Link: Oasis` Noel Gallagher Bashes Jay-Z and Glastonbury - He`s not too keen on hip-hop in general, either. All this in response to Jay-Z headlining Glasto. Does he have a point?

I hate Noel! I live about 20 minutes from Glastonbury and I`m fed up of these rockers coming in. There`s no harm in Hip-Hop, until it get`s violent...

most people don`t even know what hip-hop is. It`s like rock, you have heavy metal, emo, pop, punk and yet it`s all rock. Jay-Z is considerably commercial. Try some De La Soul (old skool), Vikter Dupliax (broken beat), or old portis head (experimental)....it`s all hip-hop to me btu totally different things.

What a legend Noel. Glastonbury is not a hip-hop festival, so why try to make it one? Drawing younger audiences doesn`t mean drawing ten year olds that like crap music.

I cant stand Noel or Oasis so normally I wouldnt give a crap about what he has to say, but in this instance I have to say I know several people who have never missed Glastonbury so far, but this year 2 of them have opted not to go. I dont acctually know if it`s to do with Jay-Z or not, but I have to agree, it`s certainly a change from the standard line up and a lot of people might not like that.

Glasto is an arts festival, every type of music possible should be played there.

And what`s with all this `Rock or Hiphop` thing? can`t people like both? like me?

"Painter"- Oasis are not one hit wonders, infact they are a great band although some may dislike them immensely you have to say they can write music.

Yep. I had all intention of going this year but decided against it when I heard Jay-Z was headlining. That wasn`t a choice against the genre but against the artist himself. I`d have been there like a shot if it was someone who in my mind was worthwhile like public enemy etc.

Poor choice on the organisers part. Poor choice.

oasis trying to slam jay-z is like a candle saying the sun is just kinda warm.

oasis isnt on his level, never will be. I dont even like Jay-Z and this is blatantly obvious.

Realistically, he is trying to get some press. Easier to gripe in the media then to make a hit song.

A billionare music mogul vs a buncha wannabe beatles?

    Gimme a break.

Daegog, jay-z is just a popstar. And don`t call a band that has been around probably longer than Jay-Z, a bunch of wannabe beatles. Have you even heard Oasis?
All in all, i`m just sick and tired of hearing hip hop all over the place. I dont dislike the genre but i dont see why it has to monopolize every other kind of music out there nowadays...
That and music is getting commercial.
Although i would be really pissed if I were Noel and found out that Miley Cyrus was playing at Glasto. Now that would be terrifying!

Dude? Who said Oasis was a one hit wonder?

Just because they didn`t chart well in the US after their first TWO albums doesn`t make them one-hit wonders.

Its simple, there isn`t music more popular than hip-hop world wide. Rock sales are going down since it seems to have gotten away from the led zepplins and gone to emo/ high school rock. While it might hurt them now in the long run they will benefit from this.

    @ Daegog

Thanks for revealing to the world just how far the depths of stupidity can reach. Rap, hip hop, whatever you call it, it sucks pretty badly. It`s noise, with some incomprehensible talking mixed in.

"Gone are the days when a guy would turn up with a microphone and grab himself while wandering around mumbling."

Right next to that quote they have a picture of Jay-Z grabbing himself, and probably mumbling.

    Splendid.

To say Oasis is in the same league as bands like Hawkwind, Badfinger, Led Zepplin, Motorhead, The Stones(pre 1976) and the Beatles does such a disservice to British music. Before when Americans weren`t ripping off black musicians to sound good, they stole the British sound, all the way until...Oasis. By the way...Stevie Ray Vaughn is god,Jimi Hendrix is Jesus and Noel Gallagher couldn`t even wipe their flop sweat.

Oasis may have a few hits but alot of their songs are wimpy and Gallagher sounds like a Tosser. So forget him, Jay-Z makes good songs. This isn`t 50 Cent we are talking about here. Jay-Z is the Man and Oasis is a fruit band plain and simple.

hip hop/rap just doesnt fit the festival. its not that kind of place.
take for example when 50cent played Reading festival in 2004. he got bottled from the outset and only stayed and did 6songs so he could get payed. not really what festivals are about
