The coolest. However...

It shows a three-phase motorized air disconnect switcher attempting to open high voltage being supplied to a large three phase shunt line reactor.

Neeeeerrrrrdddddsssss!!!

I hate to think what would happen if you somehow got caught in that kind of electricity. I don`t think there would be anything left of you.

ok why does it arc up i was always taught that electricity take the path of least resistance, so the shortice parth possible though air would be a straight path.

"I always thought the phrase `photoshopped` meant edited with some software, to make it look better/more interesting/funny, not nessasaraly with photoshop itself."

This.

Like how `Tissues` are commonly called `Kleenex`.

Davric, eletricity often takes the path of least resistance, so I would guess unless your touching it, it would go for the metal around it.

We`ve made lightning for unnecessary purposes. Now all we need to do is give chipmunks AIDs and release them into the wild. And then all my dreams will have come true o:-)

Would you even have to touch it? Wouldn`t it arc to your body if you were anywhere close?

Well electricity needs about 6000volts just to be seen in our atmosphere. So I`m guessing 10,000 volts. But because you asked for power, 500,000W sounds like a good number.

Agree with lolcat.

"Looks Photoshopped, but I can assure you, it`s not."

Just made an incredibly stupid comment there. I was not aware that photoshop was being used for high level cgi and sound editing.

For the record folks, photoshop is when an image looks drag and dropped or touched up. Such as most images found in any tug magazine like playboy or maxim. So if we see a pin-up of some fly ass bird, or a shark eating a helicopter then you may cry photoshop within reason.

Okay, honestly, why do people use the term PHOTOshop when they`re talking about a video? On a related note, why do so many people see something like this and say "Oh that`s gotta be fake" ? Maybe it`s just something really cool and you`re not getting it. The latter isn`t really an issue here (I was actually thinking of eBaums), but it still applies to an extent.

This Happen in California, My old neighbor had a tape from a different angle. He showed me & my parents. That was way back, like `98. I wished I would have saw this when I still lived next to him.

actually the lethality of a shock depends on the wattage dissipated on your body, it`s not just certain 1 amp or miliamps.
Dry skin has a resistance about 10k ohm.
A 0.1-0.3 A current with about 1000-3000 V is usually lethal. Go read the wikipedia for it.

8 milliamps directly across the heart is the generally accepted kill current (as far as the medical field is concerned).

^ If you touch it, you die.

An arc hit the truck one of my neighbors was in when he was working on the lines(his job, he wasn`t just messing around), and he burned to death.

The gravel around where it happened turned to glass.
