Well, TeHrussian, if that was really a picture of your body, I don`t think society would consider you underweight. I have been underweight my whole life (hovering around 110lbs at 5`8"), so I limit my cardio, otherwise I get skeletal. I do strength training, but certainly not 2 hours a day. I have a 2 year old that keeps me busy, so I guess that makes up for the lost gym time. I wore my size 3 jeans through my whole pregnancy, even to the delivery room, despite getting desperate enough for weight gain to consume large amounts of fast food - that`s an example of the metabolism rate I was talking about.

TeHrussian, if you`re worried about being too thin then you should cut down on the cardio and focus more on the weight lifting. Also, as far as appropriate weight, it depends on more factors than just how tall you are. Things like body shape (are you broad shouldered) matter even more. Body fat is also the true testament to how healthy you are. You could be really thin (low weight) and still have a lot of body fat. As you said, BMI isn`t ideal because it`s not always accurate. A healthy body fat percentage for you would be in the 8-19% range. Target sells a pretty good body fat monitor for just under $40.

Yes, IslandLotus, I was fishing for compliments. I was bored :-P and it entertained me. Hehe. Anyway, I actually kinda wanted to know what`d be the cutoff for being too light at 6`0" by societal norms.

Btw, I wouldn`t rely on metabolism too much to keep the weight off (then again, mine is slow-ish). Gaining lean muscle through excercise is a sure way to burn more calories at all times. And of course ENDORPHINS - the natural high :-)

Its time for some freak to break this record with a nonsensical stunt to weigh 2000 lbs. I`d watch the news on that!

i kinda really a little bit absolutely sorta hate this announcer... what he said about the "waste of time, money, and human inginuity" robot bit was pretty stupid and i suppose the solar power bra could be useful for cell phones and such if it was made in a swimsuit type thing for when women go around with just that on so that they have the phone and radio or whatever they need with full power...

TeHrussian: "Just updated my profile pic to flaunt a little. ;)"

TeHrussian, congrats on the weight loss, but really, you sound like you are fishing for compliments. Let the obese guy have some glory for a while and cease being an attention hog.

"It`s pretty easy to lose weight though, I just spend two hours a day at the gym." *kisses muscles*

LOL. Thank goodness I have fast metabolism. Your easy way of losing weight would discourage me if I had to shed some pounds.

Anyway, I will see you on the San Diego beaches this summer! Woo hoo! My anorexia was so worth it! I am now going to go change my profile pic so you will recognize my hot body when you see me in La Jolla. ;)

To be honest, i don`t see how anyone could possibly let themselves become that size in the first place.
It`s rediculous how anyone can be so lazy and greedy to end up weighing that much.

At least he lost loads of it again.

Very nice inspirational story at the beginning, but the reporter is oddly cynical about the other stories. Bad day perhaps?

Hey am I like the only one who want`s to punch that horse face hooker in the gut?

I saw a woman at the Wal Mart with sores, weeping sores, on the backs of her arms as she drove around in her little cart buying more food to make her even more fat. I felt sorry for the cart.

That reminds me of this lady I saw at the pool last night. She didn`t even look like a human she just looked like a giant lump of lard. And she had these big cellulity rolls of fat where I didn`t even know you could get big cellulity rolls of fat. And for some reson she decided to go to a public swimming pool in a bikini. It was the scariest moment of my life...

Just updated my profile pic to flaunt a little. ;)

I checked the BMI`s by the way, it says I`m healthy/at desireable weight. But appearently I was already there at 187.

Thing about BMI`s is: it doesn`t take into account what kind of shape the person`s in. One of my friends is 5`10" and 195 lbs, but he`s in great shape and has a 6-pack that pops more than mine.

As for the guy in the story. Ew. I can`t understand how people allow themselves to get that way in the first place. Even with a chemical imbalance and a slow metabolism, if you have some self-control and discipline, you never have to get obese.

PS: Is 173 lbs too light for a 6` guy?

im 6`4" and 200 lbs, but ive got a slight gut and i got medium sized muscles too, so i would say that you are prooly fine, but look at a bmi graph, those are more accurate

Haha thanks, didn`t think I`d get a reply. It`s pretty easy to lose weight though. I just do 1.5 hours of weights and .5-1 hours of cardio every day. That and I cut calorie intake to 16-1800 per day.

Beach season in San Diego. Woo hoo! Every drop of sweat is worth it.

PS: Is 173 lbs too light for a 6` guy?

The anchor was probably the most interesting thing about that - he had a fairly entertaining sort of dry wit/sacrasm/arrogance that comes across as fairly entertaining to listen to.

discovery channel did a special on him... interesting stuff i thought... they used those electro muscle stimulators to help make his muscles contract and he would do things like turn on the music and move around trying to dance and just try and keep his muscles stimulated. They also balanced out his food intake. he still eats a good bit every day but what it is is more nutritionally rich and balanced. just goes to show that if people could learn to eat healthy it would do so much good. oh, did i mention he has a girl friend?
