I live in Omaha which is right above Bellevue. The cops are dicks in bellevue. I would have loved to have been stopped by this fat bastard to ridicule his extreme fatness!

When an officer charged with protecting the public clearly demonstrates that he is incable of doing so it is inappropriate for him to remain in that position. Regardless of his weight, his lack of control over his service piece on the gun range represents an unacceptable risk to public safety.

I know many fat people, frankly, I do not believe they would even try to be in police. Bouncers, maybe... but not police. At my school, they used to employ a (quite) fat guy who was so out of shape, simply walking around the school was a burden. During a week-end, we had to go get something in a student room, and not only was he molasses slow to walk there, he took the elevator for one flight of stairs, was drenched with sweat (not counting some odor... we didn`t want to know, frankly). That guy was supposed to do its paces at least once per hour? Give me a break! I know fatter people who are more in shape.

I`m relatively fat myself, not morbidly obese, but not a shining example of a toned body either, and I would so not consider myself a policeman, I think I would do more harm than good in such a role.

Frankly, on his surgeries and diets and stuff, it`s sad, but it goes with the job, like everyone says here. It`s sad, I have understanding feelings for the poor chap, but that`s lif

God. You`re a fat drat. Deal with it. The case should be thrown out by the judge immediately. This is retarded. You cant protect and serve anyone if you cant pass the fitness test.

"Oh I had surgery" "I was dieting". Then take the test again and pass fat drater.

IT`S EASY TO KNOCK THIS GUY, but to be fair... he can take down a perp permanently just by sitting on them... that`s gotta be worth something! And who needs battering rams to knock in those meth-lab doors, just get him to stumble against it... haven`t got a bomb disposal unit handy? No worries, sit on this a minute Parent... Quick! The perp is escaping in a helicopter! Grab the landing strut guy! No wait, don`t jump up for it... I think he`s fine for police work, he just needs to be reassigned to the right departments...

Pardon me for sounding a bit selfish, but I would really rather have all the officers in my local police force to be in top physical condition should a critical life-threatening crisis arise.

Even paper pushing cops should have some physical fitness level, in case someone violent comes into the station. And as for knee conditions, those are probably caused by his weight. Knees aren`t made to deal with 300+ lbs of pressure on them when you walk. If it really was a medical condition that caused him to lose his job, he`d just collect disability. So it had to be self inflicted.

He needs to understand that he can`t save others and is also making things more dangerous for him if he`s a cop.

As a professional criminal I want all of our police officers to look like that. They are so much easier to run away from and also to make fun of.

I sincerely hope Groogle was being sarcastic...

I support the police department`s decision. The report didn`t mention how much severance he got, but I think they should issue a statement that they`d re-instate him if he could meet the necessary physical requirements.

I love the U.S. I really do, if I could (who says I cant) I would make love to it (im remembering the old IAB link of "Green Team" with Will Ferrell) but this is the only place in the world where I have seen people go to Burger King, order 3 Whoppers, an apple pie, and DIET coke... Im the other way around. 3 Cokes 2 Fries and a salad. Oh well.

And Fatty cant get up and wants to be a cop?

I agree with concetra. If you`re in a position that requires you to protect someone, I`d expect you to be physically fit.

Not sure if he`s fat because he eats to much or that it`s a condition that can`t be helped. Either way, you need to be fit to be a cop. There are just some things big guys can`t do.

I think he was treated fair. The standard NYPD physical exam requires you to scale over a 6 foot fence, run up and down 6 flights of stairs, pull and push a 80lbs weight simulator, jog or run 600 yards around cones, Pull a 185lbs dummy 60 yards, and pull the trigger on a replica pistol inside a ring 15 times on each hand without the gun touching the inside of the ring. You have to complete that in 4 minutes 28 seconds or you`re disqualified. Id like to see him accomplish that obstacle. I sure as hell do not want police officers patrolling my neighborhood if they cannot even stand up from a kneeling position.

for the kneeling drill, just tie a cheeseburger to the end of a fishing pole and hang the burger high above his head. I`m sure he`ll be at least more motivated

According to his claim, the reason he has trouble getting up is because of knee surgeries he`s had. If that`s really the case, then even if he was thin the police department would fire him. I`m not sure what his lawyers were trying to do with that comment.

It could take him months to get fit, if they suspend him tehy either have to give him pay, or he has to survive without a job. It`s better for him to be forced to get another job, lose the weight then go back to the police.

Really I think they should just suspend him and allow him time to get fit before allowing him to work again.
