Hmm.. I`m not sure what this is but I suppose I should point out one thing.

The orange lederhoosen things are from a Dutch beer company called Bavaria. They are orange because this is the national colour of the Netherlands (with football etc.) and have that tail because the national symbol is the lion. There`s always orange/lion related varia turning up at some point during football games etc. Usually as extra`s with beer.

I think I can safely conclude that those things came free with a the beer at one point o.o;.

Why they are included in this however.... I have no clue.

Anywho, that was a funny video. XD I think it might be on of those commercials that exaggerate or something, because what kind of board game tells you to set someone else on fire? lol Someone should submit this to snopes.com . i would, but i dont want to make an account there.

Everyone moaning about mistaking mandarin for Japanese:

Believe it or not, many Europeans/Americans don`t have an extensive knowledge of Asian languages. The only way you would be able to tell one from the other is if you know one (or both) of the languages, or if both languages were used together - you could hear an obvious difference in the languages.

However, there was only one language in the advert, and we were told it was Japanese. Having heard very little Chinese in my lifetime, I assumed it was Japanese. In the same way, if you made a Chinese person listen to French, and told them it was German, they would think it was German, because they would not have come across French before.

So stop getting into a hissy-fit over a misunderstanding. You can`t expect us to know the difference between languages we have rarely heard before.

I assumed it was japanese too because I wasn`t listening to the language at all. I was concentrating on the fsked up boardgame!

Why were the lederhose bright orange with tails and the words Bavaria? on them. Do the Chinese think that German people are brightly coloured devil men?

Who ever writes the headlines for the links must be like 12 or just an ignorant assclown. Seriously. Parkour /= Martial arts, Japanese /= Chinese just for two quick examples.

I`m pointing out *why* people mistake canadians from americans based on their language.

Now I`m saying that is different from mistaking chinese from japanese.

It is obvious... except that you didn`t seem to get it, and still don`t.

I suspect it`s something akin to a victory sign she`s throwing up, since she just narrowly escaped a horrifying death... and beat her whole family in a board game. A peace sign would seem out of context.

Anyway, the vid was hilarous. Clearly its a joke. Still funny if you pretend its not.

I will, however, have to get on Fancylad`s engrish:

I only watched it once, with no sound (I`m at the office). I can`t tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese characters. But if you paid attention, you would have seen the website reference at the end (www.wangmingco.cn) which clearly indicates a Chinese website. Not too difficult to figure it isn`t Japanese. Still, I`m not going to get on Fancylad`s case about it - at least he`s posting stuff for the rest of us losers to look at. If you think you can do better, offer to take over for Fancylad, I`m sure he`s tired of this poo.

Acctually 843, french and english are similar (to a certain degree). There are plenty of words that have shared meaning in both languages and many words have similar pronunciation and spelling.

Making the assumption that Japanese and Mandarin are similar is like saying French and English are similar.

I cannot make out exactly what they are saying, but the language should be either Mandarin or Cantonese, (Chinnese has many dialects) but I am going with Mandarin. Oh, and the game is a fake, parody TV. I would say this came from Taiwain, who have a better sense of humour than its chinnese counterpart besides the chinese are only allowed 1 child per family, and in this CM, the family has 2 children.

I`d love to know how to tell the difference between the Chinese and Japanese languages. Maybe if I listened to each of them separately for long periods of time, I`d get it. But as it is, I`m sorry, I just can`t tell the difference. Wish I could.

wyngnkob:

Really!?!?! Canadians and Americans both speak ENGLISH?!?! Thank you for your brilliant observations Mr. Obvious.

The point I was trying to make was that, even though similar, I have seen many Canadians throw hissy fits when they`ve been mistaken for Americans. An honest error being overblown into "insult" (or whatever).

Similarly, for those who are unfamiliar with the individual languages that occur in the continent of Asia, it is an honest and frequent mistake to confuse Korean with Chinese with Vietnamese with Japanese, etc.

To ignore this as an honest and understandable mistake shows a disturbing lack of insight and tolerance.

Why be intolerant?

Canadians and Americans both speak ENGLISH with *very similar* accents. Unless of course it`s Southpark, then Canadians and Americans are pretty obviously different.

Chinese and Japanese are completely different languages. It is *not* all asian nor the issue of the poster not being an asian language major fair. And to simply tag it as *asian* and leave it as that is just assuming U.S. labels.

To the Chinese out there it comes as extremely insulting; vice versa for the Japanese.

There`s an easy way to tell if the language is Chinese (Mandarin to be exact) or Japanese: Chinese is spoken with intonation, while Japanese is not. I don`t know how well can westerners perceive this, but you can tell they sound a lot different.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGG!

It was labled as a Japanese show when I found the damn link. It`s not like I acctually knew. My knowledge of all asian languages is limited.

Ass for being a a know-it-all asshat "apophisjon", yes I can tell the diffrence between german and french. When you can tell the diffrence between everyknown language in the world, I`ll listen to your rampant fartings!

Male 2,372
In all fairness, it`s easy for those who`s primary language is English to, at times, miss out on the distinction between Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.

...Just like many Canadians are mistaken for Americans when they travel abroad....it`s because they look and sound similar to those who do not live in Canada or America.
