I meant a modern instrument being used in a classical environment. The video, for example, was showing cello (classical instrument) being used to play Metallica (modern environment).

Cannon Rock is admittedly good, but not quite what I was looking for. I already have enough loud music banging in my ears. Sometimes I just need some relaxing music to unwind.

Awesome, and makes sense too. If people play classical music on new instruments, why not go the other way round?

if you`re looking for classic music with modern instraments, pabasa, look no further than bucketheads. while sometimes he makes heavy albums, he has several albums which are soft, classical-ish. Ex. "colma" "acoustic shards" and "electric tears" and some of "in search of the". they are probably the closest you`ll get

I`m almost sure I`m wrong, but the video came off as being a fake, like the audience footage being grafted onto the stage/playing footage -- BUT since a lot of you folks are familiar with them and some of you have actually seen them in concert, I guess not. At any rate it reminded me of that Rammstein album cover where they Photoshoppede their faces onto buffed bodies --> Rammstein is still awesome but I`m still not sure about this Apocolyptica. Will have to see and hear more before I decide.

I HATE Apocalyptica! They`re nowhere near good enough to be real cellists, and apparently their mommies wouldn`t let them learn the guitar like they wanted, so while they`re in their little rockstar fantasy land, they`re disgracing two musical genres simultaneously! If you people want to hear cool modern music played on classical instruments, listen to the Turtle Island Quartet. They write their own music and THEY CAN ACTUALLY PLAY. (Their song Skylife is my favorite, by the way.)

Um, okay blargendarg, let me be more specific in case any other idiots couldn`t understand what I meant (however unlikely that is): acoustic guitars are what one might call non-traditional for use in metal and hard rock (with the exception of the power ballad), which, of course, after watching this video and using the words "being used to flat rock out" should have been obvious to even the most casual observer. Apparently not.
