Why did typing that just make me laugh? Dammit, I was serious. :(
For sure it`s a terrible thing for ANYONE, i cant even imagine. But that chick looks like someone who wouldnt give two hoots about anyone but herself till something like this happens to them. I dont want to judge a book by it`s cover, but come on people! She TOTALLY does, u guys know the type! She`s very pretty, and she`ll meet some guy who doesnt care in the least about her missing feet. But i would bet money that she was a total b**** before this happened to her.
I agree with the people who sympathize with her. The rest of you calling her a brat - yeah, say that to her face! See how you all would like it getting your feet chopped off on an amusement ride at the age of 13. You`re all pathetic.
Only thing I didn`t like about her was her being a tad over-dramatic and giving details on her pain. It`s ALMOST like she was playing the pity card. But attention-wh**** is not the right way to put it. She *is* trying to help after all. Give her a break.
Gonna Be RICH!"No one should ever have to go through what I went through or others have gone through".
No one should ever have to go through what anyone else has to go through....GENIUS!
I also like the use of "sucks". shows composer, maturity. I would have died inside if I was the mom.
crux: Six Flags is at fault, and can be sued, but they are settleing out of court.
To all you brats calling her a brat: I`d shut the hell up until something tragic happens to you. She lost an appendage, you`d be pissed too.
Lastly, increased FEDERAL legislation is not going to help. When they finally get around to compiling the statistics, it will be around 90% riders at fault. If you jump from a moving vehicle (and living in Orlando, I know it happens all the time) don`t expect to come out of it. The other 10% is tragic, but rare and I believe the states do a good job regulating the industry.
Besides, if the amusement park industry was dangerous, you wouldn`t come spend your money.
You cant sue amusement parks, if anything goes wrong it was your decision not theirs. I think they are smarter then that.
And the weirdest thing, I remember looking at the ride once while passing it and saying "I wonder, is it safe for the cables to be exposed like that?" My husband brushed it off saying "I Dunno." and I said "Well I guess it couldn`t do to much damage if it snapped."
on the one hand, she is acting like losing her feet is the worst thing that could ever happen to a person. accidents happen, and considering that it could`ve been a lot worse, and there are plenty of people in the world that live in worse circumstances, she should count herself lucky.
but on the other hand, the six flags people could`ve prevented the accident by properly checking the equipment before the day. yes, i know they check the rides every morning, but things can get overlooked by someone that isn`t paying attention.
Why can`t she go in a wheelchair? What`s interupting her from living a normal life?
From what I understand it`s only been 11 months so the pain might be why she can`t go but come on... get over it.
My girlfriend had her left leg amputated 3 months ago and we went to see Iron Man in theater like we used to before. No big deal.
Cut her some slack you mooseheads!
I`m not saying, "she bought a ticket, so she should shut up," just pointing out that an amusement park is a potentially VERY dangerous place and contracts like this are in place to protect the operator or else there`d be a lawsuit over anything from a stubbed toe to a broken nail.
The tragedy was due to one of several possible explanations:1) faulty design2) faulty construction3) faulty maintenance4) faulty operation5) faulty patron
Government involvement would also be less effective the further down the list you go or would require substantial manpower and tax dollars.
So in short:Tragic, but will government involvement
And no one ever got their feet severed. We`d had like, 2 or 3 accidents from rollercoasters there, and almost all of them were from the Texas Cyclone, that wooden rollercoaster. None of our metal ones ever screwed up. XD
So, it`s bad luck. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It could be a lot worse. I realize this kind of **** happens to perfectly normal people and most of them just learn to cope. But that`s just a personal choice to be silent, if someone wants to tell these amusement parks to get their crap together and rethink their safety guidelines, then more power to the person. She`ll eventually move on, I agree with that, but it doesn`t hurt to just let people know her experience. Same with everyone else if they want.
And so intelligent sounding. I hope she does something good for the world.
Poor kid... And I think those who are calling her a bratty kid, attention whore, etc. are being a bit mean. Sure, she might sound ticked, but she`s within her rights... I doubt you would be exactly thrilled with things after having a foot severed when you`re a kid.
But honestly I dont think she`s an attention whore. This a terrible thing to happen to someone. Especially to a young person whos life is just starting. Amusement park rides are supposed to be fun and safe. Your acting like she willingly jumped off a cliff or something.
there are people who live their life in pain every day, who can`t walk without help, go to the mall on a regular basis, do everything their friends do, etc, and you don`t hear them complaining about how hard their lives are. she should consider herself lucky that she can go through so much recovery...
I understood where you were coming from until you referred to this issue as a bratty little kids drama. What is wrong with you people?
The Superman Tower of Power ride was one of those magnetically slowed "great drop" rides.
This one, during normal operation, dropped a total of 177 ft.
During faulty operation, apparently, it dropped 179 ft.
about the girl, i think she is perfectly justified in what she is asking. if you got your feet cut off, would you just shrug and say `it could have been worse`? she just wants to make sure that no one goes through what she had to.
Anywho, I agree with everybody that says she needs to suck it up and move on.
doesnt show anything
Oh boo-hoo you lost your feet, you`re a pretty girl, and you have a lot going for you. It could be worse, you could have been hurt a lot worse, suck it up and deal.
I`d need the details of where she was standing when she got her feet chopped off, was she where she was supposed to be?
...yet made me giggle slightly 0_o I`m ashamed :P
Either way, it should never have happened.
