A nerve-rattling compilation of airplanes flying over this guy"s small Hong Kong neighborhood. Property value must suck.

The thing that surprised me was not how many there were, but how low they were flying

Way back in 1994, my family and I flew to Hong Kong before the had the new airport. Landing the plane meant flying around high rises and rolling the plane side to side. I saw old ladies drying their clothes while we were landing!

I feel for him.. I`ve lived and worked in an area right off the runway of Love Field in Dallas, TX. The airplanes were so low, I could read the numbers on them. 5 years of that... I`ve since moved.

I love it how the people on the street are "tone deaf" to the planes and just keep on with what they`re doing.

Hong Kong`s old airport Kai Tak was once considered one of the most difficult airports to land in because the planes had to be low enough to hit the tarmac, but high enough to clear the condominiums.

Ooooh that`s where I lived!
This video is at least 10 years old because that was when the old airport was still nearby =)
People complained about the noise all the time.
Then they built a bigger airport somewhere far away and took down the old one.
Now the noise is gone...and so are the tourists. Lol.

haha. Thats what happens when you have no room for airports. I bet the people are used to it. Btw, Hong Kong has a bigger airport elsewhere.

Chiefy - I used to live there - on that very Flight Path - straight into 180 runway at the old Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong. Fantastic times there - spend an evening just watching the planes fly through every 10 minutes. Never had an issue with the noise and always enjoyed waving insanely at the passing planes. Great thing was flying home and seeing my parents waving at me on the plane - always made me laugh! I miss that so much!! Shame we had to leave Hong Kong! :(

Well, that would suck, but fortunately that airport no longer exists. Coming from someone that has actualy lived there, its really not that bad. The newer airport is one of the biggest in the world and, for a change, on a much more spacious island.

Fun fact of the day: that airport in the video has now been converted into a go-cart track with a really B.A. course.

Well, they can`t complain. I mean, if you don`t like the noise, don`t move into the neighborhood.

good for you ace...but given the current rate of people popping out people, that will happen sooner then you imagine, you know people need space to live.

anywho, that would suck, the noise. In a town called shiphol here in holland, people complain about noises all the time, but the airport is exspaning and really, they have no choice..either no tourist and explore, exchange and no money and wellfair or silence..

IN AMERICA THEY WOULD SUE BECAUSE OF THE NOISE AND POLLUTION. IT JUST WOULD NOT HAPPEN HERE.

This looks familiar somehow. Ah well, interesting nonetheless.

I`d hate to have that sort of air traffic, but if you`re in Hong Kong your property value is probably through the roof even *with* all those planes.

I have airplanes flying over my house (not that close, but still) and they aren`t that bad after a while.

Though I remember going away to my grandmother`s for two months and came back, and I couldn`t sleep for a week.

"Property value must suck".

Acctually, no! Space is tight in Hong Kong so even that neighborhood will still have buyers!
