I find that sending a family member of a ruling family to war (regardless if it`s in the midst of battle. Prince Harry was still relatively in danger compared to if he stayed at home) is vaulable for morale.

Instead of sending out thousands of everyday sacificial peons who`s supposed to be willing to die for the country. Personally I find it revolting how the US sends armies after armies to Iraq and yet Jenna and Barbara Bush are happily getting drunk back at home.

First of all Pabasa, the term "ruling family" is not aplicable to the british royal family. They dont rule but are more a figurehead/tourist attraction. Quite frankly, many people want rid of them.
However..as much as I couldnt care less, at least Harry wanted to go and fight and be equal to other soilder there.

And why is the IAB material?

Jenna and Barbara have a wonderful example in their daddy to follow. A (Insert deragatory character remark here) who proved once and for all that democratic system is seriously flawed.

Props to Harry though for fulfilling his civic duty to whatever extent allowed.

I am fully aware they are merely a figurehead The_Maddog, but they`re still steeped in British culture (from an outsider`s point of view anyway), and even though they have no powers to speak of, they are IMO equivalent to the Bush family in the US, even though technically Gordon Brown`s family is the equivalent.

Media has portrayed both families as `leaders`, and to that extent so does morale. A celebrity going to physical war would produce a similar (though probably at a lesser extent) impact on how people view them. A positive impact, mostly.

Ahh, it`s working for me now.

I`m glad he went to war, it`s a shame he had to be pulled out. I don`t see why though... The soldiers faces could easily be covered without comprimising their ability to act, and then he couldn`t be recognised. And yes, the reporter was increadibly annoying.

Im so sick of hearing about this, its a gift for news 24 of course who can string this sort of thing out to ludicrous lengths. I do think Matt Drudge is complete t.w.a.t for featuring it tho, whether or not some inconsequential australian rag mentioned it before or not.

actually it was an australian apparently, but once one person opened their gob they all joined in. it is discraceful though, he only had about 4 weeks left to finish. its a shame he couldnt finish it but at the end of the day thats how it is. I feel a bit sorry for him, he enjoyed the anonymity.

As far as I knew, Harry ENLISTED in the military. Why should the Bush girls have to, just because their dad is the president? It`s not like we have an ongoing draft and they are avoiding it.

Pabasa, you don`t understand how the America Military works. In the U.S., females aren`t allowed to have combat MOS`s. So if the Bush daughter joined, they would just be desk monkeys, and getting drunk even more and all the same, probably having rampant sex with the male soldiers -- now, that`ll improve their morale.

no no ttsec, women cannot have combat MOS`s, meaning they cannot be infantry, but they can still go over there as mechanics, vets, nurses, dentacs, comms, etc. they just can`t be in strykers, tanks, buffalos, outside the post, etc. but look at the statistics of the military personel. even if W wasn`t president, the chances of two females from a high upperclass family who`s parents are college educated is tiny.

as for harry, i understand the withdrawl once it was put out to the public that he was there, its too bad he can`t do what he wants, even if that is be in a warzone.

^ I know. I was purposefully playing off Pabasa`s "getting drunk at home" comment. Because if the Bush daughters are as Pabasa portrays them, then if they do joint the military, the scenario I described is likely.

The chances of females joining the military at all is relatively tiny, and chances of college graduates joining the military is relatively tiny also. Furthermore, if the Bush daughters joined, they`d probably be officers instead of enlisted, which would mean no more of the drunken culture Pabasa alleges they follow.

    I was satirizing Pabasa.

They`re just going to have to send someone else with a good public image to get killed there.

Of course if a celebrity dies in this war it will only boost everyone impression that this war is indeed something that needs be done.

    I wonder if it`s a coincidence?

i honestly think that, of EVERYONE involved in this war, Harry has shown more courage and integrity than anyone. he`s a good kid. and although i agree that the congressmen who voted for this war and their children should be forced to fight in the war they instigated, i believe it was best said in Troy...
"War is young men dying and old men talking."
at least in those days the royals/leaders had the balls to fight, though. that`s why i respect Harry so much.

Prince Harry wanted to serve his country and bomb those towelheads! He is an exceptional man, doing the right thing.

I didn`t see a problem with the reporter she reported what was going on! If you don`t like reporters on video then don`t watch the visual news click on links and READ. I like seeing visuals lots better.

i should clarify... i meant everyone who`s a major player... bush, the congressmen who voted for it, the UN members who are still letting this go on, and all of their families... i don`t see any of them going, but Harry stepped up and went for it until he HAD to leave. good man.
but as for people who go back after they have to, i only find that honorable if they don`t have a wife and/or children.

The Iraq war is one thing, but Afghanistan is completely different and totally the Good War against Terrorists. Anyone who is against what is going on in Afganistan is extremely wimpy, weak, and a possible sympathizer with Terror.
