No your parents are just letting you use it for the day, than you have to give it back.

All I could think about is that the kid must be gay. Not saying it`s a bad thing, just saying his reaction was a bit feminine.

Have children really gotten that bad that when a kid acts the way hes supposed to it "shocks the internet world." That`s just sad.

He is so sweet, note to self, all kids should act this way. You go kid.
After how he acted I would have bought him a thousand more things just to make him happier. What the dad said at the end made it even nicer.

I reckon that kid has some bad disease - note at the end of the video how his parents are like "You`ve had some pretty bad birthdays, and this one you`re not in the hospital, you`re not sick.."

howdy, all... i am nik`s dad... i guess a lot of folks are wondering why I didn`t want him to wreck the box? :) Nik likes to destroy boxes on everything from cereal to board games... and for things like our computers, game consoles and photo/video stuff I save the boxes. And, for those inquiring minds at home, I hardly ever play it, it really is the boys box. The last time I played Crash Bandicoot was in January.

`nice kid, can`t help imagining if it were all a practical joke. "and I can keep it forever?", "not really, now, get your hands off it, we have to return it to the store by eight"`

That would explain why that guy kept saying "don`t wreck the box" throughout the video.

If you get a defective system, you might want to return the game in a not-grotesquely ripped box. Who knows if they`d even take it back at that point?

You always take precaution when opening things, as you might have to return them.

As for the people saying the kid is too young to play Halo: He`s not your kid. The parents know him better than you and are able to best judge whether or not he can handle playing Halo. When the time comes, I will most certainly let my son play the games he wants with proper supervision and age-appropriate discussions regarding video games. Although at 2, he`s a little young to be thinking about that just yet :]

I think it`s up to each individual parent to decide whether their child is "old enough" and not society to enforce it on them.

feeelix: It`s shocking because many bratty kids are ungrateful for these kinds of gifts. I was the same when I got my PS2.

Oh another note, I actually think the Dad is making sure he doesn`t wreck the box in case he has to take it back, because of the Red Ring of Death thing I hear so much about.

Anyone agree?

At that age, I`d be grateful for a piece of candy and my first thought would be to make sure either my sister got one too or I`d share mine with her.

On a side note: why wall-mount a TV above what could be used as a TV stand only to have wires hanging down from it anyway?

i reacted similar when i got my first cassette player when I was a kid... i wanted a particular one from the Sears catalogue, and i knew I was gonna get it, but when I opened the box, it was a much more expensive model with detatchable speakers, a dual cassette deck and an AM/FM radio. along with some cool cassettes. The one I wanted was just a plain cheap, single cassette player with 1 speaker and no radio. I still have that stereo in my room right now, and I use it almost every day. [I have an adapter in one of the cassette decks so i can listen to CDs and MP3s on it, as well as all my favourite tapes.

I`m pretty suspicious about this. It seems... well... fake. PARTICULARLY the end when the father brings up the child`s hospital stints and broken collar bone. It seems such an unnatural thing to say, when you think about it. I`m very unconvinced.

And no, I don`t just think this because I find it impossible to believe that a child could be anything other than a monster.

Next, dad is going to teach him how to properly pwn someone after a sneak attack kill. "Remember son, killing is not enough. You have to do a victory dance over the body. More squatting - try to make it look like you`re pooing on them."

"Awww... Thank you DAD! Thank you for taking time to explain to me how to humiliate my fallen foes." *teary eyes* *big hug* *cue the music*

Seriously, though. Cute kid. Nice to see someone grateful enough to realize that video games and toys are a luxury and not a God-given right that parents are somehow obligated to provide.

To above post: Dude, can you lighten up a little? the same thing happened to me. I`ll tell you my story. When I was 4, I lived in a 3 bed 3 bath house in Auburn Massachusetts. I had great christmases and I was happy then. my house had a pretty large mortgage and we strained to live. My mom was a nurse, shed get a fairly large check. my dad too, although he worked as a priest at a prison. I had it all. but my parents always had strains in marrage, and when my baby brother came, which is now 3 mouths to feed, It was too much. So we moved out and my dad lived somewhere else. We then moved in to a condo, which was poo. Unbeknownest to me, My house was actually owned by my aunt, and we were renting. My parents got divourced in 2002-2003, and I was completly ruined. My house was poo, the christmases were poo, and so was everything. then my mom figured out her old boyfriend was free. Thats when the good started happening. after a while, we bought a awesome house cross town(cont. next)

I bet after they taped they were like "PSYCH! We`re taking it back to the store!" and that`s why they didn`t want him to wreck the box.

But that`s quite a well-mannered boy right there. Then again, he was apparently in the hospital for half of his life, so I guess things even out.

I`ll be mobbed for this, and I`m all for being appreciative, but that got on my nerves. It`s a game system. There are better things in life than that. The things I appreciate most are not material, and I want to teach my kids that. "Thank you" will be enough from my kids. I understand he had some crappy birthdays, so have I. There were birthdays that I got nothing, Christmases too. Instead of resenting the poverty I went through, I embraced it, and learned from it.

Back to the kid, as I stated, I`m all for appreciative kids, but that was too far in my opinion. (BTW, ganging up on me and cursing me out isn`t going to change my opinion. I`m not trying to change yours, I`m just stating mine.) Besides, some kids are overdramatic as a way of manipulating their parents (not saying HE is), I lived with 3 of them. *shudder* They would do it because like everyone else, they would coo and aww, and the kids would get more stuff. For xmas, these kids presents were stacked 6ft high.

This is a kid who appreciates and is much loved by, his parents. Not all kids just "get it handed to them", what a great way to show some families aren`t dysfunctional, instead of showing only those. This kid knows the value of hard work his father does to provide, and "Appreciated" it!!!
