this is the most rediculous thing ever. If you are 14, and you know what 69ing is, odds are everyone else does too, this is a case of pure stupidity, if you don`t think it`s appropriate, don`t wear it RULE OF THUMB

She should have put the shirt off and say that since they`re not pleased by it she will go to school just like that.
No, seriously, how does such stuff get on television? Are you people living in paradise so that a damn stupid teenage self-expression leads to such a fuss and heated discussion? I have no words.

>DAMN SCHOOL NATZIS!!!!

"The rap group 69 Boyz must also be banned from all public places and classified under pornography, since obviously it is a reference to a sex act and not because all its members were born in 1969."

Well, 2 Live Crew was banned. Close enough

And there are certain things that do imply sex. If I wore a shirt that said Doggystyle, I can make the excuse saying that it was based on an old snoop dogg album but it wont fly.

"Who cares if those 8 random lines forms a Swastika to some people? It`s just 8 lines!"

I imagine that if I were Buddhist or Hindu and a school tried to ban the swastika, which is an important spiritual symbol of both religions, I would be pretty pissed.

Why stop at the number 69? I recommend we ban the number sequence nine one one, lest it remind anyone of the terrorist attack. Because, you know, when someone is bleeding on the floor and calls for help the last thing they need is to be reminded of that tragic day.

We should also retroactively remove all historical dates from 1969 and switch them to 1968. Any references to the number `69` should be stricken from all records, since it is inappropriate to use a number associated with a sex act.

The rap group 69 Boyz must also be banned from all public places and classified under pornography, since obviously it is a reference to a sex act and not because all its members were born in 1969.

Get your head out of your rear

Damn, what the hell is up with all these schools overreacting with the stupidest and most trivial things in the world? It`ll soon be to the point where if you wear a shirt that says "Firetruck" they`ll suspend you and say "It has the word f*ck in it!"

Nowadays, many numbers can get you suspended. 420, 88, 1488, 69, 110100100 (420 in binary). That`s right, they make shirts with the binary one.

And let`s be honest, the girls not stupid... she knew the number would bring attention.

I`m sick of repeating myself to you thick-headed fools. The shirt (as i explained before) is clearly sexual in it`s intent (if you don`t believe me, read my previous posts). Also she deserved to be suspended, she had fair warning, In case you guys missed it, near the end they said her sister WORE THE SAME SHIRT the week before and they made her change and told her never to wear it again. Then she decided to wear the shirt. There was fair warning, it would be one thing if it was another family but it was the girls sister, just because one can get away with it dosen`t mean the other one can`t. If the school simply said "change, and don`t wear it again" then they would appear to be the weak ones in the situation as they already did that to her sister. In my opinion they are making a well-deserved example of the girl and she deserved it, the tramp!

Do schools just automatically suspend students now? For gods sake, just tell the girl to cover up and not wear it again...send a note home to the `rents, give her something from lost and found to wear...whatever...just quit suspending everyone who looks at you crosseyed!! I think teachers have reached a point where they just don`t want to deal with anything anymore. No wonder the US is falling behind in education...we worry more about the stupidest stuff than any other nation! Who gives a rap what her shirt says as long as she behaves in class and learns...time enough to dress like a `grown up` later. Jeez...guess that got me riled up...sorry for the rant!

BTW...I graduated in `69 (I know, I`m really old) so I liked the shirt!

And the principle SHOULD have let the girl tell her what she thought of the shirt. And if she had no clue, well then, waht`s the harm? But, other students are another story. But.... If the school is THAT strict, well then, whoever says anything about it should be suspended! Like i said, anything can be made to show some form of sex in any mind these days! Examples:
Peantuts, haha balls.
Rap, haha strippers.
A red cup, haha frat party.
A pen, haha penis.
Taco, haha vagina.
Bowling ball, haha boobs.
Icecream cone, haha oral sex.
See, they can`t have ANY of that isn scholls, it all can be made to resemble sex somehow.

quicksand: Are you really trying to tell me that whoever made the shirt didn`t have something sexual in mind? If you didn`t, please read my comments above. She was given fair warning (Her sister wore the same shirt and was told never to wear that shirt again) so I don`t blame the school at all. And yes I am sure your angel kids would never do anything wrong or whatever, but come on this is the real world, not some fantasy world. You say "It`s just a number and it dosen`t mean anything unless you take it that way" well let me know when you see a 14 year old girl wear a shirt that says "Freshman 35" or "Junior 29" or "Senior 78" etc. I don`t wear shirts with random numbers on them or class years which I never belonged to. In short: It`s a sexual shirt that is trying to be disguised as a class year shirt, that it was it was intended to be when it was made. -end of rant for now-

Even if it says 69 with intended sexual meaning behind it, the school has no right to suppress self expression. Sex is not something that will physically damage you. What is the big deal about the subject of sex being banned in schools? If you ask me, the school is being quite immature.

It isn`t a shirt with just some random number on it, and let`s be honest, anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot. That shirt was created and sold with 69 on it with that exact connotation of the number in mind. This girl is just playing innocent to get people to feel sorry for her (and it`s working, looks like). She knew she was wearing a sexually explicit shirt to a middle school, and should have expected punishment. Hell, I can just see her sitting with her friends giggling "jejejeje, 69! I`m so gonna wear this!".

But the question of whether the school should have punished her is different. Really, the worst they should have done was send her home for the day, or make her change the shirt. They only way I can excuse the school`s punishment would be- 1. If they wanted to make an example out of her, to prevent further misconduct, 2. if she had some sort of disciplinary history, or 3. if she threw a huge fit when they just asked her to do something light like change.

@ primetime: "IAB rule #4: If your in school, dont wear a shirt."

Actually prime, IAB rule #4 is: Run a grammar check. Or attend remedial English classes. You`re choice (see what I did there?).

Georgia has become very strict with it`s school clothing regulation or so i noticed in my later years of high school - can`t show any shoulders or stuff. Villa rica is located in GA if anyone was wondering.

Dumb, but I`d just be like, ok. I won`t wear that shirt to school. Just like I don`t wear my Corona shirt.

Wow. How moronic. Hey, you know, my dad is 60. In 9 years he`ll be a major pervert, since that number has only one meaning.

Before y`all get bent - she`s under 18. She doesn`t have "freedom of expression." She`s at school, under the authority of the principal and teachers there and they can tell her what she can and cannot wear.

Now, whether the school was overreacting is a different story.

And a better world under Communist China? Are you serious? Or just that ignorant?

By the way, my apologies, I misspelled the word on the shirt. The shirt says "SOPhmORe 69" (The capped letters are prominately displated with the lower case letters are faded [all the letters are in upper caps])

Naw no scarcasm here, just an observation. I don`t know I guess the fact that her sister wore it a week before she did and her sister was told never to wear the shirt again kind of pissed me off. I mean if you sister isn`t allowed to wear the shirt why are you? It`s not like there was no warning though, I mean sure suspension may have been a little much, detention or something might have been a better punishment, but I believe the school made the right decision.

Let`s stop siding with the whiny 14 year old sluts in training and get real people. Dumb mother, dumb girl. Sure the school may have gone overboard but they did warn her sister and then she brazenly wears the same shirt a week later, a simple "no" obviously won`t do here

Actually if you saw the video the shirt said SOPhomORe 69 with the hom and e in faded letters so the shirt prominately says SOP OR 69. Now SOP as defined by urban dictionary can mean "Standard Operating Procedure" (Not likely in this case) or "Sex on Plane" "Sex on Phone". I took it to mean "Suck on Penis" So the SOP is widly open to interpretation. But the shirt says SOP or 69, clearly a sexual message. I`m sorry but I gotta side with the school on this one. I also promise you that the manufacturer of this shirt (seems to be most likely Abercrombie) did not intend people that were even around in 1969 to wear this shirt. This shirt is definately meant to be worn by a teenager and the shirt was made with a sexual refrence in mind. Now in my opinion the shirt was definately not appropiate to be worn by a 14 year old. Let`s not forget that her sister wore the same shirt to school a week before and was told not to wear it again. Let`s stop siding wit

That school is stupid, if I`d been the girl I`d have played dumb and made them explain 69ing to me and then sued them for talking about something graphically sexual with a minor.

Awesome mum. And yes, that quote is perfect.

You want to tell your children that the number 69 is bad? So now what, when you count to 100 do you want to skip number 69?

IDIOTS.
