat kid who can`t take care of her hair, not "the girl with long hair." But, no, the teacher DIDN`T have the right to do that.

Yes, it seems like hair is not really a big issue. Bunch of dead cells, big woop, right? The actual issue is that the woman just came off and cut it with no real apprent reason. Say the teacher doesn`t like your jacket. You deside to take it off and then woops! No more jacket! No big deal, right? It`s just a jacket!

I think the teacher was very wrong for doing something like this. It doesn`t matter that it was only hair. It was not the teacher`s hair and that teacher did not have any right to do such a thing, whether or not she had "warned" the girl in the past that it was going to happen. If the teacher had come up to her with a razor and shaved off a slice would it THEN make you think it was wrong? I haven`t heard the teacher`s side to this story, but there is next to nothing that she could say that would validate this action in my eyes.

Yeah, the girl was making a big deal over just a few inches, but the fact that the teacher was even *threatening* to do something like cut a student`s hair is really off. Whether you care about the length of your hair or not, that just seems like such a weird intrusion of personal space... Hair has nothing to do with school, and the punishment should address the wrong behavior. And if her hair *was* part of some behavioral problem, she should have just been required to put it in a bun or something.... not having some teacher coming at you with scissors and cutting it off... that`s messed up.

And I know lots of girls with self-image problems who have super long hair, and they take great pride in the fact that it has never been cut. It may be strange and a little unreasonable, but a teacher has no right to physically alter something that is such an important part of a child`s image, whether it seems silly or not.

That took more words than necessary. I apologize. :P
