I think Einstein just didn`t like the thought of a finite universe.

Actually, Einstein DID fail out of school, but it was because he refused to learn French.

No wonder other countries insult our education system. That, and the fact that there are politicians who cut educational funding, but have no problem spending taxpayer money on personal pet projects... like teapot museums...

Would have been more entertaining if the writer hadn`t decided to use expletives every 2nd f**king sentence. I`m not a prude, but there comes a point where you`ve got to wonder if the writer is a repressed 12 year old who is trying to do `grown up adult stand-up comedy`.

As for Einstein never knowing failure, that`s not true. Einstein couldn`t grasp the conclusion that the universe is expanding, and forced a mathematical proof that the universe was static. However, this was disproved by spectrum shifts in moving galaxies. Einstein later declaired it his greatest folly.

That was a boring article..I new about the Christopher Columbus thing because I was taught the "truth" but I don`t really believe the other ones that the author talked about.

In addition to the point in the article about christopher columbus, he actually never reached America at all. Funny that.

True facts about history they didn`t teach you
Paul Revere never made his ride, the Spanish American War started by an accident and not an attack,(ships boiler blew up) Teddy Roosevelt never made the charge up San Juan hill. Sadly, I could write all day about the lies we were fed in school.

Quote Dakkar
"They quipped about Einstein working on quantum physics. Yet, if they even took the smallest amount of time to read about Einstein`s later years they would find he was a staunch opponent of quantum physics and would have nothing to do with it."

Wyngit is right. Einstein only became opposed to what essentially his work started when he realized it conflicted with his idea of an infinite/constant universe.

Also, Einstein DID fail a physics course. (Or get a D [or a D equivalent, forget which]) It was a practical physics course, in which he felt that he was above the given instructions, so he would throw them out and do the experiment his own way.

pc-player, the only subject that einstein REALLY struggled with was grammar, much like the people on the internet...

This is *not right*. If you`d look at what Einstein got his nobel prize for, it was for the optoelectric effect, which was a confirmation experiment *for* quantum mechanics.

Also Einstein *did* work a lot with quantum mechanics. The bose-einstein condensate result of solid state physics for example. Go check it out!

General relativity is cool but it cannot explain what quantum mechanics does; they deal with length scales that are quite different.

I remember learning some of this stuff as a child. Then, when I got to AP world and U.S. History in school, my teachers told us all the truth. It was shocking, and it`s sad that people still learn these myths in school.

Never heard that Einstein was poor at math, but i did hear that he was bad at other subjects... I wonder why they didn`t mention anything about it here.
Also, he might have very well failed a math class, but NOT because of his ability. Rather, he might have been rebellious against the teaching institution.

ikeray, complete calculus was invented by newton and Leibniz at the same time but independently. Better put, Leibniz and Newton invented modern calculus

Its funny that they proposed a ridiculous lie in their article.

They quipped about Einstein working on quantum physics. Yet, if they even took the smallest amount of time to read about Einstein`s later years they would find he was a staunch opponent of quantum physics and would have nothing to do with it.

Kinda like me. General Relativity FTW!

Where`s the one about the first Thanksgiving? I want our nation`s children learning that they didn`t sit at a table and say grace, but that the only grace they were saying was to protect them from the fevered assault!

einstein did get low marks in math, but he wasnt an idiot in math. he did get lazy when he was older, and had the lower people on the totem pole do the grunt work, but he wasnt stupid when it came to math.

and newton didnt invent calculus, it was believed to be around back in the "ancient" era, and i believe it was ancient india (iirc). i had a book about where all the parts of math were discovered.

and i doubt that cracked knew too much about einstein`s math history, especially since they always comment about not citing sources, and they didnt themselves.

on a random note, it isnt completely impossible to believe that einstein was advanced in math nor that he might`ve taught calculus while still learning it. my reasoning? i did that my freshman year of high school when i took calculus II (with all the seniors) and by the end of the year, i was up at the class more than the teacher.

Did you know that the quote, unquote Pythagorean Theorem was found on pyramids in Egypt...I guess fact number 6 is that anything people thought Greeks did was really stolen from Egypt. Christianity was too.

And US historians find Canada`s History boring because, quote, "Not enough death".

Whats better, not enough death or being tought lies in the school room?

Like when when Drunk angry "Canadian" farmers marched down and Burnt the White house Down, or How The "US" lost the war of 1812 thanks inpart to one really stupid strategy. (Fighting down the river instead of cutting off supply downriver)

5. I knew about Washington Irvin (he wrote 3 books on Columbus.) And it was Pythagoras or another guy discovered the circumference of the Earth within 500 miles. The first globe was made in 1492

4. That was obviously fake.
3. His niece said that a fruit hit him on the head. It never said apple or not but there is some truth to this
2. A child and an axe dont go together
1. I always doubted it but was never sure
