Well at least Tom Cruise isn`t in this one, making it automatically superior to the original.

I don`t buy it. I think he learned a formula to get attention. Even if he can do that, hey how about this: I have a calendar. Weak. Still better than the one with Tom Cruise, who can`t read.

Imagine if this guys ability was real. Substitue numbers for ATCG and apply pattern do the DNA sequence...something useful. They should test whether this guy has a formula or not by applying the different rules to different pattenrs of number...instead of 7 use 9.

How the hell do people not believe in this? It`s the result of autism. Not all autistic people are like this but there are ones who are.

With that face and body, he better damn have an IQ of 200!!
Anyway, it seems to me that he found a way to calculate really fast (in his mind) the dates and days of every year.
He takes WAY too long as if he was thinking too much, but maybe that`s just because he wasn`t always a Genius.
Like all other `Savants`, his talents are pretty USELESS. When he can find a cure for cancer (not AIDs, no one cares about AIDS), I`ll consider him a REAL asset to our society.

Without our tendency to constantly abstract what is into language, we`d all be able to do this. This is the raw, unfiltered brain at work.
    Without opinion or interpretation.

if things evolve through necessity then why do humans only use a small part of their brains?

    @ HankMagoo, Shortone0726, iBeth:
you people are fools. no one said that it was useful. just the fact that he can do it is amazing.
congratulations. you can look up what day it is on a calender. he can figure it out in his head without the aid of external objects.

    @ Wey_Pooh:
what constitues "too long"? the longest he took was like 5 seconds when the guy said he was born on april 8, 5872. how fast can you do it?

that is not entirely true. it is just as impossible to say that humans use 100% of their brains. the brain has an unlimited potential for learning. tell me, what is 10% of infinity?

    (end rant)

This is NO ACCIDENT. The guy spent 20 years obsessed with calenders - of course he`ll be superb at assigning a weekday to any date. Over time he probably created mental short cuts that allow him to calculate the date quickly even without knowing it.

You should read Frames of Mind by psychologist Howard Gardner who proposed the theory of multiple intelligences. In his book he discusses autistic individuals that have amazing mathematical or musical abilities who can hardly function in normal situations.
