    /Begin/ Really mean Joke.

So, first you could transform the bots into a hooker-bot for a good time, then have it transform into a washing machine to clean the sheets. Hell, it could do both simultaneously! It could screw you and do your laundry at the same time! Ya know, like a normal woman, but better. }-)

    /End/ Really mean Joke. >:D

Loofah, that was terrible. Shame on you and all of us who are proud of you.

Pretty sweet vid, lots of potential behind that if it ever works out. Imagine the miles of spaghetti-wires you`d save by having solid models replace computer screens, with the same versatility. Whoa...

yeahh, that tech has a long way to go, seeing as the stuff they showed in the begin with the car isnt real cause they said "Reaserchers HOPE to build one that can shapeshift into a car or a person"

doesnt this idea of 3d modeling go against swarm robotics? or at least the current conception of it? I watched an interesting mini documentary on it the other day and nothing this complex was presented.

saw the thing with the cars and thought nano-machines.
saw what they really have now, and know its not going to happen in this life time.

we have a proof of concept, doesn`t mean practical implementation is even possible...

    This is realy cool.

I can realy see this as the way to go to get to nano-robots. if they manage to make these shapeshifters, they are just a step away from nano-robots.

and they allready know how to make these shapeshifters, and how to make it work... They just don`t have the materials, or the production methods that is needed to do it... so maybe we will see the prouction of these in 50 or so years.. who knows?

"I doubt it. Source? I`d like to be proven wrong because it would be... awesome, basically"

i think the movie is pretty much a source for this in itself, if you do a little logical thinking.
They have the idea, and they know how they want it.
they just don`t know of any way to make it small enough, and they don`t have the materials that is needed to make it work. It would need production in nano scale (wich is still being figured out), and a material that allows an easy change in the magnetic structure, so it kan bind itself to any other of the same material at any point around a spherical construction. A change in magnetfield can also give a change in colour (corect magnetic field can bend light so only certain colour specters reflect.)
So they know how to do it, just not HOW.

    hehe :-)
