If the guy in the video wasn`t so shook up, it would bring to mind hilarious images of a delivery boy pulling a sawed-off shotgun out of the pizza box.

A few years ago in NY, people were robbing delivery drivers all the time, and YES, many were killed for no reason, other than perhaps the fact that they could identify the attackers. When someone pulls a gun on you, if your first response is "That gun is here for some purpose _other than_ to fire a chunk of lead at high speed through my body" then you are an IDIOT. The police don`t go into potentially dangerous situations without at least two people, weapons, and radio backup. Delivery men go into these situations dozens of times a day with just a stupid hat. Thank God this guy is alive. If I were him, I wouldn`t worry about the job that much, he`s better off without it. I just hope his replacement doesn`t get murdered for following "company policy". (I guess IAB was right, I DID get mad at this one, but mainly over the discussion, not the story.)

Well he should`ve been willing to lay down his life in the name of Pizza Hut. He deserves to be fired and jailed for that. How dare he try to defend himself? Stupid bastard.

as far as gun laws go, I`m gonna have to quote charlton heston here and say they can, "pry my gun from my cold dead hands"

firing him over violating that policy is perfectly justified. typically, carrying a gun like that just increases risks for yourself. He should`ve just coughed up whatever money he had and ran. The fact that he had a gun put him in more danger, and his employer can`t support that.

He still had teh right to carry one. I suppose pizza hut needs to revise its policy, considering one of their employees nearly died.

"Er...could someone say what happened?My computer doesn`t have sound.^^;"

A young woman ordered a pizza. Her fiance waited for the pizza delivery guy in the lobby of their apartment building. When the delivery guy arrived, the fiance pulled a gun on him. The delivery guy pulled his own gun and shot the fiance several times. The fiance somehow survived. The police ruled the shooting justified self-defense. Pizza Hut suspended (and later fired) the delivery guy for violating corporate policy. The delivery guy was so shaken by the shooting incident that he couldn`t talk to the reporter.

The Second Ammendment only guarantees the right to own a firearm, not to carry one. The right to carry is for the states to decide individually.

Okay, ive never been held at gunpoint, but I think the guy was taking the whole "feeel baaddd for meeeeee" thing a bit too far. I mean... he didn`t get hurt did he? he didnt watch a loved one die, he didn`t have to kill his own dog because it was infected with the virus.
so wake up and get a real job. he kinda looked like he was around forty too...

There is a such thing as a 2nd Amendment, the right to bear arms. As far as I`m concerned the guy had the right to be carrying the gun and to use to in self defense.

Oh, and what about the Supremacy Clause? "The Supremacy Clause establishes the Constitution, Federal Statutes, and U.S. treaties as "the supreme law of the land." The Constitution is the highest form of law in the American legal system. State judges are required to uphold it, even if state laws or constitutions conflict with it."

Does that still apply with Corporate policies?

I`ve just had a proper read through this forum, it`s fantastic!
My favourite is Peanut X. He/she replied to a message from The Maddog (who states that he is from the UK, like myself) and claimed that the Brits killed 6 million Jews. I must have missed that part in history.

What strikes me is that the majority of people who feel sorry for the pizza gut are from the US where it is common to own a gun. The majority of people against old pizza boy are from Countries that have stricter gun laws. This suggests that growing up in a cetain culture influences opinion. Does this mean there is no individual and unbiased thought, just a tendancy to so with what you know?

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering why a delivery guy was carrying a gun? Not only should this prick be fired from his job, he should get locked up as well. And before all you Americans start harping on about how he would have been killed if he didn`t have a gun himself, don`t you think that lax gun laws in the US are causing situations like this? So you have the `freedom` to buy a gun, it also means you have the freedom to kill each other. Still, the plus side is that it does strengthen the gene pool.

"Maybe it`s just me, but it seemed like he was milking the attention a little. It`s not like the guy shot at HIM. Plenty of people have been robbed at gunpoint and not "needed time off.""

Maybe the guy has never shot someone multiple times before. Killing somebody in self defense still feels like murder to non-sociopaths, retard.

He is a hero!

The kid tried to kill him. Doesn`t matter if its a kid, a 40 year old moron, or a grandma, they have a dangerous weapon and are opening fire.

The person who fired him deserves to be hung, then slowly tortured. The delivery guy deserves a permit to carry a bazooka.

He`s probably upset about shooting a kid. It was justified. His actions saved his life. But it doesn`t dawn on you until it`s over that you`ve just sevearly hurt a kid.

Making guns illegal does absolutely no good. I think England makes the case quite well.

kid looked like he was on drugs, and probably would have taken the money, go back upstairs to his girlfriend, and both would have been arrested by the cops, serve his time, get out, continue the cycle until he finally hurts somebody. So the guy, in a sense, stopped somebody else from being injured.

Firing the guy was a mistake. If they hadn`t, future robberies would be less likely because the perps wouldn`t know if the delivery guy was packing or not.

Also, the story said the mugger survived, so his sentence should include castration. That dirtbag should be denied the privilege of procreation.

I think anyone should be able to buy a gun. Felons, kids, mentally ill people, Dick Cheney, anybody. We should be allowed to carry them anywhere anytime, church, school, in police stations, court, on airplanes, presidential speeches. No permit required. You should be allowed to pull a gun on anyone anytime anywhere for any reason, even if they just annoy you on the bus by chewing gum too loudly. After all the second amendment guarantees our right to keep and bear arms.

Bullets on the other hand should be banned and carry a sentence of life in prison for possession.

To those who say that he would be dead if he didn`t had his gun go put your head inside your toilet, without flushing, and stay there for 2 or 3 hours... also, next time you shave, try standing 1 inch or two closer to the blade.

Seriously, just drop the money. You dont need a gun to defend yourself. Killing someone trying to steal your money wont make your life any better. It will just put doubt in others about how mentaly sane you are ( case in point ) and you just end up losing the money you would have lost anyway.

The NRA and anyone who think that owning a gun is the right thing to do are unfair, uncivil, unsafe, uncouth, unfunny, unfeeling, unbalanced, underhanded, unpardonable and unprofessional.

If that is their company policy than he violated it. Certainly it is good that he is alive, but he was justifiably suspended. I believe that delivery drivers ought to have some form of protection, (not a gun) but something. Who knows what could happen to any number of them going to all those homes of complete strangers sometimes in questionable neighborhoods.

It has nothing to do with freedom.

So you can buy ballistic missles? No. I guess you`re not free then?
So you can buy marajuana? Nope. You can in alot of freer countries.

And my personal favourite: You imprison over 2 million people. More than anyone else. That includes countries that roughly quadruple your population like China and India.

How free is a country with more of it`s population in cages than anywhere else?
from Straight Dope: Most countries, including almost all our industrialized peers, have imprisonment rates under 200 [per 100`000].
(The USA has 701 per 100`000, more than anyone else).

while you`re at it, look up free speech zones.

Seriously though, rules are rules, if you`re told you can`t carry a gun, that`s that. You`re not allowed to bring a gun in lots of places.

Maddog, the point is, it wouldn`t matter.

Whether or not guns are outlawed is irrelevant to the fact that people will get them illegally, possibly resulting in more shootings to not get in trouble for illegally owning a gun.

We don`t have mall and school shooting every other month. Statistically speaking you have a greater chance of being struck by lightening then being shot in school.

And this is a perfect example to why guns should remain legal. It`s not guns that kill people, it`s the individual wielding the gun.

And I`m pretty sure if you publicly threatened to assassinate the Prime Minister, or the queen herself, you would be spending a lengthy time in prison.

Those of you wondering why you would steal from the pizza delivery guy...It is because they are just walking around with a bag of money.
I deliver pizzas and some nights I have over $200 in my back pocket. If I delivered in a place that wasn`t in nice neighborhoods, I would carry a gun.
And most of the time, criminals use guns to intimidate their victims and don`t actually plan on using it because a homocide is much worse than a simple mugging. Having your own gun will more likely cut the chance of you getting robbed. And the reason it is still legal to conceal a weapon is to prevent crime and save the potential victim`s life because there can`t be police everywhere.

If it was company policy NOT to carry a gun then he`s in breach of his contract with his employer. No ifs or buts. What they dont tell you is, how would it look in court for pizza hut if they allowed him to keep his job but fired another employee for carring a gun? They would be screwed!

I do feel sorry for the guy, and I see it from his point of view as well, but rules are rules and Pizza Hut are going to protect themselves first, everyone else second, though I do think the guy needs some compensation here, as he was put in danger by the companys policys!

Just as well I despise guns, corperate companys and and the screwed up leagal system in western countries!

America will NEVER make guns illegal. Here we have a thing called "freedom" And besides, making guns illegal just takes guns away from those not interested in breaking the law.

SirKevin, the problem with gun control laws out here, is that it`s so easy to illegally buy guns. The Pizza Hut guy had one legally, and he was licensed to carry it. The guy that tried to mug him probably didn`t get his gun legally.

If we had tighter gun control laws right now, then a lot more people would get shot. I know that where I live, a neighboring city is thinking about getting rid of it`s police force entirely because they can`t afford it. In my city, the police take an hour and a half to get here, and I can walk to the station in fifteen minutes. I`m not allowed to own a gun as long as I live with my parents, since my step-father is a convicted felon, but once I`m out on my own, I might look into getting one.

We only hear a part of the story due to him being unable to talk about it. They may be really nice to him at work and are pulling everything they can to get him a green status. Then again, the other side can also be true.

But from what rumors I`ve heard of delivery personnel, and the risks they take GOING UP TO COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS HOMES, I`d say at least mace should be a requirement for self defense. I can see where a gun can tear the line.

Another concealed weapons permit holder to the rescue. I`m glad he shot the lowlife prick. Probably did a service to his community there. I hope Pizza Hut gives him his job back, although it didn`t look like he was that thrilled about going back.

So they fired him for for getting held up at gun point, and he saved his own life... Screw Pizza Hut! I bet Papa Johns will accept his application ;)

Maybe it`s just me, but it seemed like he was milking the attention a little. It`s not like the guy shot at HIM. Plenty of people have been robbed at gunpoint and not "needed time off."

That`s really sad. I hope he isn`t fired. He was only suspended, right?
