Its not hard at all to bump a lock. In fact, it only takes one hit with a rubber mallet. lmao, he should have learned from professionals beforehand. Dummy

Nice one Shoyz, thats all it takes to make the bump key fail. Now you should only need for your front door as the criminal will try that first and if they can`t get in, they will move on, In the rare case they go around to the back, well there is nothing that will stop a motivated human being so no need to go over the top and slide lock all your doors, as how will you get in if you lock your self out?

Also I bet after the reporter got off the air he gave the bird to the anchor guy.

The guy should have made sure he could do it before they went live. And from the small part I watched, he wasnt doing it right, he kept hitting it over and over and it just takes one good pop. Plus it`s hard to do when you first start. A for effort.

DerekDoom: umm dude, you can`t slide lock yourself out of your house, that would defeat the purpose.

Bumping is pretty easy to do, there are certain locks that are tougher so the 11 key set is the best if you`re going to actually use it for "legal" purposes.

Personally I would just go with an electronic lock that doesn`t use keys

but then again locks are there to keep honest people honest, they can`t keep people who really want to get in, out.

PWNed! Did I ever get in? I gave up watching after 2 mins.

But it`s not exactly news that people can quite easily break into your house without doing much damage. I mean lock picks have been around for ages - though they may take a bit longer.

They already HAVE invented a lock that makes this impossible. Can`t remember who did it, but it also could be re-keyed without even removing it (yes, the original key was needed to re-key it). It used a ratcheting mechanism instead of tumbler pins.

Probably should have run through that before going on air. Oh well, at least the cops know he isn`t a burglar anyways.

I think I`ll go buy some medeco stock now.

i guess a bump key would work for petty criminals...but if you actually had a lot of cash u could probly get a better lock that a bump key can`t open

though it is unnerving 2 know that there is a device like that...time 2 get a gun

Gotta love how they have a black guy`s hand using the lock right as they make their point about `Keeping your family safe.`

To be fair, they did show a white guy`s hand right after that... Still seems a little fishy to me though.

I think they are emphasizing on how u cant tell the insurance company that your house was broke in due to lack of evidence...eventhough I`m sure there will be bump effect on the inside of the lock...btw...slide lock aren`t all that safe...you can have easily take it off with wire and can lock it from the outside using tape...
