Kid uses the IP Relay (a calling service deaf people) for a little Stairway accompaniment. I like it better than Plant.

Being a relay operator sucks.

My sister was one and she would get some prank calls that were so bad that it would actually reduce her to tears.

Imagine a person typing threatening or sexual comments and the relay person has to tell them to a five year old.
Thats why I hate prank callers who use this.

This guy was cool though, it didn`t harm anybody.

@ litelbrown:

"its not an actual person people. Its a computer."

Um, no, it is a real person. They are real operators who do that.

Robert Plant doesn`t want to do a tour, but Page, Bonham and Jones all do.

I think we found a replacement!

I really feel sorry for relay operators. Relay operators read what is written by a deaf person verbatim the other person on the line. It doesn`t matter how stupid or obscene it is. If the conversation turns threatening or illegal, they can transfer the chat to someone else (usually a supervisor) and log the call as such.

@HankMagoo... The government spends very little on these programs. The phone companies charge the bulk of it. It`s usually based on a per-call charge. We used to have to deal with this all the time. Calls from deaf students of my wife would cost them between $1.50 and $2.00 per minute, depending on the phone company.
Luckily, these days a cell phone with a text package are easily affordable for most, so relay chat has gone to the wayside.

Meh. The lyrics were too out-of-sync with the guitar.

My friend and I use IP relay to make fake drug deals. Or to prank call people. Its almost as terrible as calling someone collect at 1AM.

grerex1: are you just being dumb? if not, and i dont know much about it, but i think that the deaf person would do the typing and the non-deaf person would use a phone... and the non-deaf person would have the operator type what he/she says... am i right? i really dont know but i think thats it

Chiefy, I`ll explain it to you. It`s a simple two-step process: (1) The U.S. Government uses tax dollars it collects from money that you and I work hard for to create a benefit to help handicapped people. (2) Some stupid douchebag with an accoustic guitar, the kind of dork that ruins good keg parties, abuses it and thinks he`s cute or funny or something.

I dont quite get it. Anyone tell me what IP is? I understand its for deaf people but how does it work?

That was funny...However it pisses me off when idiots abuse that system. It`s for the hearing impaired. Not for morons that can`t even play the guitar very well. Hearing is wasted on some people

That`s so weird. I wonder what the operators thought.

Would make a neat recording.

IP relay is an online service of which you tell them a phone number to call, and then you can tell them what to say to them as they type back what the person`s response is. It`s for deaf people that can`t hear the responses themselves to use.
