I need to see that film.

Also, if you enjoy documentary films, I strongly recommend "F*UCK" Yes, it is about censorship and opinions about the "most offensive word in the English language."

Rent it, and pass it on.

"I`m sorely tempted to join an MMORPG, but I`m afraid if I did I`d never leave the house."

Me too! The graphics on WoW loom pretty awesome. Still, i know a guy who played on it so obsessivly he now only communicates with his friends via the internet. He never goes out, plus he lost his girlfriend because he cared more about playing on it than spending time with her.
I can see how easy it is to become addicted though.
Too competetive; there`s always gonna be someone a higher level than you. *shrugs*

Mmhmm. Hold on...hold on...*picks up WoW 10 Day Free Trial Disk On Desk*...Yeah, it ain`t gonna happen. Seriously, how come Warcraft in general can`t hold my attention? The first Warcraft game I played was Warcraft III and I lost interest when I got to Gaia. Maybe it was just the fact that I spent a huge amount of time starting and restarting that stupid *GATHER MORE WOOD* quest. Oh, not to mention the stupid RPG elements. Seriously, Warcraft could be better if it weren`t for the leveling up character bit. RTS != RPG, two different spectrums people! Yes, RPGs have strategy but RTS shouldn`t have RPGs, catch the drift? Like "All RPGs are RTSs but no RTS is an RPG" sorta deal...IMHO

Was one of the words that flashed across the screen at the end "grinding"? All on an MMROPG? HUH?

WoW isn`t that interesting to me, I don`t get how people can play it for hours and hours.
I did a little trial of it that my sis got from her boyfriend, I killed a crap load of wolves, talked to midgets and then I got bored and imitated a train.

I would SO watch that. :-) I wish they would try to put in FPS games like Halo 3. I used to play Halo 3 nine hours a day, but I stopped. I`ve been sober for a long time. :-)

introduce kids to guns and lots of blood, or introduce them to spell casting and fighting imaginary beasts? i think the latter would spark some major imagination in kids.

Im eleven and i have played fps since i could pick up a controller, and it has only affected me in a couple ways, it has increased my intelligence, how alert i am and my finger dexterity, it hasnt turned me into a terrorist or a gun crazed maniac. Sure maybe i will buy a gun someday but not to rampage small towns.

cashcleaner....the guy said he has twins on the way...im pretty sure he has had sex.

im a WoW`er but not that hardcore. ive played one or 2 times for 14-16 hours in a row, but it gets tiresome and burns you out. addictions are people with weak wills, which allows you to give into yourself and say, "ok just one more time." its the same as smoking cigarettes, they arent that addicting to me, i can smoke a pack a day for a week, and not smoke one for a year. weak will power ftl.

i find having people addicted to a fantasy world is a lot better than being addicted to a more real game (like counterstrike). introduce kids to guns and lots of blood, or introduce them to spell casting and fighting imaginary beasts? i think the latter would spark some major imagination in kids.

I used to play WoW, but I quit because it got too boring. I played pretty casually, so while I used to raid hardcore during BWL-->Naxx days, I didn`t have a strong connection to the game, but to my guild.

My BF, on the other hand, had the mentality that I think is what gets a lot of people addicted: he NEEDED to be the best. He had to quit because it was taking over his life, and he still thinks about going back.

We play free MMORPGs now that are too crappy to get addicted to. This was a very interesting video, by the way, and very well done.

Use to play WoW, gave up on it, a game that forces you to grind in order to get anywhere is bad in my eyes >.<........and like someone said before Quake Wars ftw!

"how do people become addicted to it, it`s exactly like any other MMO" But this one is one you can get your wife to play.

Doesn`t meant it`s good, just means it`s about as complex and intellectual as cutting out and playing with paper dolls.

MVP Baseball 2005 is the best MMORPG ever. It may not be massive, online, or a role-playing game, but its totally two-player... and baseball.

EVE online? everquest? lotro? omg they are all appalling, especialy everquest. wow is definatly the best of the bunch but its ridiculously addicting, has awful graphics and sylisticly its well.. gay. yea i said it; its stylisticly camp. ive played so many mmos its not even funny, i switch between about 3 and 4.. The problem is when people become engrossed in their characters/avatars, Its all down to an addictive personality and i hope this documentary will prove it. (Old news btw)

I used to be just like the guy who said he played warcraft for 14-16 hours a day and it made him sick. Warcraft is evil!

...But I might just buy one more gaming card. ^^

Can`t wait for this documentary.

I have a friend who`s addicted to WoW. He goes to his job and all, he just doesn`t sleep.

Not like I`m one to talk, I met him on the type of multiplayer game that`s older that MMO`s: MUDs. Yeah, that takes gaming to higher dorkiness, considering that MUDs are text-based.

I never could get into WoW. It just seemed boring and slow on my laptop. I think that means I need a new computer.

There was a Good Gamer Documentary a few years ago, called "First Person Shooter" 2003 i think, before MMOs where really huge.

The lesson Here is, MMOs arn`t the problem, People predisposed to Addiction are.

With 50 million people worldwide playing MMOs (and this doesn`t include the ones that pay per hour, common occurance in Asia), online gamers are a significant part of society. Thus it`s really quite important for the rest of the society to appreciate and understand the gamer society.

Not that I expect this documentary to change everything. But eh, guess it`ll be a good watch.

Just want to add my 2 cents by double posting... why is it that seemingly 80% of Americans seem unaware of major events / seemingly obvious things going on around them... until someone decides to make a 2 hour documentary about it?

I had someone come up to me and go "Did you know that if you eat nothing other than Mc Donalds for a whole month you could die?!" - after Super Size Me - It`s like, This is news to you ... why?

Seems intresting.
I used to Play WoW for the people, I loved to hang out with my friends and such... Things went bad. Don`t ever start a Guild with your friends.

My Account Expired two weeks ago, havn`t talked to my Friend in over two months. Known each other for a good 5 years.
