Soon to be the most popular gadget with old people, next to the Clapper, the Medic-Alert bracelet and the colostomy bag.

It`s already been banned from being used in Scotland and there`s a campaign to prevent its use in the rest of Britain too now

Any electric thing puts off a high frequency we can hear. Turn of a TV on mute and you`ll see or rather hear if you can still pick up those pitches.

Live in a house for a week without power and you`ll hear the difference too (storm took out our lines).

I think these things don`t work. We live with background pitches like this everyday. We learn to deal with it. Just my opinion.

There was a time when I was in a lecture hall with 100 people and a student had a ninja ring tone. Only 4 of us looked around when it went off. Maybe I`m ahead of the curve. Lol.

God I`d hate to live there.
Coming home from a date, 24, totally responsible and having to kill the mood completely because some annoying highpitched noise is giving me a headache.

If they don`t know the long term effects it probably should be used.
Hello hear loss?

the high pitched ones are stupid and should be banned, and its ageist too. babies and toddlers, pets and alot of other poeple can hear it and i can tell you it gives some people a painful migraine. the shop near me play classical music when a gang is hanging about....much more affective...gangs cant drat off quick enough :D

Razzle, actually I had never heard of this before. I clicked the link loofahguy left and i listened to it. Some of them are high pitched and hurt like hell! That`s kinda cool that kids use it as a ring tone since the teachers can`t hear it..but why not just use vibrate?

and then the teenagers brain will have tumors and then there heads will burst inside and leaving the teen in a deathly suticide....yeah its gonna have perminate damage on kids these days.

That was my ringtone. Not a good idea since you can`t really hear it well in crowded areas.

Male 161
watch, years from now everyone in that building will go deaf, or years from now their ears will start to bleed uncontrollably, due to the high pitched tone. They think it`s good now but since they dont know the long term effects, anything can happen.
just like that drug from the early 1960s that was supposed to make childbirth easier, and the babies ended up being born without arms and legs.

Um, those aren`t kids...I would say those are...

Nevermind.

Bikerteen, quit being a total d0uche - bag. Did KoalaMeatPie become your new Vienna sausage buddy, or what? Sucking the juices of each other`s Vienna`s must cause some type of strange camaraderie between two goons that only two f.ktards could understand, I guess.

How can anyone NOT hear this stuff. This thing is loud as hell. I know people in their 40`s and 50`s who can hear this stuff. Oh, and this stuff has been proven to damage hearing. It should be banned.

If you have this noise on your cell phone, you better not come anywhere near me, because if you do and that thing goes off, I will grab it out of your hand and slam it into the ground, and then stomp on it with my feet.

Wait, not only is this old news, but the actual interresting thing about that is that people made a ringtone out of this sound so that the teachers at school wouldn`t know if someone`s cell rang. Used to give me migraines...

We`ve had them over here for a year or so now and I`ve never heard one. I don`t know if that`s because I`ve just never been near one or because I`m too old, but still.

I hate those things. Positively hate them. Noises that are not high pitched can sometimes hurt my ears, those things are positively ear bleeders to me. It`s rude.

Female 274
What the Hell?

Since they haven`t tested the long-term effects of the this device, kids my age may have permenate (sp) hearing problems when we get older?

Also, if those kids had any respect for people, they would`ve left the lobby when they were told and wouldn`t have to hear the noise in the first place.

Also, I`m gonna be pissed the first time I walk into a building and hear that thing going off, especially if I`ve done nothing wrong.

By the way, I plead guilty to having the ringtone. I use it to hear my cell in school. I just have to set it on a low ring level so it doesn`t hurt my ears. But at least I hear that annoying sound on a low level by choice, and not at 85 decibals by force!!!

I guess that`s what outrages me... the idea of being forced out of a public place when I have done no wrong.

Today`s society is whack...yes...whack.

I dont know weather or not to go allong with this. Its both very right and very wrong to me. But I guess the fact that its effect is ages 13-25 settles it. If I lived or worked anywhere near there I`d complain, and if that didn`t work I`d blow up their soundbox with fireworks, I`d blame it on the teens if I was questioned. If I had to pass by that place every day, I`d probably swear at the owners.

That`s still ridiculous. Not ALL teens are terrible people who deserve to be driven away.
Some actually WANT an education and a real life and don`t cause trouble, yet still have valid opinions and points.

I hate stupid teens.

Heres a link with examples. I can just barely hear it, but my cats freak when I play it. xD

Still, I cant help but find this to be a waste of technology. Why, all you need to keep kids off your porch is the Smith & Wesson Sigma 9VE Pistol with Semi-Automatic Double Action 16 round capability, with portability and ease of use, making it the perfect tool for any home or garden.

These have been around in the UK for a couple of months now (despite all the controversy). Isn`t this ageist though? If someone invented a device that only deterred black people it would get tonnes of negativity.

They`re getting rid of them in England cos they don`t work. Kids just turn their I-Pods up or ignore the noise. They`re great as a ringtone though. Teachers can`t hear them.

So they make kids leave one place so they can hang out and be annoying in some other place.

Why doesn`t the city actually provide something for these kids to do with their time?

And I don`t know why kids younger than 13 wouldn`t be able to hear it.

It,s not "only 2..."

Just stop it, that simple.

Wish they made a portable version.
Or one of those directional sound devices.
