millions of dollars of research for this pile of crap?

what`s the point?

and for the time it took to repair itself, it would probably be easier to make another chair.
Or fix a chair yourself.

who would want an auto-repair chair in their household?

I read about this in a magazine that for some reason came in my mail, Border Crossing.

The chait while in exposition is the middle of a white room, and just plops whenever.

I wouldn`t be surprised if they would market this. I mean, they do sell flashlights that recharge on solar power. It`s absolutely true, I`ve seen them on a store shelves.
Oh, I`ve seen that on the Discovery Channel. They probably posted that first on their Daily Planet. And I could use that on someone I can`t stand to see!

This would fail on carpet.

I agree, this is a nice advance towards having robots that can repair themselves, but I can`t think of an everyday use for this robot chair other than just easy storage. Even then, it needs to work faster. That was rather slow. =/

If one of the legs break in half, it will not repair itself. It`s made to break in certain spots.

The point is that we now have technology that can potentially repair itself, which is HUGE. It would mean higher efficiency, and this would be a pretty big deal in the world of robotics (building a robot that serves a function, and if a part of the robot is disconnected, it has the ability to fix itself).

but i think we can do better

How about instead of spending years and thousands (Or millions?) of dollars making a useless self-assembling pile of crap, they just make me a tank?

I want the button to that chair to break it...just have someone sit on it then bam!

that was stupid.

its easier and cheaper to make a break-proof chair.

but the real question is, will it blend? THEN lets see it put itself back together!

Alright, the idea behind the technology is pretty impressive, and the uses are vast. However, what the hell? A chair? Chairs are meant for sitting! If a chair is made that can`t be used, then it`s not really a chair, it`s a chair-like object.
"Hey, mind if I sit on your fancy chair?"
"Oh no. That`s not a chair, it just LOOKS like a chair."
"Can I sit on it though?"
"No. Dumbass."

Boy, I sure am glad that company didn`t spend all those millions of dollars on something useless like a cure for cancer! Now we have a wonderful chair for fat drats with poor carpentry skills like myself! FANTASTIC!!!

lol so many would be broken because of people trying to ride it while it fixes itself

dumbest invention ever. Wouldn`t it have been easier if someone just put it together? Or built a stronger chair?

hmm...pretty cool. but how would it be useful in any way? if you sat on it, it would just break and then fix itself again. i guess u can use it for entertainment...although after watching put it self back together once...it will get boring.

i think it would be fun to keep moving around the peices so it takes even longer to find it.or when its rising back up, just push it down again and see the thing fall apart and then finding its parts...then hide the parts and repeat the process.

but still, pointless...whats next? self healing dog? throw the dog at the wall and then watch it put itself back together and then when its fixed, toss it some more...

jeez im done...piontless...entertaining...but pointless.

As stupid a purpose as it is, it does wonders for raw science. Thinks of how such technology could be applied to more important things.

Well, one thing I can envision this technology in the future doing is self installing furniture. This way you don`t have to deal with all that poo of putting it together. =D
It all starts with a chair.

WHAT IS THE POINT?

Really, do I need a chair that will surely break, even if it can fix itself? What a dumb idea!

costs a mil to make and has no purpose, let me at it with my baton and if it heals after that then its worth it.

So let me get this straight, it`s a chair that can break itself for the soul purpose of unbreaking itself. Wouldn`t it be easier to just not break in the first place?

wow, probably costed several 100k $ to develope and servs absolutely no purpose.

What good is a chair that cvan self heal only if it self broke before?

It is like, ohh, we have this uber cool sensor/space recognition technology that we cant think of a good aplication for... let`s make one up!

Male 108
.....it`s built to break...and has some sensors that let it put itself back together but only if all variables are met properly, in other words, it`s like purposely breaking your finger in an extremely specific way, just to show off to your friends that you can put it back together....
yes, i`m bad with analogies hehehe

well, if someone was sitting in it when it broke,
wouldn`t the little robot box get pwn`d by their butt?

We`ll need this in a few years at fast food places. Fatty sits down and breaks the chair...and it repairs itself!
