I don`t think it was staged but it`s possible. If it was real, then HA! Dumbass! You better make sure you know the answer before you do something like that!

For the second time, I was not siding with anyone. Was just saying what I would of done in the situation.

http://blogs.smh.com.au/lifestyle/asksam... is a good read about proposing in public etc.

I don`t get this fault issue. The way I see it, the guy flipped a coin for led or silver. sadly he got the wrong side of the coin, and it affected both of them. As for the woman, she did what she had to do, is she is gonna get married then she better be damned sure she wants to.

Every situation if different. Maybe he had been proposing all along and she was like NO then he was like I have a plan and she didn`t go for it, who really knows?

I personally think its photoshopped as well as staged and she had a very ill fitting sweater/blouse on... make sense? No. lol-ers

But if it was legit..I feel sorry for the guy, but obviously there was something wrong.

If somebody asked me to marry them like that, i would say no...lol.

1. Lakerzz8, since when does Garnett play for either the Rockets or the Kings?

2. It seemed legit, if it would have been faked, it would be much funnier if she just nodded no instead of whispering in his ear.

3. This was a recent game, happened this year

4. The polite thing for the girl to do is whisper in his ear "no" but then nod her head as if it was yes.

5. Tracy McGrady was laughing.

6. I love the title. Who cares if it was their second date.

7. The guy is an idiot.

It was staged. This was done a day before valentine`s day as a joke. You can hear the commentator saying Garnet really enjoys the joke or something like that.

Raztits, it would be worse for the guy to hear a `yes` and then later be told by her she only said so to save him from being embarrassed. How humiliating!

It`s just plain stupid (and not romantic at all) to propose a girl on live TV without even knowing whether it`s gonna be a yes or a no. In case he was fully convinced she would say `yes`, he apparently doesn`t know her well enough. Well, pay the price, sucker!

Um.. Raz, first of all no matter what the situation, if I wasn`t ready for marriage and my boyfriend asks, I`m going to be saying NO. Saying yes will not make me anymore ready than before, if anything it will make it worse. It won`t fix any problems that we had just because I said yes.

Most people would NOT say yes if they weren`t ready.

Anyhoo, the mascot made it hilarious. That`s what he gets, stupid guy.

In reply to my last comment:
I would like to state that I was just making a point about xdonutx saying that it was rude for the guy to propose to her in public.

I`m not siding with anyone since we don`t have any facts about their relationship (how long, met with parents, discussed it, etc.) I still think that if this wasn`t staged, it would have been better for the girl to say yes to the guy, then say she isn`t ready after they get off the court.

Okay, maybe she didn`t want to marry him. He knows that he is taking the risk of proposing without discussing. But he obviously thinks that they are perfect couple and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Most people in that situation would say `yes` to the proposal even if they weren`t ready, and that was what the guy was probably thinking when he was thinking about "what if she said no" in the back of his head. I mean who wants to feel embarrassed on LIVE TV? Just becuase she said `yes` on camera doesn`t mean she HA

okay, obviously she couldntve said yes, because then he`d get all excited, then shed have to break the news to him later. not the best idea. misslefay`s idea is reasonable, though.

It`s great how the players are chuckling.

As for the guy..he really shouldn`t have put the girl on the spot. There`s no point if she was pressured to say yes.

This exact same act was done at a Wizards basketball game a few years back, and everyone involved in that later admitted it was fake. So I`m sure this Rockets game is no different.

has anyone else noticed that close to the title it says `so what if its their second date?`

well anyways i dont blame the girl. what if she just wasnt ready to get married yet. and if he gets embarrassed, thats his fault for not thinking about what if she says no. at least she told the truth instead of saying yes and the guy`s family and friends are watching the game and they get all excited and then later she says no. that is messed up.

I think it was real.

I also feel bad for the guy though he acted dumb. But people don`t normally use their brains when it comes to matters of heart. Anyways I don`t blame the gal either. No point in lying just to save him from embarrassment.

But I am pretty sure he will get a lot of gals now since they love heart broke silly guys who wear their hearts on their sleeves. BTW the commentators reaction was quite funny.

It sucks for the guy, but he really should have had a conversation with her beforehand to see if she was interested in getting engaged. It`s his own fault that she embarrassed him.

And to those of you saying that she should have helped him save face by saying yes, and then telling him no later on, you obviously have a hard time dealing with disappointment. That would only hurt him more in the long run, and why should she have to suffer the discomfort of lying because he couldn`t be bothered to have a discussion with her first? He put her in a really terrible position, because no matter what she`s going to have to break his heart.

I understand both sides, but I side more with the girl. It is better for her to be honest, and the guy knew what he was risking by asking her in front of a bunch of people. If he wasn`t alright with running the risk of being embarrassed, then he shouldn`t have done it publicly.

I believe the guy is totally at fault here, he brings her to a public place where thousands of people will be brought into their personal life. All thats gonna do is embarrass her to no end. It puts so much pressure on her it makes it almost impossible to think clearly. Whats the point in that? Its not romantic, its pure embarrassment. It took a lot of guts for her to say no. In the end, she was so embarrassed that she runs out of the stadium.

Well, the staged or not, dunno, it could be either I guess. But I believe its real.

My girlfriend and I have (after being together a while) have discussed it. I at least know before I do pop the question that she is willing.

Don`t put them on the spot without some sort of mild discussion first, or you may be disappointed.

I agree COMPLETELY. Saying no is going to hurt him no matter how it is done. Best to do it without embarassing him in front of millions of people.

Raz, I love how your opinion is stereotypical of a guy. Imagine the girl telling him yes to "spare him the embarassment," then later saying, "just kidding"? Do you think that`s fair?

Or do you think she should have just married him to spare him BOTH humiliations? Of course, as long as it spares the poor, victim guy.

Putting someone on the spot like that may be "romantic" if you know that that is your girl`s thing, but otherwise, it is kind of rude. You have to give her the choice - asking her then is basically saying, "look at the people watching. You have to do it."

Anyway, I hope this was staged becasue if it wasn`t, she`s a real witch.

And if it wasn`t, I have to side with raztits, that was really rude of her, not him. She could have taken the ring and said, "We need to talk." in his ear to save face. I think it would be really romantic and not rude at all for someone to propose in public and really mean and rude for someone to reject in such a frank manner. If she had any feelings for him at all, she should have helped them both to save face.

@donut

Sort of rude on the guys part? Usually if you are proposing you have been with the woman for awhile, especially if you propose on the court.I don`t understand how it is rude to propose to someone in a public manner. How was he supposed to know she would say `no`? "It`s not easy telling a guy no?" as you say. Seemed to me like she said NO without any real thought. Also how would you know? 13-17 years old and you have already been proposed to? Props for you.

If this wasn`t staged then she could of just said yes to save the embarrassment, then later tell the guy she isn`t ready.

Oh that poor girl! How embarrassing. You know everyone will side with the guy and make her out to be a witch, but honestly, it`s not easy telling a guy no. What was she supposed to marry him just so he wouldn`t have to face reality? It was actually sort of rude on the guy`s part as well, putting her in that position.
