he is NOT going to die in `hours days or weeks` his private doctor had to issue a statement about it IT IS JUST A RUMOUR! They say he is responding well to treatment and may actually make a full recovery, if by chance he WILL die of it, then the life expectancy of anyone with pancreatic cancer is abour 4 years so he`s not going anywhere anytime soon!

It must be so very sad for him and his family. Yes, he has millions. He lived a life of `grandeur`. But alas, money, fame, and fortune can not save you from something that fate had in mind for you.
I have known a beautiful person who died from cancer. I have been diagnosed myself and the cancer had not gone away completely. It`s a very scary and sad thing, whether you are rich or poor. To know that life is going to slip by one day, and if you fear the afterlife, or aren`t sure as to what things you did wrong and right in your life, well...these are all things that go through your head.
For anyone dying from it, it`s very, very sad...no matter how sky high the numbers in the bank are.

He`s not gonna die in a few weeks. That was a lie to sell tabiloid papers. He does have cancer but don`t buy the lie.

I think the golden rule applies here. How would you like it if I scoffed at you having cancer? Show a little respect.

How have you contributed to society lately, besides pushing your opinions on others?

I`m not saying your not entitled to your opinions, but when you use diction as abrasive and uncaring as that, no one is going to want to listen to you.

Face it, everybody cares more that Patrick Swayze is dying, than if you were to be diagnosed with the same condition (with the exception of people who know you). You could drop dead tomorrow and I wouldn`t give a rats ass, and you could say the same thing about me.

But if a celebrity that I know about dies, I want to know about. Even if I have no emotional reaction to it, I want to at least know that it happened. Hence, the media serves a purpose.

If you spend your life wondering why people care more about you, or why people make more money than you for doing less work, your going to be a miserable person. Get over it.

Patrick Swayze was part of a business entity that generated millions upon millions of dollars. He was one of the key factors generating the revenue so he was paid handsomely. Was he overpaid? Absolutely not, someone felt that he was worth the expense because in doing so, they would be making money.

As the result of this business entity the characters that he played in those movies were well known to people all over the world. People care about him the same way they would an acquaintence back in college or high school, or a co-worker whom they new casually from the past.

His illness is significant because we know of him, and not of the guy dying of cancer down the block. If my next door neighbor were to be diagnosed with the same condition, I`d want to know about it. That is news to me. I knew him on some level and I find it important. Are you saying that the media should NOT report on his illness.

KoalaMeatPie you`re being an idiot. I mean seriously, a complete idiot. There`s a reason this is important. I get some of your points, but I`m intelligent enough to know why this effects a lot of people. Mr. Swayze was in what is considered an American "Classic". Dirty Dancing is one of the most watched movies in American History, and is considered one of the best. It`s also a huge "chick flick". Nearly EVERY female that grew up with that movie loved it..so it does have a bit of a connection with a LOT of people who watched the movie over the years since it was released. That movie alone is reason enough.

Yes there are people that are personally more important to people, and the media does tend to take things to the extreme in these cases. My father was much more important to me than some actor and he died of cancer in 1993 when I was 11 years old. That`s straight truth from someone that had their on father die of the disease...I still won`t mock someone else for

Wow. People make me frown.

Sucks that he has cancer, but I doubt he cares that we know about it.

It`s also slightly ridiculous that fancylad seems to think the cure for boredom is celebrity gossip.

The only thing worth making a big deal about is that hopefully this will raise awareness and help come closer to a cure, or even a higher life expectancy for those who have it.

Sad news. Hopefully this will raise attention to it from those who respected him as an actor.

Also, I`ve seen these updates since I heard about this yesterday:

Then why is there an argument in the first place?
Why do you have to call me out about it - which you didn`t, you said something else, tried to intimidate me, and now you`re adding something else.

Which is self defeating, because you just said everyone knows what I just said, therefore I do have something.

Therefore you have nothing.

Stick to reasoned argument rather then calling people names.

It just proves you can`t get to me in a logical way.
So you call me names because you have nothing.

I never made fun of the guy for having cancer. infact i was just laughing. Whichever mod that who thinks writing ahahahaha is delete worthy rather than "first post!" is a tool.

Also, Id like to see them post news every time someone gets cancer. Celebs suck.

How do you think the news got out?

And yes, it is a tragedy for several people when anyone gets diagnosed with an illness which will cost them their life, not denying that.

America getting it`s heart set aflame by such news? B.S.

Two things can happen, he can be an attention whore use it to get one last minute of fame, or die quietly as everyone regards how humble he is.

Listen, Patrick Swayze isn`t on the news complaining he is going to die and asking you for sympathy. News gets out and it gets published. And it IS a tragedy whenever ANYONE is diagnosed with a terminal illness, especially one as inoperable as pancreatic cancer, regardless of any fame or wealth you posses.

Everyone else,
This is like Christopher Reeve,
Everybody looked up to him saying he was a model, that he showed that people could still go around living a real life even with a crippling disability.

The flaw is, he was a millionair and his standard of living was much much higher up then the average person.

This is going to be the same thing here.

eugenius,
Why do you insist on saying I`m pethetic and have "daddy issues"?

Why can`t you just be like the others, do the right thing, stfu, and call out what is wrong about what I said, which is what I beleive.

I`m not going to say it again, read my other posts, where people go play WoW, I post my reasoned opinnions and arguments here.

hoolahawk: this is how he makes up for the lack of attention he receives in real life. now we`re all paying attention to him and he feels all warm and smug now. chalk it up to a major case of daddy issues.

Him having cancer is not the problem,
Him getting all this attention and people weeping,

Then there will be the News on TV, the saying "We lost an icon"

WTF mate, I`m pretty sure most people with cancer feel the same way.

He did not contribute to society.

He looked good on the screen, oh no, lets give him a 21 gun salute!

He`s a man with a familly, he has cancer, he is going to die.

Thats sad.

<<< This >>>

Is BS.

KoalaMeatPie - I see your point, but when a celebrity gets sick like this it raises awareness of the disease and may encourage normal people to get checked out, and could therefore save lives. It also encourages people to help out with the various charities involved with the particular disease which could take us a step closer to finding a cure.
Whether or not you give a damn about the individual involved I guess depends on how compassionate you are, or how much of a fan you are, but it`s always good for these things to be reported.

I hope he gets through it.

OH NO!

Cry me a fu¢king river, it`s no tragedy, a lot of people are dying of cancer, many of which are a lot more important the someone who has to look good on the screen to get the money from concsumers to feed an organisation which sh°ts out crap movies.
