By the way If you IQ is greater than 150 then good for you. I was not challenging your intellect, rather the way you presented your arguments in a biased manner, thus the narrow mind referral. Do not get offended by that, you already offended us in your initial posts far beyond the word "narrow mind" by saying we were "towel heads, camel jockeys, carpet riders, etc..."
So what do you say, donk?

If you would like to post back then you and I can argue in a peaceful manner and if anyone else wishes to tag on then that is fine as long as we remain respectful of each other`s views and opinions.

The reason I say this is beacause you google things taken out of context and say they are what Islam stands for.

I could google things that show that the bible talks about incest relations in the homes of the prophets and I truly hate the person who inserted that verse in the bible for it depicts prophets (peace be upon them all) in a manner worse than the offensive cartoons and pictures we saw, yet these verses are preached to christian followers and it clearly encourages outrageous behavior. The reason I refuse to post this verse and others that speak about murdering entire villages with inhabitants young & old and taking women as sex slaves, is because in the Quran God states that men with desires changed the bible and that the original pure bible was given to Jesus(PBUH) but men with worldy desires changed it after him.

Thunder these are all verses of the Quran that speak on dealing with non Muslims and non believers of Allah. It says in pretty specific words that you are to fight against people who do not believe in Allah. You call me ignorant but the God I believe in said "thou shalt not kill" not Muslim (1:33) - the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. What you are preaching is not a religion of peace but of hatred. With your religion you are either Muslim or you are the enemy and you deserve death. You can call me any name you wish but in the end everyone is not buying what you are selling. And we are laughing at you not with you. Oh by the way before you call me ignorant you might want to compare IQ`s...mine is above 150...

Wow donk, you do not surprise me. You are clearly very ignorant and narrow minded. Anyone can simply type "vandalism and mosques" to find similar findings to what you used to label "the truth about Islam" let me put an end to this nonsense, ok. Listen I really don`t care what you think to be honest. If you want to label the 1.3-1.5 billion muslims by some a$$hole who decides to take a leak in a church then I would not be surprised to see an ignorant person like you who says he is a muslim and decides to label the 2.1 billion christians in such a manner that you have just demonstrated because of christians carrying out similar acts of vandalism.

Baalthazaq, your rant doesn`t contain any legitimate points worth countering and rings of whining. (Presumably) your religion is worthy of the criticism it receives. Those who subscribe to Islam are not correct all the time and it would be comforting if you acknowledged that once in a while.

In any case, Muslims who disapprove of illustrations of Muhammad remind me a lot of the natives on Stargate who quickly erased any writing of pictures in sand. A truly ideologically backwards region.

Here are some interesting information about Islam

Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran.

"A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man`s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl`s sister."

minjofu, sometimes a couple of words say it all, yes?
So,
Thank You.

I know we may seem in small numbers (the likes of you and I) but we are not there is a whole bunch of us and hey what would this world be if we did not taste the sweet and sour -by the way, I love sweet and sour chicken- also us humans are very inquisitive by nature so how could I know that a lemon was sour if I do not taste it or that apple pie is sweet unless I taste it?
Also, we are all good people in nature and not once have I met a "bad" person without some good qualities. That is why bad character is a mere shadow of the good being and it should remain like that grounded and never praised (a little of my philosohpy if you will :) )

I learned that the only way for me to come to ease with a problem is for me to investigat it myself. And here is another thing I would like to mention, when I was in the middle east a number of people called us the Americans and that we should go back home, these were people I went to class with and some were teachers that treated me differently, but my God and my mother kept us strong and so I was able to see through that and love those who loved me for who I am and encourage the others to be friendly and tolerant. So, there you have it a little chapter in my being that I am thankful for because it helped me formulate my philosophy about life. I was at one point not welcomed by a small number of people in a very small town in the middle east and at another by a small number of people in a very small town in the USA. So, tell me donk, can I but smile and be kind so that God sees I can withstand in his sake what he wills?

donk... that was not too hard, was it? your first few comments really were not encouraging for me to comment to you, but the ones you just posted are all too well for me to say otherwise. I would like to say that I myslef am American and I just had the opportunity to see and live the viewpoints of others and that things are not always what they seem. Like I mentioned before I was literally afraid to move to the middle east when I was 10 because of what my friends and teachers described the area to be. They told me it was not even safe to walk in the streets and that you could get killed by tribes men and so forth... I was surprised by seeing the complete opposite, and so I would like to say that I was in your position some time ago but I had an opportunity to test what my friends and teachers had to say.

The Wiki article listed the picture of the prophet because it was discussion that Muslims don`t use pictures of him, during one short time in history the did but without a face and during an even shorter time they used pictures with a face. I was not attacking the Muslim religion, I was commenting about how they have taken over our town expecting everyone to change to suit them. If someone wants to worship their living room curtains that is their business, but don`t expect me to change mine because you deem mine offensive...

The difference was that he did not demand for me to adjust to him. He told me his concerns when I hired him and we worked to adapt to them. If you knew me you would see that I am probably the most laid back person that you would ever meet. I just believe that if you are move to America don`t expect special treatment. Like I said earlier I am sick and tired of all the PC bull$hit. Don`t do that you might offend the Mexicans, don`t say that you might offend the Muslims.

Thunder...I never said that I hated anyone. My issue is that ever since September 11th, Indians, Muslims and other people of Arabic decent have all but invaded this country and they are expecting to be treated special. Expecting us to adapt to their way of life. I have the same issue with Mexican people also. Why do I have to see menus in Spanish, listen to an automated message that says "para español marca número dos" or watch Dora the Explorer teach my kids spanish? People who move to this country should not expect special treatment, they should have to follow the same rules and laws as everyone else. Don`t come into our schools and expect them to cater to your whim. About 15 years ago I was a manager of a pizza store and I had an employee who was Muslim and I made exceptions for him to pray during his prayer time. I was told by my Corp office that I could not do that and I fought them on it because of his beliefs and I won. He also did not want to touch

Fojos:

1) Of the 139 dead, almost all were Muslim protesters shot for protesting in places where they were practicing freedom of speech. *Looks at everyone who has yelled for freedom of speech no matter what*

2)"They"? Really? The 1.2 Billion people with at least 2 major denominations and at least a dozen minor denominations do different things? I can`t explain it...

"Europeans" are all peace this and peace that, but then "They" vote for the Nazi party?

"Americans" are all republican this and democrat that but then "they" vote for Ralph Nader?

What? It`s stupid to say "They" when it`s 1%? Then WTF are you doing it for under 0.1% for?

What`s hard to understand about a group of people taking up 1/5th of the planet, and not sharing an identical world view on every issue?

thunder86.. See, I hadn`t heard that story.. Everything I hear about Islam has been on the negative side.. Like I said, I understand that muslims find displaying their prophet offensive, and now to a degree I understand why.. It`s gone from a frustrated confusion (the "what the hell is their problem??" philosophy), to an acceptance and appreciation for the respect you show your prophets. I believe you do what you do out of love, and devotion to something greater than yourself. That`s pretty cool.. You can always tell a trully spiritual and faithful person by their subtle demonstrations of humility..

In other words something in the treaty might be good (Fix corruption in police force/ fix labour laws), might be something we`re already doing (When it was discovered there was mishandling of evidence the prosecutor was fired and replaced in a recent rape case, companies not paying their workers are being fined + named/shamed, labour laws coming, etc), but the treaty may contain a timeframe that we can`t expect to meet, or a target. (Drop corruption to 0 cases, ever, and do it by tomorrow).

Either that or the UAE is not willing to meet the budgetary demands in the treaty.

It`s rare that the reason for not signing a treaty is a moral one, although that can be the case. (Demand for abortion at all stages of pregnancy, rather than the 12-16 week limit in most of Europe or the 24 week limit of the US is one example of something that may cause an otherwise acceptable treaty on women`s rights to fail).

BZZZZZT Cat 5. Out of 1000 mosques, 996 spoke out against terrorism. That`s mainstream.

There are plenty of books listing Mohammed`s wives.

Everything you`re saying is taking something one person said and assuming that`s mainstream, bottom line is it`s not.

Otherwise that one judge in Philidelphia can be used to say Americans are rapists, actively encourage rape, etc.

As for Racism in the UAE: My CEO is Indian, and I`m a local. In fact my supervisor is Indian too, and I`m a local.

The problem in the UAE is poor-rich. Not intolerance to race/religion. I also happen to have a boss who is openly gay.

As for finding treaties unratified by the UAE, there are plenty of treaties that few countries sign. The states being one of the worst offenders in that regard. Usually because of some rider that the country finds unacceptable, or puts an impossible task on them. (Fix entire police force in 2 weeks or face fines).

One more thing, in my opinion a truly "enlightened" and "intelligent" person who wishes to persuade people that they truly know what they`re talking about should spend more time building up their cause, than tearing down someone else`s.. You`re right? Prove it by demonstrating the "rightness" of your philosophy/beliefs, instead of attempting to destroy someone else`s.. Telling someone "you`re an idiot, and this is why.." isn`t going to bring anyone onto your side..

^^ it tells us that all those men were prophets and were sent by God because us people need guidance and a means by which we abide, or else we have some idiot saying that pedophilia is ok because it can be logically debated-and no I am not labeling any atheist by my reference here- but that is why I knew a law was needed to keep people on good conduct, I mean think about it, if it were not for your parents prohbiting you from drinking alcohol while you were young you might have drank alcohol and became addicted to it, or what if your parents did not put guidelines on what was appropriate conduct you would try to take someone`s hard earned money because it was a smart capitalistic move, erc... these things and more matters can be solved easy if there was a supreme law that answers them all, and like good should be praised, bad should be punished (no 5Cats, no beheadings involved) if you don`t spank your child lightly does he/she stop screaming at the mall, etc...

Let me expand on that last note because it had a major impact on me when choosing Islam as Religion and a way of life and conduct, afterall, religion is conduct. The last point I mentioned was how Islam confirmed the previous prophets Noah, Abraham, Lot, David, Solomon, Moses, Jesus etc... peace be upon them all (we as muslims have to say peace be upon the prophets when we mention their names as means of respect and honor) Now I definately did not want to follow a religion that involved one prophet who came some 1400 wears ago (Mohammad peace be upon him) the reason being was that I knew if there was a God he must have spoken to his creation long before that. And so my journey began and I took the matter with an open mind. After studying Islam for some time, I declared myself as a muslim who believes in one God (Allah, which basically means God in Arabic, Christians in the middle east call God "Allah") because it answered my question about the Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddh

I was born in Indianapolis and I knew my parents were muslim but I knew nothing about Islam, as a matter of fact my parents allowed me to play with my friends on easter, paint eggs and all that stuff that christians do. I grew fond of those things when I was young, we were kids and I loved hanging out with my friends. Later, we had to move to the middle east and truth is I did not know what to expect because of how horrid people at my school made it sound. I was 10 years old at that time. At first, I wanted to come back because I missed my friends and my teachers McDonalds...

Until someone explains how Sharia laws can be enforced on both Muslims AND non-muslims OUTSIDE of Muslim countries? Forget all the "religion of peace" crap and look at bitter reality.
..And before someone whines "Christians are just as baaaaad" let me say this: I can match atrocity with atrocity vis-a-vis C/M religions. The difference? Almost every Christian atrocity happened over 300 years ago. Muslims? Just like they were for the past 1000 years.

thunder86, you mistake "university" for real-life. 90% of people in "the ivory tower" are anti-religion, anti-free speech (except their "liberal dogma") and FOR many things Muslims MUST reject. Like open homosexuality, sex outside of marriage, women`s rights, equality for all, teaching that God is dead. You know, the "little things" Saturnia mentions.
..Secondly, you fail to explain why the highest powers inside Islam FAIL to speak against terrorism, Jihad, "honor killings," the killing of homosexuals by the governments of all Arabic countries. Until the highest powers WITHIN Islam stand clearly for peace (Darfur, Gaza) justice (teddy bear death sentences) and freedom (4 wives, human slavery, Sharia "laws") how can those outside it believe a word it says?

Also, if anyone seems intrigued about what I said, read the Quran on your own and judge it by your own prospective, do not take my word or the news man`s word for it. You will either hate what is in it and refuse it but you can say you came to your own conlusion, or you will be guided by it. Just don`t expect to see a rainbow and birds flying around you when you read it, just see what your heart says. What harm can formulating your own opinion bring?

By the way when Jesus spoke to the people not many followed him (peace be upon him) and he and his followers were hurt in the sake of God. Just sit down and think for your self, if not now, then when?

I explained to them that in our religion we think highly of the prophets of God and it hurts us to see anyone of them depicted in such a derogatory sense. One guy looked at me and said "man you don`t even believe in Jesus" I replied "I could not call myself muslim if I did not believe in Jesus (Eesa in Arabic) and God says that the BELIEVERS who believe in God Almighty and his books (Srciptures of Abraham, David`s Zaboor, the Torah (Moses), the Bible (Jesus), the Quran (Mohammad)) peace be upon them all, and whom also belive in heaven and hell and his angels will enter heaven.

One: I was in my english class 1101 in college, and we were covering "Art as a Language" and we were looking at images that are portrayed as art. I was baffled when we turned to a section where they had the prophet Jesus (as you see him "Chrisitains") in a bottle of piss. I looked around in my class to see what the reaction was from the christians in class and I was astonished to see that not a single person felt shame or even offended by the image. I myself was so offened even though I know that the man in the image is not jesus because jesus -as someone already stated- more likely looked middle-eastern becuase he was from that region. I raised my hand and told the doctor that I feel offended by this image only because it says "Golden Jesus". After that a couple of students said "yeah we think the same way" I told those students "I am not christian, I am a muslim."

I am proud that us muslims still adore our prophet in a manner that fits a great man (peace be upon him). Us muslims believe in all the prophets mentioned in the bible and torah but we differ in believing God is one and he sent the final prophet Mohammed as a confirmation of the older religions Judaism and Christianity. I will mention two experiences I went through where I found that ignorance was the reason for the intolerance.

lovemeowmix - Well, did you draw a picture of Mohammed? Did you write a book with the names of his wives in it? Did you attempt to convert them to any other religion? See, those are Fatwa offences, punishable by death. Not just for fellow Muslims, but anyone who commits these offences. That`s what got the film maker killed.
..Having Muslim friends, here in North America at least, is fine. Offending them in any way? Less than fine. Again, for the "hard of thinking" I mean those Muslims who embrace or support (or remain silent on) extremist views, not every last individual, eh?

Can someone please answer this question for me.. Was the depiciton of Muhammad always offensive in Islam, or is that a relatively recent thing? Obvioiusly those pictures were drawn/painted by someone who was interested in the religion enough to try to capture the "spirit" of it`s focus prophet.. They put care and consideration into his placement, and the manner in which he was dressed, so obviously those paintings were not created to mock him...

Personally, I understand that it is offensive, and I can comprehend the reasons given - however I`m a christian and I`ve seen many blue-eyed silky haired Jesus paintings, but never found myself offended by that.. I just shake my head and laugh it off.. Funny thing is Jesus would have looked more like Muhammad than what he`s depicted as..

I mean come on, you learned to respect before kindergarten. It would take the 10 secs to delete the pics. And isn`t the point of Wikipedia to have a crapload of TRUE information? As for the issue, I`m on the fence. The article concerns Islam. In Islam, rendering the Prophet is frowned upon. It would seem that this fact should be incorporated in the article. Yet those two paintings are historical. We cannot erase a part of history to appease what is considered correct now. Maybe Wiki can link the paintings, and those who are intersted can just click.

As part of a class, I`ve been to Catholic churches, Protestant churches, Synagogues, Buddhist temples, Sikh temples, and Mosques. I was welcomed, learned their ways, and joined in their rituals. What did I discover? All religions follow the same rules under one title: humanity. Do not kill, do not lie, do not cheat, treat others as you would like to be treated, etc. This is true religion, in all its forms. Unfortunately, some decide to twist the words, or shallowly follow them. The main religions came out a long time ago, during war times, tribal times, desperate times. Some of the religious rules set were specific for the way people felt and acted back then. Times have changed. Many know that religion is not what we wear, what we have on our wall, or who we hang out with. It is the way we think, we act, and tolerance. All religions have open-minded people like this. Yet all the media focuses on is the backward thinking of the uneducated few. I guess because they`re the loudest.

The Super Best Friends episode showed Muhammad, AND they gave him fire powers. It was aired on July 4th in 2001.

I fully support wikipedia posthing this article but to call for the complete destruction of Islam for their opposition to the picture? Isn`t that a bit drastic?

Yes, Islamic countries need some sort of renaissance and reformation as well as democratic, secular government to really be tolerant but if this online sanctuary for hate is any indication, people are just arseholes in the first place and there`s nothing to be done to change that.

They have taken over every gas station in our town. I will not patronize them, I drive 10 miles north to buy gas. When my daughter graduated there were 10 rags with the same last name Kahr. I told my wife that the emcee was skipping like a record someone need to bump him. They came to America and need to adjust to the American way of life, not expect us to adjust to the rags way of life. I am not a raghead, I am an American. By the way I am half German born to a mother who came to America with my father and I have a German wife who came to this country not speaking a word of English, but she learned and adopted the American way of life, so my kids are 3/4 German. Should I go into school and demand that the school play German music in the morning and serve wienerschnitzel for lunch?

The town I live in has been all but taken over by these rag heads. They even demanded than their music be played over the PA system in our high school when the kids are entering school in the morning and the school bowed to their demands. They have all but taken over an entire subdivision (about 150 houses out of 200). I have been through this neighborhood and they cook their $hit food in the garage so it does not stink up their houses, which means the other 50 AMERICAN families have to smell that $hit. The men walk through the neighborhood in the morning carrying swords, they call them ceremonial swords and the police won`t do a damn thing about it because they are afraid the rags will sue them. I walk around my neighborhood with a sword and I can be awarded a trip to jail.

What positive news stories do you hear about anyone? Here`s Achmed baking a cookie?

Well what about the third largest charitable donation in history. As well as the United Arab emirates being the first major donator to live aid.

what about all the work by the red crescent?

What about the fact that out of 1000 mosques in the gulf surveyed on September 14th, 2001. 996 condemned Sept 11. Guess which 4 got airtime stateside.

Currently, it`s the middle east that has the worlds biggest building. One of the worlds most multicultural and tolerant cities (Dubai at 88% non-national).

Is today`s world society really at a point where this should effect everyone? Sure, I understand why this is creating such a big commotion, but should it? I mean no offense to any one when I say this, but is the Islam faith so weak that after many hundreds of years seeing a the face of your sacred prophet lead to idol worship? He was a man, who recieved a message and spread his message. Are you really worried that seeing a face, that looks just like everyone else`s face should create this entire clusterf*ck of people`s opinions that can`t be changed? "It`s not their personal beliefs that are being offended. It`s their religion that`s being s.hit on because Western culture says it`s okay."

BAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW! Western culture won`t bend over backwards for me!

Does that mean we need to ban peanut butter because *some* people are allergic to peanut butter? Does that mean we have to stop using pesticides because someone might care about disease-harboring pests? Does that mean we should shut down all forms of the press because someone might print a curse word in an article and offend people? Does that mean no one can win an election unless they have 100% of the vote because it might offend someone that their candidate didn`t win?

The Supreme Court of the U.S. held that they have the right to even though they would be offending everyone in the country.

The nazis didn`t march through Skokie because they knew what would happen to them if they did. I wish they had tried.

Isn`t it one of the Ten Commandments to not take the Lord`s name in vain? Yet it is part of the adult vernacular, and you don`t here most Christians complaining because they know it is futile.

I`m not a Muslim, but I will respect their wish not to have images of their prophet created. I try to respect the taboos of other religions.

However, historical depictions posted on an a website like Wikipedia serve an educational purpose (one of the few reasons why offensive speech will be protected here in the U.S.).

If you want a lesson on freedom of speech, google Skoki and see what you find.

Wikipedia is a medium for information, it holds many contraversial and offensive images, all for the purpose of informing and teaching. The images serve the purpose of showing depictions from many centuries ago, and I`m willing to bet that those pictures have been on the website for some time. Why choose now to take offense? This is political correctness gone mad. Everyone is entitled to the right to become offended and to have an opinion, but why does that opinion have to effect everybody else?

Also, a small note regarding the teddybear case. How comes parents are allowed to name their children Muhammad? Surely that too is giving Muhammad an identity.

It`s their sacred, holy prophet.

And Wiki`s putting pictures up like it`s their Cousin Billy.

Seriously. How incredibly obtuse of Wikipedia.

It`s their religion. It`s not their personal beliefs that are being offended. It`s their religion that`s being s.hit on because Western culture says it`s okay. How freaking arrogant!

"why should they have to stop themselves coming to webpages or block the images when they have as much right to the internet as anyone?"

So if I`m offended by porn, do I have the right to demand that all porn be taken off of the internet, despite what anyone else believes? Or should I merely censor what I view? It`s MY responsibility to monitor what I view, not someone else`s. Learn to be self-accountable, people! Just because you`re not enough of an adult to take care of yourself doesn`t mean that the rest of the world should have to babysit you and censor you from images that YOU find offensive.

Okay, it`s not like Wikipedia actually created the images of Muhammad, they are merely posting images that have already been created. So why the big fuss? Sounds to me like some of these people need to put on their big boy underwear and deal with the fact that posting historical drawings on the internet will never be illegal.

Incidentally, I totally support Wikipedia keeping the pictures up in this case. The Danish cartoons however were another matter.

Specifically: "Lets be as offensive as possible to test the reaction".

Ah, I see, so burning Crucifixes just off someone`s lawn would be ok? I mean it`s not necessarily a death threat, it`s just letting "them" know their place?

Similarly, with the cartoon depictions of Mohammed. They were drawn specifically to be offensive. (In some cases, to garner support, certain fanatics drew their own pictures of Mohammed and pretended they were part of the danish cartoons, to ensure offense and support).

The point is, clear race hate, should not be a part of freedom of information. What is being protested (protesting btw, is freedom of speech), is how accepting people are of Islamophobic images/messages.

If Washington Post came out with an article "F*cking N*ggers" to "Test African American Tolerance to Freedom of Speech", it would not be tolerated, sales would go down, boycotts would ensue, advertisers would pull out.

Not the case when they`re Sand N*ggers huh?

"The other involves the publication of harmless images"

but are they harmless to those that are seriously offended by them?

you guys have to remember just WHY they are offended. Baalthazaq has already stated the reasons why depictions of muhammed are forbidden in the muslim religion.
i think its (religion) a load of old sh*t but they should respect their wishes.
why should they have to stop themselves coming to webpages or block the images when they have as much right to the internet as anyone?
theres loads of offensive stuff on the internet, thats MEANT to be offensive, and this isnt one of them. they wouldnt knowingly look at offensive content of their prophet would they? wiki is meant to be for everyone. so is the internet.
i second this:
"Burning Crucifixes on lawns should not be part of free speech"

I agree that burning Crucifixes on lawns should not be part of free speech.

...which is hardly the same thing.

One involves a trespass onto private property for the purpose of terrorizing the occupants with what amounts to a death threat.

The other involves the publication of harmless images (except for those who publish them...who become the targets of death threats...much like those with burning crosses on their lawns).

I am ofended at their offense. Can we please censor all the muslims now? No? OK, now we are equal.

Muslim extremists need to be eradicated with extreme prejudice. With that said, so do any other religious zealots like some Christians and other fanatical morons. Fanatical religion defies all reason. That is the bottom line.

Don`t get me wrong, I am for religion, but not at the cost of sanity which is more than I can say for SOME of these people... not all.

Reasons for not having depictions of Mohammed include but are not limited to:
1) Idol worship.
Muslims don`t want Islam to ever deteriorate to a point where they worship Mohammed instead of God. Having statues/pictures of him is therefore forbidden, because they want to make sure there is never that focal point for worship.
2) Mis-information.
That is not what Mohammed looked like. Nobody knows what Mohammed looked like. Drawing him puts a specific image as an ideal. (The same reason they don`t like the fact that Jesus is currently drawn looking something like Charlton Heston rather than Yasser Arafat. It reinforces racial stereotypes/ideals).
3) Specifically insulting pictures.
The cartoon drama wasn`t about pictures of Mohammed, it was about characterizing all 1.2 billion Muslims as 1 person.

Burning Crucifixes on lawns should not be part of free speech.

not too much hatred? please?

obviously they are wrong to demand the image taken down
obviously they are right to request the image taken down

freedom of information > all
but really thats just my opinion
and my opinion holds equal value to anyone else`s

wiki doesn`t display the images on the arabic version, so they have already made attempts at reducing offence

how about you go write a greasemonkey script if you cant read the arabic article? :P

you search for information about muhammed you get information about muhammed... damn, thats not what you wanted?

obviously a lot of you are ignorant of islam, so i`ll attempt to enlighten some of you.
islam forbids the depicition of the prophet because the muslims believe it will lead to a form of idol worship, where they pray to the messenger instead of to the one diety aka allah.
to have an imagine depicted of him is offensive to many muslims, especially since nobody knows what he looks like.
if you think that it should be on wiki, that`s fine, but respected others beliefs should be considered...
either way, don`t shoot me, the messenger.

OK. Next time I see a pathetic muslim bitch in the street with a burka I simply stone her and pretend she offended my Atheism. Come on! What kind of pathetic race wants some images on the internet taken of because it represents some guy who decided to put a mess on this planet. I totally support Wikipedia`s decision and hope everyone understand that if we accept this kind of protests, the next thing they will do is to ask us to remove the churches, then all the women will have to wear a veil. Next we will be blown but some bombs like in drating gaza!

Well if the muslims dont want to look at the face of Mohummad, then no one is forcing them to. They can decide NOT to go to that page, or some enterprising fellow can come up with a Mohummad image blocker.

Ok, to explain, it`s basically a sin for Muhammad or Allah`s images to be realistically depicted; usually they are shown as geometric symbols.

A picture showing Muhammad as looking like a real person is very offensive to Muslims, and this is what they want removed from Wikipedia.
