Nice try, but try again."
that may be true if its like in outer space or w.e but there r other factors thier not just orbiting by the force of gravity theres ur muscles moving them too DUMBASS

*** carolinads13 & Robock:

It IS possible. You just have to think in 3D. Read my previous step-by-step description.

If your fingers are crashing, you have to slow one down, so they aren`t completing the circuit at the same time. THAT is the hard part: Doing opposite circles out of sync.

Draw it out on paper: "training wheels"
Draw two overlapping circles and trace them onto the other side. Have someone hold the paper perpendicular to you. trace one circle on one side with your left finger and the opposite circle with the right finger. Practice making the circles until you find a rhythm where you no longer feel your fingers touch each other through the paper. Timing is critical. Remove the paper, move you hands closer together and VOILA!

It`s actually pretty simple after a few minutes of getting used to moving your fingers in the right direction.

If you look at your fingers at a horizontal angle it looks like your fingers are moving in the same place, but at an overview you can tell you are doing it correctly.

I can`t really do it when my fingers are together, since they keep hitting each other. But when they`re apart (maybe 10cm), it`s easy to do it if you go slowly at first.

Yea, that chick is dumb. I`ve been doing that trick (mind you, not orbiting each other, but separate) since I was 12.

Easy way to do it: Put your fingers together, and slowly rotate them in opposite directions. Let them meet at the top and continue. Meet at the bottom, and continue. After 6 years, I can do it without even thinking about it.

Lame.

Golkar is right, on my first try, my finger collided. but like the vid says, pull them apart and it is very easy to do it.

it is so easy i don`t see how someone would not be able to do it.

I can do it. Just position your fingers side to side, then start to move them back and forth, so they move towards you and away form you. Once you have that, start moving your hands up and down TOGETHER, towards your feet then towards your head. When you time it right (So your fingers cross paths when you are finished moving up or down) then you will have done the "trick."

Reply
Male 1,386
This is easy. Instead of thinking of circles, just think of it as moving your fingers up and down and forward and backwards at the same time. Also, bigger circles help.

It`s not a brain impossibility, it`s a right brain left brain connection "issue" with some people.

When the right and left brain and communicate *well*, this becomes a simple task. Just like making a 6 with your right foot and moving your right hand in a clockwise direction.

So, theoretically, if we didn`t have the split between right and left brains (the line down the middle that splits the brain into 2 frontal lobes), like I`ve heard Albert Einstein never had, we could do many things like this with no difficulty.

Until we learn how to perform that surgery on ourselves, we just have to teach right/left brain communication.

Ok, what you CAN do is move your fingers in opposite-going circles. A lot of people can do that. However, it`s impossible to have them orbit each other. They would crash. You have to do one inside the other, or have them separate... Unless you are unusually talented and can do an inside-outside-inside thing that I do not wish to demonstrate...

Male 285
I taught myself a few years ago how to do it by making HUGE circles with your hands. The same concept, except your arms are really going over your head and down to the floor. After doing that, my circle got smaller and smaller and now I do it perfectly :P

Male 358
hectizzle- More challenging then the side-by-side, but definitely possible.

How to do it:
Start by making your two opposite orbits side by side. Gradually move your hands apart by raising one hand and lowering the other. Master making the circles above each other rather than next to each other. Next, bring your orbits closer together so that the imaginary rings intersect. When the bottom finger reaches the top of it`s cycle, the top finger should be at the bottom of it`s cycle. The bottom finger should pass OVER the top finger at this point, then travel back down, (and, of course, the top finger passes BELOW the bottom finger, then travels back up).

By definition, the fingers have ORBITED each other in OPPOSITE directions.

{ BTW, I can do it sideways and behind my head *snicker* }

Male 268
this isnt impossible, i can do it, you have to start with one finger, and as soon as u get that, keep it going, but try not to pay attention to it, then focus on the other finger going the other waay....after u learn how to do it, it becomes fairly easy

Hehe, I taught myself how to do this years ago just to screw with people. You most likely won`t be able to do it on the first try, but it`s definitely doable with practice. The easiest way to learn is start by making a square instead of a circle. Move one hand towards you and the other away from you, then move both down then move the far hand towards you and the near hand away then slowly increase the speed and voila`

Because both of your fingers going the same way look like they`re making a ball but when you trying one going one and one the other you sort of lose the ball and makes it harder, if you can still imagine the ball it`s MUCH easier.

I called bull the second I saw it. I`ve heard this a few times, and have done it several. In fact, every time I`ve tried, including now.

As for two objects orbiting each other, it IS possible, but you REALLY have to stretch the definition. Two objects traveling in a synchronous opposite orbit around a point of space equidistant from the pair will technically be orbiting each other.

For those that disagree, imagine gravity pulling on two objects in space, set in a spinning motion. They both have centrifugal force pulling from the other object, but are always changing their projected path, as the opposite object is continually changing as well. So, neither would ever get a complete "orbit" if you need a full revolution, and one could also assume that both circle a shared point between the two; but we all know that space doesn`t have pull, correct?

I will now teach you how to do it, even when drunk. Place your fingers not on top of each other but side by side. Imagine there is a cylinder like a coffee can under the fingers with its axis horizontal and parallel to your body plane. Now SIMULTANEOUSLY move the fingers one going down the front, one going down the back of the cylinder/can. Your fingers should meet at the bottom and continue moving around: the "down the back" finger moving up the front and the "down the front" finger moving up the back. Piece of cake.

Again, not orbiting. Orbit would be the same as the Earth around the sun. I agree that two objects orbiting each other is impossible, however, not what we`re dealing with. It`s two fingers doing laps around nothing. If both fingers we`re trying to circle each other, then yeah, we`d break our fingers before it worked.

Golkar, you are full of crap. I`ve been able to do it since the 4th grade.

Of course, that`s because you`re misinformed. In order for there to be orbit, they have to travel around an object. Just making your fingers go in circles in different directions has nothing to do with orbit.

0
Reply
Male 391
To those who would disagree, what LOOKS to be an orbit of the two objects is not, observe their path instead of the objects themselves.
0
Reply
Male 391
This is NOT a trick. It`s a physical impossibility. Two objects traveling in opposite orbits CANNOT be orbiting each other, the closest thing that can happen is a collision between the two objects.
Nice try, but try again.
