And Henri Poincaré didn`t invent the idea of relativity, Galileo did! : P

Eat science kids. It doesn`t matter who comes up with the idea, if you are too slow to execute it someone else will.

This guy is full of it. Almost everything was completely wrong except for part of the Edison part.
While T.A. didn`t invent the very first light bulb he was the first to make one that worked for along time and that people could afford. As for the rest of his inventions I don`t know about every single one but most of them were actually his. And the thing about Einstein, just proves that the internet is full of complete A-holes who don`t have any idea what they are talking about.

i thought everyone knew edison didnt come up with the idea for the light bulb but he perfected the lightbulb so it will last.. the first lightbulbs burned out almost instantly (remove all oxygen and pump in a different gas, shape of the glass so it wont shatter when the air is vacumed out)
i never heard of galileo inventing the first telescope..
no one invents anything on their own anyway.. someone comes up with an idea.. someone makes that idea better.. and so on until its perfected

Also, Pythagoras most likely didn`t come up with his theory, he stole it from some poor and obscure person.

Haha, your right 5Cats, I forgot that fact about Bell, although he worked almost exclusively in America on the telephone.

And of course Edison had Menlo Park and his lab at Orange filled with other workers. Still, he oversaw all the operations and did play a role in the creation of his inventions. A team like this was needed for him to accomplish the feats he did with the light bulb. One man could not of produced everything necessary to create an entire electric infrastructure. The ideas still came from him and he did work on them with the other researchers. I don`t think that detracts from his legacy.

Of course, his battle against AC, does detract from his legacy, but he was defending his DC infrastructure. Can`t say I`m not surprised.

The small bit of truth in this was so totally exploited by their desire to make people to look bad that it`s just comical.

I think the funniest thing about these comments is that the idea of, "This is totally wrong. They have no facts" is repeated, yet the commenter`s offer no alternate sources.

a lot of these facts are totally wrong...
while many of them are pretty obvious...

"According to "Assume the Position" on HBO History is Pop Culture and most of the times it is the sound of the name not the guy/gal who actually did it that matters. Come to think of it who knows about Israel Bissel`s larger then life ride to Pennsylvania (from Boston) the same night that Paul Revere went a meager 19 miles."
Saw it great show.

Edison did not have the first lightbulb but he had the first lightbulb that lasted more than 11 secs. Einsteins was the first to use relativity in consideration with space

...Einstein = sex maniac???

He is more of my hero than he originally was.

Dakkar, Bell was Canadian.
Edison did either buy (lightbulb) or steal many of "his" inventions. He had a staff of men working on them, with only Edison getting any credit.
Tesla was hated by Edison, who personally tried to destroy him and his career. Edison was a sick little puppy.
Ah well, par for the course. History books are always filled with "convenient facts" rather than accurate ones.

I thought Galileo nicked the idea from a bunch of kids. Did not appreciate the contents of this website - too much swearing.

Lot`s of poor arguments there.

Bell`s only real work at Western Union came from working on a harmonic telegraph, which he abandoned once he started working the telephone. Maybe he got the idea from the original patent, if he even saw it, but even Western Union used a patent from Elisha Gray to try and defeat American Bell, but they failed.

And they`re hatred for Edison really makes them biased. For one, Tesla eventually triumphed over Edison when he worked with Westinghouse to produce AC instead of DC current.

Plus its plain fact that all inventors use other patents to further their own work. I doubt Edison stole the ideas of carbon wiring and improved vacuums all of which were developed at Menlo Park. At most he got a boost from other patents and worked hard to perfect those models.

Trying to trash some of America`s greatest citizens. Nice try...

Poincare` and Klaus and Klein, all were the originators of most of Einsteins theories, he just perfected them into a simpler form that idiots like me without autism can understand.
