Actually it is a classic example. If a baby goat is stupid/careless enough to stray from the group, or get stuck on a ledge it can`t easily escape, it gets eaten, and therefore it doesn`t make it to adulthood and its genes aren`t carried on. Consider the eagles to be the chlorine of the goats` gene pool.
I want one of those birds to guard my house. Maybe then my neighbors` dogs will learn to stop crapping in our yard. :/
Americas Eagle is the Bald Eagle, now go back to school and learn how to hate yourself and life a bit more you insulting twat.
and it wasn`t sad it was AWESOMJE!!!!!!!!!!!!1
But sad. Very.
Whoever said it was an imaginative way for it to kill, thats how most eagles kill, a Golden Eagle -could- kill a roe deer, it wouldn`t though, as predators are lazy. So in order to make up for this, it carries a 50lb deer close to a cliff, or about 8 meters up, and drops it. Drops it till it dies. They also kill turtles that way, usually dropping their softer underside onto a large rock in order to smash the shell.
Gotta admit though, that was cool, far too cold in Scotland for (native) Golden Eagles, so I`ll settle with my Kestrel, Hawk and Snowy Owl 8P
And I`d like to know how they carried out the research about the brain shutting down- does anyone ask the goat?
And peeps, it`s not sad, it`s nature. What would be sad would be 3 eagle chicks starving to death in their nest.
Do you think it`s sad when you tuck into a Big Mac?
i think part of what makes it sad is that the goat didn`t get to be noble and defend himself. it was just, "hey man! whoops-"
That said, that is one AWESOME way to hunt.
As for the terminal velocity comment, I`ve never heard of that either and it doesn`t make any sense to me. I could see the brain shutting off because of panic, but not terminal velocity.OT: Cats have a higher survival rate the longer they fall DURING terminal velocity. It`s suspected that they have trouble stabalizing during acceleration but at terminal velocity when the acceleration is zero, they can easily control their position in the air.I wonder if it`s because they`re like "ZOMG I`m FALLING AND ITS GOING FASTER!" (aka, it`s a thing inside the cat`s head, which doesn`t necessarily have to be thought) or if it`s because the drag is irregular during acceleration and makes it difficult to stabalize o.O
Oh and SleepingSun, I`ve never heard of animals shutting down at terminal velocity. Tell me where is it you learned this bit of information?
i was just laughing the whole time it was falling:P
i dont care what you people say.that was hilarious.
Eagles are dicks.
I guess my Phirana link has a chance of being accepted!
Would it be any less sad watching an eagle starve to death on camera?
I think it`s pretty cool, it`s not like it`s a rare occurance.. this probably happens hundreds of times a day. Yay nature, but I cant help but think.. My girlfriend is about 4`11" 95 pounds, What if an eagle.. yeah..
but that was so badass
Birds of prey are frikkin amazing.
Alot of people are entertained by nature. Now go back to the hole you came from!
Ahem...anyways...it was sad...funny, so ya. 3? 2.5? 3.5?
That`s SOO sad! And I know I totally sound like a 13 year old American but... aww!!!!
