AFL knockout by Barry Hall. I hope this guy got banned and fined. [Thank you, domisgood, for your eloquent correction.]

We need more players like Barry Hall around, They banned players from playing in the international rules game against Ireland because they were beating the poo out of the wee little leprechauns.

Gawd bless the aussies for putting the balls back into football.

I hope they all just choke on their balls and die already.

The camera was obviously filming away from the action on purpose when that happened ( They only put the video footage after the hit ) and there was obviously no foul call on the blue guy when he was holding Barry Hall and preventing him to play and earn his salary.

Sure the hit was not needed but how can you defend yourself from such injustice when people cheat all the time.

Sports R teh ghey. Bread and circuses. You just lost the game.

yea brisbane`s coach leigh matthews was caught king hitting a player (without the umpire seeing)and a cop spotted it on the sidelines and decided to file charges against him

up until about 10-15 years ago what barry hall did happened all the time in footy

Well, only 1 state in Australia takes that sport seriously (excluding a few fans)
---------------------------------

haha ur an idiont, only 1 state takes it seriously? how about
-victoria, south australia, western australia, tasmania, northern territory where it is the states number 1 sport? only nsw and queensland it isn`t number one, yet sydney swans and brisbane lions still get bigger crowds than any league teams and its growing rapidly on those states with each about to introduce a second team

Interesting tidbit - The current coach of the Brisbane Lions (same sport - different team) is the only man who has ever been criminally charged by the police for what he did on the playing field. 50 meters off the ball, he king-hit some fella and knocked him out cold. THAT is better than Hall`s pussy punching and `not knowing what he was doing` O_o

Yeah, it was a nice punch but the point is the guy is a thug who should be in jail, not anywhere else, for that kind of behaviour. I think the AFL should change the rule so that arseholes like Hall get their 6 weeks suspension plus however many the guy they hit is out for. At least he`s 31 so only a year or 2 left playing footy.

It may have been well-executed, but a freakin` LEFT CROSS has no place on the footy field.

Nope. It`s not rugby.

Similar sort of gear to rugby though.

I personally thought the punch was absolutely beutifull.

how come when things like this happen in hockey people always say "only in america" even when its in russia... but when something like this happens in the UK or australia nobody says "only in wherever"?

This is the AFL (Australian Football League), we also play NRL (National Rugby League) and ARU (Australian Rugby Union),

In Australia
Only Rugby union is called Union
Only Rugby League is called League
Only Soccor is called Soccor
And AFL is simply called Footy

He got a seven week ban. But he couldn`t play for six weeks anyway due to his broken wrist. Essentially it`s a one week ban

am i the only one that thinks that that was pretty sweet? i hate the cheap shots as much as the next guy, but that was some pretty nice execution lol.

i do, however, hope he gets suspended...from a fan-p.o.v. that sucks. kids dont need to see that crap.

When Barry Hall played for St Kilda he was always doing this and getting into all kinds of poo. He then moved to the swans and thought he had got this out of his game. The scary part for him is that he has admitted that he doesnt know why he hit him - there was no reason. He voluntarily is seeking physiciatry now so at least hes trying to help himself.

Notice that "football" is used correctly down under. It is not soccer. At least some countries have it straight.

whats funny is he got 7 weeks for hitting the guy but will probably be out for 10 because of his wrist...
LOL, serves him right

He didn`t even glance at the guy after hitting him. He must be really secure with his masculinity. I`d of been watching to make sure he wasn`t going to hop back up and kick my ass.

What a dick!

He even tried to connect on what looked to be 2 previous attempts...and each time he took a swing, he immediately followed up with the "hey, it wasn`t me" look

As a professional cricket player, his coach should probably explain what the term "it`s just not cricket" really means.
