I`m sure everyone can name a few. I don`t think mine are the WORST in the country, but they still shouldn`t be teaching.

He has a good point. In high school, I had maybe 2 or 3 good teachers, but I can think of a whole lot of horrible ones who almost made me want to drop out.

I don`t like his ideas. If there was no tenure, teachers would get fired for arbitrary reasons.

    No wonder he`s a right-wing lobbyist -->

I agree that some teachers shouldn`t be allowed to teach, or within 500 feet of a school for that matter. However, offering $10,000 to bad teachers is a rediculous idea.

I know a lot of bad teachers. But I only know 2 who should honestly be fired.

The first one is most likely legally insane. A friend of mine prank called her and she blames me even though he admitted to doing it. So now every time she sees me, she screams and runs away. (I am not exaggerating.)

The 2nd one is most likely legally retarded. She doesn`t teach her chem class (shes not even certified to be a chem teacher. she is supposed to teach Health class) She just sits at the front of the class and text messages. Occasionally she will give us a worksheet that another teacher made. But other than that, we are on our own to learn chemistry. She doesn`t even know chemistry herself.

I`m remembering 2 teachers from the 4th grade who thought it was hilarious to watch kids being picked on by other students. One the 2 teachers said my best friend looked like a "pile of crap" in front of her face... in song form.

And of course the sub we had for social studies about a month ago that called us a bunch of hoodlums. It was more funny though.

But, of course, there are probably worse teachers that I`ll meet in my life, so I better shut up now.

One of my English teachers (who was actually replacing another one who had a mental breakdown) got fired because she had an affair of some sort with a student. She also lived with her mom and didn`t know basic grammar rules.

I don`t like his method, but starting to de-unionize should be a top priority in America. At the very least they need an extreme overhaul because unions today are hurting much more than they are helping.

And I`m amused he was nicknamed Dr. Evil. Especially because he opposed MADD. If anyone with half an intellectual mind thought about what MADD has done they`d see they are one of the most evil groups in the world.

Okay, getting drunk drivers off the road, thats good. But they had NO data to suggest 18-20 year olds were more susceptible to drunk driving than anyone else. NONE. Yet they go and play the guilt card to get a Congress to pass a law that will take away a state`s transportation funding if they didn`t increase the drinking age to 21. A very nice way to find a loophole through our Constitution.

Mother`s Against Drunk Driving, destroying the Constitution, one guilt trip at a time.

$10,000 is not that much at all these days. Not if the person were to give up teaching forever. Unless they have a back-up plan, they pretty screwed.

Okay, none of you can match the bad teachers I`ve had.

    1) Elementary School music teacher who got convicted for sexual molestation of a minor.
    2) Elementary Spanish teacher. Didn`t teach anything and a student was on the floor crying (probably had a sudden growth spurt in her legs) she told her to shut up.
3)High school english teacher who made me read 300 pages of Old English (pre-shakespeare) in 1 weekend. DAMN YOU GEOFREY CHAUCER!

I also have had 5 good teachers to combat that but all my other teachers suck.

Primetimekin: 300 pages of literature is good for ya.

I`ve had a couple that I think should have never gone into teaching. Actually, we had a principal that was really bad. They couldn`t fire him so they just created some random position, like director of transportation or something, for him to have. What a waste of money :P

I have no problem with this. If the teachers are really bad, and I know for certain that there are bad teachers out there, why should anybody be sad about them being paid to quit?

Here`s how it works. Crappy to Normal teachers is a ratio of about 4:1. For every for crappers, you get someone who generally cares about education. Usually the crappers end of teaching normal classes, which is why you strive to better your education and take higher level classes. I have five classes, meaning five teachers, at the moment. 4/5 teachers are amazingly good teachers. That last one...let`s just say she bashed last year`s students for failing the AP exam, yet we are on the same track as last year. Nobody understands her teaching, or lack of, and everything she gives us leads to a 5% pass rate. Yet, she is the only person willing to teach the class so everybody loses...

    I nominate that bitch

in america if you`re in private school you get good education. in switzerland if you`re in public school you`re smart and the ppl who are dumb go to private school cuz they`re too dumb for public school. that`s how it works here

    but still
there are some horrible teachers at my school. my school wants to save money everywhere. so the teachers pretty much suck bad.

make me wanna drop out too
but i guess other ppl survived too

Too bad I already gave up teaching. I could use the $10,000.

Yes, I was a teacher. Yes, I was REALLY, REALLY BAD. Yes, I stopped teaching, because I was REALLY, REALLY BAD.

No, seriously. I sucked. I knew it. I quit doing it.

May be a bad response by the union, but this "challenge" and I use the word loosely, in no way says anything about unions being at fault for poor teacher performance. What it does say is busting unions will improve teacher performance which nothing can be further from the truth. Degrade benefits, wages is all that would accomplish and in turn further degrade public education.

primetimekim-yeah, your teachers sound soooo horrible. NOT. I nominated my former freshman English teacher. Who was also my brother`s 5th grade teacher. And a 6th grade history teacher. And an elementary school P.E. teacher (he was ridiculously obese.) And a computer teacher. Point: He couldn`t hold a job, and it was because I proved I was more intelligent than he was that I got him sent back to the elementary school. :)

some teachers are so biased! there were 2 students in the same class, one was A average, one C average, they both did the exact same assignment, but the A average got the usuall A, the C average got the usuall C. WHAT IS WITH THAT?!?! (some kids accutally did this at my school to prove that teachers were biased)
