That was kind of nice to listen to. I can`t stand when people resort to trying their best to confuse everyone else when stating their theories, so they sound like they`re right. This was rolled out so simply that a first grader could understand it (Literally). Now I want to say on one hand, this is silly. Time is a "fourth dimension" because in a way it exists, but in all reality, it doesn`t really exist. It`s just a concept for something being different at different points. The same could be said for all of the just explained dimensions, but now they`re just silly and useless in our every-day lives. Pre string-theory proposals for fifth and on dimension are a lot more useful than current ones.

So if you could perceive all dimensions at once, and possibly alter even minor things, would that make you God? Perception and interaction on all dimensional levels would lead to time travel and access to every possible dimension and universe. Wow. Will String Theory prove the existence of a God or maybe gods - beings that exist on higher dimensions that we can`t observe? I think my ears are bleeding.

If there were a fourth spatial dimension, wouldn`t the tenth dimension actually be the eleventh? And who can tell how many spatial dimensions there are anyway? As the two-dimensional creature probably would never see a three-dimensional object, we could be poor three-dimensional creatures in a five-dimensional world.

The concept of time being the fourth is not the only view on dimensions. This is, however, a bit too theoretical for me, as it isn`t really provable (or disprovable).

But what the hell is the eighth dimension? Traveling between universes and all of their possibilities? Damn, navigating would be a bitch.

Soo... the eighth dimension would go into the concept of wormholes...?

So, theoretically speaking, there is in fact a universe out there where the Dragonball Z characters actually exist? AWESOMEEEEE!!

And one more thing. Since the dimensions seem to repeat themselves as lines-squares-cubes on top of each other continuously, what if it stretches forever both ways? What if, a point in our four dimensional world is in of itself a combinations of those dimensions, with it`s own little world, WHICH has it`s own points which are their little dimensions and so forth?

And what if it turns in on itself? If we were to keep going inward on these dimensions, passing through the third, second, and first of each group, only to reach ourselves once again?

And what is the mechanism that continuously pushes us FORWARD in the fourth dimension of time? Why not backwards? Or maybe it`s not moving, and our brains only perceive it as moving forward?

...I think I need to lay off the Jenkem.

WHAT IF, we kept soaring through the planes of reality, and kept going beyond the tenth dimension to one more level of existence. That final, all-encompassing construct that defines everything itself. What if we were to find that at the very center of existence was a video of Rick Astley rickrolling us?

WHAT IF THIS IS THE CENTER OF EXISTENCE!!!???

I`m dead serious, since ANYTHING is technically possible. What if it really was something this silly? I BET theres an existence somewhere out there where Rick Astley is the center of the universe...

Has anyone actually read the book Flatland that he kind of refers to in the beginning? Kind of interesting... it`s about someone from the 2nd dimension discovering the third dimension... very neat and considering how long ago it was written its kind of interesting. In the land of Flantland, whose inhabitants are basically just shapes, the warriors are lines, or sharp triangles, and the higher classes are multisided polygons, leading up to being practically circles. Of course, this means they can easily be stabbed by the "lower Class" lines and triangles... Anyway, it actually is a pretty cool book... forgot the name of the author.

I guess this means.. In some psiko way.. That EVERY SINGLE moment.. An new universe is made for every person, animal, thing on earth? A universe where I just hid the wrong button, or where I didn`t just erase some letters cuz I misspelled? Meanwhile there are millions of billions of universes with me "in center"? Ugh.. NOW my head hurts.. Really really interesting tho.. And I finally figured out how time could be an actual dimension (since it`s really just something we define) .. Very interesting.. Very interesting indeed..

Mathmatically, a point is just a point; it has a position, but no size. The dimension represents the amount of information that is needed to specify the position of a particular point. Moreover, the dimension only specifies the amount of information needed, and not the type of information. For example, a point in the two-dimensional plane that you probably worked with in math class can be equivalently specified by either x,y coordinates or polar r,theta coordinates (and indeed by an infinity of other methods that nobody ever uses).

To those second dimension individuals, folding their own reality which in our reality is a flat surface would seem mind numbingly impossible, so maybe the folding of our own 3rd dimension is just as simple. we just need to use 4th dimension reasoning, which we wont ever have because we are not capable of perceiving it.
And what if there are a bunch of 4th dimension beings exisiting all around us at this moment except in the next dimension, what if it goes on from there? perhaps the 10th dimension is where God resides?
All this kind of speculation makes me feel terrible.

yeah, i collapsed the indeterminate wave of probable futures this morning, by opening my eyes, i collapsed a few more in the picoseconds that followed. as i am animate, and like coffe, however, this breif synopsis does not take into effect tools, and inanimate objects like books. the fact is, we do this every waking and sleeping second, you could argue that perception plays an important part in all this, as we can reason a further series of dimensions, but not perceive, and as time is the fourth perceivable dimension, we actually live in the fourth, not third, second or first, so, actually, we are almost halfway there, although, we cannot perceive the choices we take outside of our present time-line, we can imagine them, so, you could also suggest that perception, and through that, imagination were on there, as also being facets of the fourth dimension, like colour and sound are parts of our third dimension.

Do we remember things by looking back on a cross-section of the fourth demention, or does it come to us in a flash? Do other demention-ers haver a hard time thinking about us? Do other demention-ers even exist, or is it just us over and over again? Or are the other dementions rather like what we imagine alien planets to be?

Freelop: This theory encompasses that as well since in other universes the laws of physics may differ from ours; if the strong nuclear force only were a bit weaker matter wouldn`t exist as we know it, if the gravity constant varied just slightly stars wouldn`t be able to form etcetera.

In math a point is a point it has no line or width. In real life, it is in the 2nd dimension. I can never understand how something can be 1D.

And this interesting, but completely theoretical and for the most part pointless. I know that there are times when they say there can be as high as 13 dimension but I dont know why. I honestly think we never need to go past the 5th.

I know the the 5th dimension as a tesser, a fold in time. A way to get from one point to another. Like the ant in the newspaper w/o wasting time

reminds me of the machine in Hitchhiker`s Guide to the Galaxy (the book) that shows you in comparisson to the rest of the universe. according to the book, if you see yourself for how small and insignificant you really are in this universe, you`ll go insane... imagine if there was a machine that would show you how insignificant you are in comparison to all 10 dimentions... THAT would make your head explode...

all joking aside, i think this just sparked a huge interest in this subject for me. thanks IAB!!!

There is a book written in like the 1800s taking place in the 2nd dimension. Very nice it was. The interesting thing, is that the only thing people from the 2nd dimension can see are lines, which makes sense. Its called Flatland, somethingsomethingsomething, heh

every time, you include a new factor, you get a new dimension. For example, imagining the tenth dimension, you could draw a line to a different possible set of universes where there is a different supreme god or something. Its all a matter of where you draw the line as to what you consider a dimension. It makes string theory tough to deal with, and as cool as the theory maybe--I am left wondering whether or not physicists are wasting their time on this.

The 10th dimension is no better than the 3rd. The 3rd is no better than the second. Why? Because we can only affect the one dimension we`re in. We can`t even see the second dimension. We can imagine it, but we can`t move through it likes we can the third. The tenth dimension can only move through the tenth dimension. You can only move in the dimension you occupy. We can`t move through the second, then tenth can`t mvoe through us. Omnipotent doesn`t mean at the highest dimension, it means residing in them all.

    I didn`t really get it.
But I was kind of only half listening.
I know it was already way to long, but it still explained things waaaay to fast for me. XD I have a one dimensional brain.

What I also don`t get (but I think I`m entirely wrong about this, or just getting confused.)why the 4th to 10th dimensions all had something to do with time. But (from what I could tell from his descriptions) the 1st to 3rd dimensions don`t have anything to do with time. I think.
And I don`t get how you can be in any of the dimensions (apart from 2nd and 3rd. How you can be in a dimension where you see everything as lines (1st Dimension) is confusing too)
and does the 10th dimension actually count as a dimension if it`s technically just a point. (even if it is a point that represents everything that has, will and might happen. XD)
So does that mean the 10th dimension is knowing everthing? Like what has, will and might happen in every universe that might has and will exsist ever.

P.S: Sorry for writing pooloads of crap that probably doesn`t make sense.
    and, just wondered:
Can you be in more then one dimension at once?
Like we`re in the 3rd dimension, but aren`t we also in the second and first because we can see things as shapes and lines?
and if you`re in the 10th dimension aren`t you in all of the dimensions below the 10th as well?
or does the 10th dimension count as all of the dimensions plus itself, So anything you can do in the dimensions below it you can also do in the 10th dimension?

(and sorry for rambling again. Shutting up now.)

Just see it this way, we are always in every dimention, but our minds can only understand and observe 4 of them, hight, lenght, width and time.

AKA, we are in the 3rd dimention, however we can still see the 1st and 2nd (a line and nintendo 8-bit) and feel time.

    Hope that helps <sniugnep>
