Really, really sick. But what`s amazing is how little effect public opinion is having on Yale over this. The woman`s nuts, this is well beyond anything Paris Hilton has done, and yet no one official, it seems, is condemning her and making sure she realizes that she has crossed a line.

Right before i start my comment: I KNOW THAT IT WAS FAKE, O.K.?

Ok, down to business. Some of you say that we pro-lifers and Christians should shut up about it if it were real because it is her body. The whole point of pro-life is that we believe the foetus is a single human life with its own rights - not just part of the mother`s body. So that argument isn`t going to work I`m afraid.

I love the way that in this country (UK) we give free dental care etc to pregnant women to make sure the foetus is not harmed and we treat the unborn child as a very precious thing, but if the "mother" decides she doesn`t want it she can just be rid of it - not so precious anymore. The validity of the child`s life seems to be based entirely on whether the mother wants it or not. How does that work???

IT`S FAKE! And yet so many of you didn`t read the full article.

Anyway, I wouldn`t call it art - but it *is* interesting. I give her that.

Doesn`t suprise me that it came from an ivy league student...some of those people are weirdos. You have to be sick to even think of doing something like that, real or fake.

Hmm...Notice how the school thought if it was real then it would have been an ethical issue. Wow I mean I thought taking a human life was murder and all. Yay, now I can kill and only get banned from my social club!

1. Im glad to hear its not real. That would have pissed me off even more.
2. Art is not this. FINE art, what she is claiming this to be filed under, is something that is creative, painting, pottery, writing, hell even some forms of architecture. THIS, non-sensical peice of crap is nothing but a sham, a ruse and frankly, a flat out lie. I do not appreciate liars, in fact, I hate them with a purple fuzzy passion.

Anyone who says that CREATING A FALSIFIED STORY is art is completely out of their everloving mind.

The article says it`s fake. She said it didn`t really happen. Who would be gullible enough to believe that? Of course, she denied it really happened. If she admitted to it, she would be in a world of sh*t.

deathbringer...i know...normally showing footage of a girl being raped or telling people you raped a girl, took pictures, then put them on display along with the saved condom would make alot of people mad and be seen as disgusting...

but its all good cause i say its art

next i`ll drown a dog and claim its a patriotic symbol of my stance against waterboarding

I`m surprised that this hasn`t been done already.

I don`t think murder is in any way art yet I don`t support chastising her for it. It`s her choice after all..

For the record, I`m prochoice. I don`t think abortions are murders despite my choice of words above.

one thing i notice is...these "art" pieces don`t require any real talent

these aren`t paintings or pictures that require years of study or practice...these are just asshat shockers who say vague phrases about why it is art.

here is what she says...the piece is "a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman`s body"

well i`m going to go make a piece about a little girl being raped...because it is "a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding lust and freedom of a young girl`s body"

slapping ur name on a turd and calling it art doesn`t mean its not sh*t

Ok... for me its just more proof that the term art is losing its meaning... I mean, thanks to whoever posted the Guillermo thing, I`m going back to the classics, the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods when i`m looking at art.
F*ck modern art...

Yea uh... I don`t think most of you complaining read the whole thing... which annoys me. As several people stated, it`s FICTIONAL. She didn`t really do that to herself. She`d be nuts if she did since miscarriages can REALLY harm your insides.

Um...What is church/parents have nothing to do with being against abortion? There is such a thing called `personal conviction`, you know. Maybe you should look into not being so ignorant.

"Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns."

Yea, it`s a little too late to worry about that. People these days give little important to such things as morals, values, and self-honor.

And yea, anyways, this isn`t art, it`s stupidity.

Art is being used as an excuse to make anything "OK" (Yeah I read the article). But still does not qualify as art in my opinion

Kinda interesting. Art with the human body is always controversial... although I dont know why people are so upset about what someone does to their own body.
And the starving dog, I think it said he was sick and wouldnt/couldnt eat... still f-cking horrific.

Also, thx for fubar note.

the idea behind it is enough for me to say this isnt any form of art,its simply disturbing and she should be jailed or sent into therapy or maybe just simply shot and disposed of for even staging such a apalling act in the name of "art",regardless if fake or not, this is not art.

This isn`t sick. You may think it`s "wrong" or "sick" because of how you were raised, but that DOES NOT make it wrong or sick.

A piece of art REPRESENTING miscarriage ans abortion, fine. It has a meaning, if it turns a few heads, makes a few people ill, all the better. Point made.

Now, I know this isn`t, but repeatedly taking advantage of a process many people strive for, abusing legal abortion and feeding pro-lifers is NOT cool. Atall...

And I saw FUBAR mentioned somewhere, thought I`d set this straight so it doesn`t get used in the wrong context (Pet peeve):
F - F*cked
U - Up
B - Beyond
A - All
R - Recognition/Repair

Medik, save that .22 for your own forehead, sweetheart.

Thank Blog for updates.

If the art isn`t offending someone, it`s not art. Get your panties out of your ass crack and reread the article. If we didn`t have art and literature to make us face the harsh realities of life, we`d all have our ears plugged and our heads in the sand screaming "LALALALALA"

I suppose part of art is making people face up to reality and life around them, but there should be limits, this could actually cause someone psychological trauma. Much as I respect art and artists, they shouldn`t be allowed to do things that could potentially damage the audience

You disgusted people do realize that she faked the whole thing, right? It`s an art project at Yale. Had she actually done this, it would`ve prompted a severe psyche test and probably a few trips to the hospital. It says right in the article that she faked the whole thing! It`s a work of fiction. A strange one, but very creative nonetheless.

At least she didn`t really do it, that would have been messed up. I`m really not a fan of this whole modern art thing- sticking a baked bean on a piece of paper and selling it for millions...wtf? However, I think what she had was an interesting idea, but it should have stayed that, just an idea, even though it isn`t real it`s still imitating a harsh reality, and a lot of people are going to have issues with her. I see a new Tracey Emery in the making unfortunately :-(

From what I`m reading it looks like it`s just an art project and didn`t actually get inseminated and have miscarriages. If so, that`s fine, freedom of expression and whatnot. If she actually did that, that is so wrong on so many different levels. My girlfriend had a miscarriage once, and my mom many times. It F Ucks you up emotionally.

like the guy who took a stray dog and tied it to the wall of an art gallery and called it art about the misery of a dog. he starved it to death and it died after the gallery thing. not only that, but he`s been invited to go and do it again! it`s outrageous!

subzeroblue - 100%. Those women who cannot have children, who try for years and years to have a child... and this woman gets pregnant, and kills the feotus and wipes it on plastic and sticks it on a cube.
It`s... horrible. Yes I agree that it`s her own body... but still.

I jsut think this is a slut hiding behind the name of art. How many times did she get pregnant?

yes, I see that it`s not real. But as many of the comments have been made on the assumption that it is real - I would suggest to KixStar that there is a huge difference between a woman choosing to have an abortion out of necessity and a woman deliberately and repeatedly getting pregnant purely for the purpose of killing the fetuses.

Daniellee: The difference between Guillermo and this young lady is that people had the chance to rescue the dog, to ignore the authority image, the "rules", the "law", and rescue the suffering animal...and they did not.

As of now I`m probably ripping open the can further, and causing more chance for debate and senseless bickering and name calling, but hell, as much as I hate some of the comments people spew (ESPECIALLY on the internet), I`d hate it even more if you weren`t able to regurgitate it.

And the guy with the starving dog.. If I would have been there, I`d have punched him and tried my damn best to free the poor dog. I swear, I`d love for someone to tie him up and then all of us IAB`ers watch him starve to death. We`ll make sure we all eat in front of him too.

its not real...

Statement by Helaine S. Klasky — Yale University, Spokesperson

New Haven, Conn. — April 17, 2008

Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art. Her art project includes visual representations, a press release and other narrative materials. She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages. The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.

She is an artist and has the right to express herself through performance art.

Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.

I, personally don`t care about the probably few day old embryos that she wasted. Oh well. Even though I wish she wouldn`t have done that because it will rally pro-lifers and piss me off. Also, won`t having that many miscarriages hurt her reproductive health?
