Looks like 95% of the drugs confiscated was marijuana, which really isnt a big deal for college at all. And as far as the guns go I only saw three, thats 3 out of over 100 people and as far as we know, the guns may not have had anything to do with selling drugs.

But I don`t know, the laws are messed up. Of course I believe Meth and Coke should be illegal...those can seriously cause damage...but as for the other stuff I`m really getting sick of the biased propaganda education that doesnt work, the faulty sytem and most of all, the legal "safe" regulated drug companies that are responsible for more deaths than all illegal drugs combined every year (Tobacco-435,000 deaths, Alcohol-85,000 deaths, perscription drugs-32,000 deaths) If there is any "reason" to make drugs illegal it should be to save lives...so why are the drugs that kill the most people, the drugs that happen to be legal?

Oh you are kidding me guys?! Didn`t the propaganda vids you watched in highschool do ANYTHING to scare you away from drugs?
You`ve got to be an idiot to think that taking drugs doesn`t mess with your schoolwork. Stay clean! Be a doctor! Save idiots who jumped into a pool with no water because they where stoned!

i go to State..what freaked everyone out the most wasnt the fact that they had drugs..every campus has them. however, it was the fact that they had all these guns with them..so many people go to frats expecting to just have a good time..a lot of my friends dont trust going to the frats now because we dont know what other kind of stuff theyre hiding besides their roofies

argongas, you`re not really making any point here. What do you mean by pharmaceutical control? Selling it out of Walgreen`s or CVS? You really think that just because it was sold by professionals that there wouldn`t be abuse problems and violence? What would be the point of giving hard, body and mind damaging drugs to people in the first place?? You`re living in a fantasy land. There`s a reason why dangerous narcotics are illegal, and there`s a reason why selling said narcotics is illegal. I don`t care what kind of money there is to be made from selling drugs, if you`re not a complete drating greedy idiot, you won`t put yourself in a risky and possibly fatal situation. THAT is part of the reason that it`s illegal. Do you even know why we have laws?? It is meant to DETER people from doing it in the first place by making it a risky endeavor!

argongas: Drugs will never be legalized in the U.S. It won`t stop the drug lords around the world trying to sell drugs here. And the government won`t be able to regulate or tax it if its homemade. Keeping the drugs illegal helps law enforcement find worse criminals that are probably breaking other laws besides dealing/using drugs. I don`t think the government really cares if drugs are morally good or bad. Heck, the CIA uses drug money to help fund some of their operations. Keeping drugs illegal has more advantages for the government then legalizing them does. Its all about money.

hahaha..I visited a friend that goes to SDSU about six months ago...and got offered weed a bunch of times...it`s pretty bad down there. My favorite was the guy that sneaks up behind you at the trolley station and asks "You practice herbal medicine?" hahaha he`s prbably one of the 96

Maxim86: I`m not saying that coke or crystal meth are great and should be made widely available. But a system of pharmaceutical control is far better than illicit drug trade. With regards to the danger and not selling point - as i stated there will always be demand for drugs. Where there is demand there is money to be made. My comparison of illegalities was simply to make the point that illegal does not necessarily equal bad.

Scotchy: the reason what you said would never happen is the same reason a doctor doesnt go into the operating room drunk off his ass or hopped up on prescription drugs. Making something legal is not the same is giving everyone free access to it. Furthermore if someone wants to be a doctor they have to work pretty damn hard to do it. They also have to be responsible and generally make good life decisions - like knowing when it`s time to take things seriously and when it`s time to relax and knowing the difference between the two.

Another good reason why you shouldn`t do something if it`s illegal, no matter how harmless it is.

^^^ Yeah, that was pretty much my point

I think the more important issue is that they were illegally distributing it. Who cares if they were or were not having it. That`s a lot of illegal substances that were being sold. Although they probably aren`t going to be able to get all the students using drugs on college campuses. And why are they only dealing with stuff like this? What about the number of students all over the US who drink alcohol illegally (being underage)... can`t they work on that to?
Although, I`d hate to have to face the facts about that... I think the drinking age needs to be changed... Let`s start with making legal stuff better for the masses and then deal with the legalizing the illegal stuff.

yea.. drugs are good.. you all are morons.

Here is what will happen to you..

You need a triple bypass, or other major surgery, before your put under anesthesia the doctor comes in, red eyes and all.. "dude.. had the weirdest thing.. sorry late dude.. lets get started.. scalple please.." just as you fall asleep.

I REALLY want to see that.

or.

"Sorry, little Jamie didn`t survive the night, the operating doctor didn`t make it in/ her doctor gave the wrong diagnosis." all because he f`d themself up on coke or x.

What a wonderful world where people believe that is ok, because you honestly believe they will stop once they leave school, or its ok because your know nothing highschool students who want to stick it to the man. I hope they all receive expulsions.

Another thing argongos, you claim that the reason that drug dealing is so dangerous is because it`s illegal? Well then why not just avoid the risk and danger by, you know, NOT F*CKING SELLING DRUGS!

When`s the last time you relaxed with a good book and some crystal meth, argongas? Sit down with a bucket of popcorn a movie and a bag of coke? Once again, you can`t possibly defend these dealers. It wasn`t them just selling a bit of pot, it was a serious business to get seriously damaging drugs to people for profit. I don`t care how much you love weed, it wasn`t just simple pot dealing. I actually have no problem with legalizing marijuana, even though I don`t smoke myself, but you`re an idiot if you think that there`s no difference between illegal downloading and pushing meth and coke. Laws are relative, which is why there are varying degrees of punishment for each, and why there is a judge sitting on a bench to reasonably decide how bad a crime you committed.

for those your criticizing the people who are defending the students arrested, you need more perspective. laws and legality are relative things - if you`ve ever sped in your car, rolled a stop sign, downloaded a song illegally or whatever - guess what, you broke the law too! Until you have an intimate knowledge of how the world of illegal drugs works you are not at liberty to simply say it`s bad and wrong. People like having the ability to alter their states of mind and enhance their ability to relax and enjoy life. It`s an issue of demand. The demand for drugs will never cease to exist, but by making them illegal you perpetuate a system which leads to violence and lawlessness. Because drugs are illegal it adds risk to selling and consumption and therefore price - since you have no system of control (FDA) dealers are forced defend and profiteer at will which leads to possession of guns and much of the violence associated with drugs.

Wow, so epic it had its own operation code name.

And I agree, why are you guys defending them? The kids were idiots, they broke the law, and it was more than just a little pick-me-up they had stashed. Plus those drugs have serious health risks, my cousin took quite a bit and now he`s seriously screwed up in the head when before he was a model student.

I`m not a drug user and never have been but LOL at some of the ignorant comments posted.

You guys defending them are morons. It wasn`t just for simple pot use, they got busted for DEALING pot, coke, x, and meth, and what looked like a hell of a lot of it too. Not only that, but it looks like the cops confiscated guns from them as well. These weren`t just simple drug users, there was potential for things to get more out of hand than they already were. I`d love to hear you guys when you catch your kids doing coke. I don`t care if people smoke pot, I know its not that bad, but dealing in such a large amount and with other harder drugs is just moronic.

Glad I`m not there and out of drugs weed =]

But in all seriousness, weed isn`t really bad at all for you, coke is over exaggerated in how good and bad it is, and xtc isn`t that bad but can cause later depression. Meth on the other hand...

Listen, some of us are too disillusioned with life and wrapped up in hating ourselves to get by without a little pick-me-up here and there. I feel bad for these kids, they`re not bad people, they just got caught up in a bad situation.

It sure sounds like to me that using weed and the other drugs has messed up the arrested students` lives. All of these drugs are bad. Using these drugs harms the mind, body, and other people. They put people at risk, like cigarettes w/ 2nd hand smoke and like alcohol does w/ drunk drivers. They are using up public money for law enforcement, rehabs, and medical bills. Which makes the cost of health insurance higher for the people who need it. The money that users pay with is going to horrible people. Some of whom support terrorist and slavery of women and children. People who are for using drugs are being very short sighted.

I don`t understand this. 1/100 people are in jail in this country, prisons cannot keep up with the load, and it keeps spiraling further out of control. Now they want to arrest college students for drug use?

When will we learn that throwing more money, more laws, more police, etc at a problem does not solve it? If we want to diminish drug use, we need to focus on prevention and education. That is the goal still... right?

Whoa, whoa, let me get this straight... college students use drugs? NO WAY... oh wait I`m in college and I see this crap every day. Now the meth is for sure bad - that stuff does mess people. Coke can easily get out of hand. But weed and x? hardly ruining anyone`s life.

college is as much about finding out about yourself and experimenting as it is about learning and getting a degree. How you experiment is up to you - no one will make you do anything.

this made me happy for a second but then i thought that they probably only got about 10% of the drug problem at that school if even that high a percent in that bust so the happiness went away.

if you need to get drunk or use any kind of drug to have a good time maybe you should think about whats wrong with your normal self that you need to modify your behavior or state of mind to have fun. if you drink or get high for any other reason you just have a problem and need help.

"Understand that people can/are/will mess themselves up?
I already know that.
I`m not going to be one who will do the same."

I`m not saying drugs are the best thing in the world, but the idiots that take it too far are the ones messing themselves up. Smoking a bowl every now and again isn`t going to ruin a life. But doing meth everyday will.

Seriously, marijuana?
Arrest?

Ruining so many future engineers, lawyers, doctors lives forever because they decided to celebrate after their finals?

this is drating stupid and just shows how drated up the system is.

I can guarantee you I`m celebrating thursday night after my last final. And I can guarantee you, it`ll be the GOOD stuff, if you know what i mean.

Oh, come on. Like college students ever use their funds wisely. I remember very clearly how cheesed off my parents were when I spent some of my loan money on a tattoo. Who doesn`t smoke pot in the dorms? I think if they are going to be this stringent, they should crack down a bit more on underage drinking, as well. Seriously.
