The government and church need to mind their own business... stop protecting the people that don`t want to be protected.
Ohhhhhh, how much I hate this argument... That there was someone to ask, aha. And that someone would agree :-)
IMHO, the very idea of regulating suicide (euthanasia) in legislative way is not effective. As anything that concerns moral values and beliefs, arranging one`s or one intimate`s death should be a matter of personal choice. However, legilizing (and promoting) an opportunity of suicide for all, like in Futurama, wouldn`t be much fun: just remember how often you hated life around you (even if the reasons were ridiculous and the moments of despair were short). What, allowing isn`t pushing? Ha.*Although I`m pretty sure a normal society won`t come to suicide booths... well, it actually will, but it will understand its mistake soon :-)*
Oh, and the guy has just no scientific thinking. Hasn`t he been told that a human house is full of lethal objects? He must live in heaven.
If a person is going to die a terrible death from a terminal illness why not let them have the choice ahead of time instead of having to suffer for however much longer??
but seriosly, it`s quite the machine that should be availible to anyone who is terminally ill and hates it.
Correct. But you CAN go to jail for helping someone commit suicide. Or, if you fail to kill yourself.
And, to the people who say Christians wouldn`t let people suffer - they believe only God has the right to take away a life. Therefore, God is making them suffer as a `test`.
As for the machine... it doesn`t cover any loopholes. A doctor is made to take an oath when they qualify, which states that they must always aim to save the life of a patient. Sitting back and watching someone use the machine would break that oath. I`m not sure if it`s the same in Germany, but I assume it is. So this video fails miserably.
Not at all, there are many accounts of the head surviving up to five seconds after decapitation.
If you want to die, blow your brains out. Or jump off a hotel building. Or the old fashioned Guillotine, which is supposedly painless.
Btw, does anyone know what Kevorkian used in his little instrument thingy?
the accent was pathetic an I actually feel embarrassed(as I always am when germans speak english like that). It`s not like he couldn`t have a better pronunciation, he`s just too lazy.
actual topic: I think it`s a good thing they hopefully found a grey zone for active euthanasia. it solves a lot of legal problems if this was the one and only legal way of helping others to end their lives.
*for those of you who have NO idea what im talking about..which there MIGHT be a few...futurama has suicide booths for people out on the streets*
WEEOOWEEOO SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE BREACHED
if your terminally ill, i dont see the problem with ending your life. its the ultimate act of love you can show to someone in my eyes. save them from suffering for nothing and all that. if there was a chance you would recover, then thats a different matter. and thats the reason its illegal, cuz there would be no way of regulating it, and unfortunately some doctors would go bumping off anyone and everyone to save on expensive drugs, treatments and to basically free up beds. a sad world we live in where a hospital bed is worth more than a life.
i`m drating scared of needles.
"You are now dead. Thank you for using Stop`n`Drop, America`s favorite suicide booth since 2008"-from the first episode of futurama
coincidence?yes. but its still pretty funny
And pyrochem, he came up with this before he was part of the government, *I think*. I`m not sure, and don`t feel like looking that up, but I`m fairly positive that`s what happened.
im just waiting for it to pop up on ebay. so awesome.
Anyway anybody who is suffering so much they want to take thier own life, and theres no cure they should have the right too.
