Where the Wild Things Are: The First Look?

Submitted by: eugenius 9 years ago Entertainment

Is this clip a high-quality fake, a screen test or the real deal? We’re leaning towards screen test, but who knows?

If this is real, Im probably not going to see this. Right along with G.I. Joe and Thundercats.

This movie looks awesome. I don`t know if it was just the atmostphere or the fact that its a screen test, but it kind of felt like one eerie, in a Willy Wonka kind of way-a kids story, but deeply eerie at the same time.

Very true sepia-tenshi, the style was completely different.
My favorite by Maurice Sendak was Chicken Soup with Rice.

EstiloPanama,
That`s what it said in his profile. I didn`t make it up.
BTW, good job loofah on your clearly blatent sarcasm. Good thing you justified it with a "lol" or a "not really." Sarcasm doesn`t pass well over the internet. You should know that by now.

"OMG, it`s my favorite book in the whole world! Oh, I still read this book to this day! OMG! OMG!! Oh, I have SO been thinking about this book even before this test screen play came out! I am so cool! I READ CLASSICS!!"

Anyways. Yea, I read the book when I was little. Not impressed. I can`t stand books about brats anyway, even as a bookworm. But I might watch the movie...might be interesting. Who knows?

I didn`t like the book when I was little. What? It`s true. I thought it was stupid.

I want to see that, though. Maybe I can get my bf to get his nephews so we can go see it without being embarrassed.

Maurice Sendak would be proud! I didn`t know he was American though, I got the impression he was Russian, from the illustrations. An enjoyable book, one I grew up with.

I think that monster was molested by robots, maybe the Decepticons.

I loved the book when I was little, but I`m always a bit cynical about these Holywood remakes.

I`m not sure if this particular clip is done with CG or not. Apparently Jim Henson`s Studio (Muppets, etc.) is involved, so it will likely be done with animatronic puppets. Spike Jonze directing too!

Ooh we went over this book in my Reading and Writing Children`s literature class. In addition to what others have said, it`s also quite the fairy tale.
After having gone over it, I think the ending`s the warmest of all, reminding Max that his mom will be there for him in the end.

LoofahBoy,
You don`t need to act tough just because your online. I highly doubt the things you said are true. In fact, I`m sure you were a pampered, spoiled boy in your early childhood. Are you "Too cool" to show emotion? Have you tried to realize that the only thing that keeps you "popular" is the fact that you strive on questionable facts? Here`s a quote from your profile.
"Favorite Movie: Dr. Strangelove, Transformers, School of Rock
Favorite TV Show: `KaaaaaaameeeehaaaameeeHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!` "
I`m pretty sure that justifies my point.

But in the slim chance you were telling the truth, the book was about a little boy who got sent to his room without supper. His room turned into a jungle where the wild things are. They showed him the true meaning of Christmas.

This used to be my favorite book when I started to read, having said that of course you don`t like the book... its target is early grade schoolers and kindergarteners, somehow i don`t think you were worried about that back then. Unfortunately that clip did resemble the book the slightest XD

The main character was this disobedient punk whose imagination took over his room which basically turned into the jungle(after being sent to his room without supper for chasing the dog with a fork). The idea was not really a cute relationship with the monsters. It was about ferocity and totalitarian ruler ship, he sailed to this island and tamed all the monster being called the most wild thing of all. The book was anything but cute, probably why i liked it XD

Actually Axium, I think you`re right both ways.

From Wikipedia: "The seven creatures will be actors in up to 9 foot tall suits made of foam, although it is expected that their faces will be computer-generated."

It looks damned good.

This is a real film, based on the now-classic Maurice Sendak children`s story, and it`s already generating a lot of buzz. Looks real to me, but it also looks unofficial. A leak?

larajunky: did you have a childhood? "Where the Wild Things Are" is a classic children`s book. This adaptation is being filmed by Spike Jonze. I think that might be Sean Penn voicing the monster.
