And it sounded like the kid didn`t think he was worth it. . .

Really sweet kid, if I hadn`t had my tear ducts removed at the age of 2 I might even cry a little, but give me a f~cking break.

The mother says, near the end-

"You`ll have to share the XBOX with your father, he`s gonna want to play it every now and then"

F~cking right. I bet this made him feel like the number one dad in the world too.

I`d probably be kinda like, "You spent all that just for me?" but in the end it`d be like "HOMG GAME SYSTEM" and play it forever. XD Thing is I get kinda guilty-feeling if people spend lots on me - I hardly use presents D8 Never find time for them!

This is a kid who appreciates and is much loved by, his parents. Not all kids just "get it handed to them", what a great way to show some families aren`t dysfunctional, instead of showing only those. This kid knows the value of hard work his father does to provide, and "Appreciated" it!!!

He strikes me as a child who was perhaps adopted after being abused. He can`t possibly fathom that anyone would do something so nice to him. Of course, I could be wrong and that could be his real family.

    Hmmmm....

His reaction is not "shocking the world", Its a bit of a stretch but his reaction should be typical.

I would never buy my kid an xbox360 at that age, much less a game of halo.

Whoever has got a kid who reacts with more craziness than this is not raising her/him right.

Funny, but this is how I reacted when I got my N64, sort of. I didn`t do as much hugging and kissing, but I did give my parents a lot of hugs. I didn`t even spaz out like most kids. I just smiled a lot and said thank you.

    BTW, I LOLed.
I wasnt this appreciative when I got my PS3. I spent the whole day playing Super Busy Hospital....2. You have to heal the characters who were shot from other video games. "Dont bother me Mom, Im performing surgery on a man who was shot in the head 57 times"

I`ll be mobbed for this, and I`m all for being appreciative, but that got on my nerves. It`s a game system. There are better things in life than that. The things I appreciate most are not material, and I want to teach my kids that. "Thank you" will be enough from my kids. I understand he had some crappy birthdays, so have I. There were birthdays that I got nothing, Christmases too. Instead of resenting the poverty I went through, I embraced it, and learned from it.

Back to the kid, as I stated, I`m all for appreciative kids, but that was too far in my opinion. (BTW, ganging up on me and cursing me out isn`t going to change my opinion. I`m not trying to change yours, I`m just stating mine.) Besides, some kids are overdramatic as a way of manipulating their parents (not saying HE is), I lived with 3 of them. *shudder* They would do it because like everyone else, they would coo and aww, and the kids would get more stuff. For xmas, these kids presents were stacked 6ft high.

I bet after they taped they were like "PSYCH! We`re taking it back to the store!" and that`s why they didn`t want him to wreck the box.

But that`s quite a well-mannered boy right there. Then again, he was apparently in the hospital for half of his life, so I guess things even out.

To above post: Dude, can you lighten up a little? the same thing happened to me. I`ll tell you my story. When I was 4, I lived in a 3 bed 3 bath house in Auburn Massachusetts. I had great christmases and I was happy then. my house had a pretty large mortgage and we strained to live. My mom was a nurse, shed get a fairly large check. my dad too, although he worked as a priest at a prison. I had it all. but my parents always had strains in marrage, and when my baby brother came, which is now 3 mouths to feed, It was too much. So we moved out and my dad lived somewhere else. We then moved in to a condo, which was poo. Unbeknownest to me, My house was actually owned by my aunt, and we were renting. My parents got divourced in 2002-2003, and I was completly ruined. My house was poo, the christmases were poo, and so was everything. then my mom figured out her old boyfriend was free. Thats when the good started happening. after a while, we bought a awesome house cross town(cont. next)

And the internet is going to laugh at me, but it saddens me to know, because I`m gay,I won`t get the chance to actually experience somehting like this.

Next, dad is going to teach him how to properly pwn someone after a sneak attack kill. "Remember son, killing is not enough. You have to do a victory dance over the body. More squatting - try to make it look like you`re pooing on them."

"Awww... Thank you DAD! Thank you for taking time to explain to me how to humiliate my fallen foes." *teary eyes* *big hug* *cue the music*

Seriously, though. Cute kid. Nice to see someone grateful enough to realize that video games and toys are a luxury and not a God-given right that parents are somehow obligated to provide.

I`m pretty suspicious about this. It seems... well... fake. PARTICULARLY the end when the father brings up the child`s hospital stints and broken collar bone. It seems such an unnatural thing to say, when you think about it. I`m very unconvinced.

And no, I don`t just think this because I find it impossible to believe that a child could be anything other than a monster.

domit, are you serious? My poverty was worse. I did have some things, but my father was a millionaire and he wouldnt even give us air conditioning. Its worse when you know you can afford something, but chose not to. Now, everything has changed. I can afford what I want, and I am appreciative. Just a game system? Its obviously something that he has wanted for a long time. He finally gets his wish.

    well the kid deserved it

i reacted similar when i got my first cassette player when I was a kid... i wanted a particular one from the Sears catalogue, and i knew I was gonna get it, but when I opened the box, it was a much more expensive model with detatchable speakers, a dual cassette deck and an AM/FM radio. along with some cool cassettes. The one I wanted was just a plain cheap, single cassette player with 1 speaker and no radio. I still have that stereo in my room right now, and I use it almost every day. [I have an adapter in one of the cassette decks so i can listen to CDs and MP3s on it, as well as all my favourite tapes.

I found the parents` youtube channel. I guess the kid asked for a 360 but they kept it a secret by telling him that "money was tight" and "maybe they could rent one for a weekend."

Poor kid. I`m glad he`s one of the lucky ones whose parents say that because of a surprise, not because it`s the truth :(.

Wow, so many homophobic comments from undernurtured jackassses who secretly wish their relationship with their parents was even close to that.

At that age, I`d be grateful for a piece of candy and my first thought would be to make sure either my sister got one too or I`d share mine with her.

On a side note: why wall-mount a TV above what could be used as a TV stand only to have wires hanging down from it anyway?

As for the people saying the kid is too young to play Halo: He`s not your kid. The parents know him better than you and are able to best judge whether or not he can handle playing Halo. When the time comes, I will most certainly let my son play the games he wants with proper supervision and age-appropriate discussions regarding video games. Although at 2, he`s a little young to be thinking about that just yet :]

I think it`s up to each individual parent to decide whether their child is "old enough" and not society to enforce it on them.

All that I have to say is very good parenting. Even though I`m only 17, I can see what a good kid he is. I was never that grateful of what I got, it just kinda was there. I hope when I ave kids they act just like that.

If you get a defective system, you might want to return the game in a not-grotesquely ripped box. Who knows if they`d even take it back at that point?

You always take precaution when opening things, as you might have to return them.

`nice kid, can`t help imagining if it were all a practical joke. "and I can keep it forever?", "not really, now, get your hands off it, we have to return it to the store by eight"`

That would explain why that guy kept saying "don`t wreck the box" throughout the video.

howdy, all... i am nik`s dad... i guess a lot of folks are wondering why I didn`t want him to wreck the box? :) Nik likes to destroy boxes on everything from cereal to board games... and for things like our computers, game consoles and photo/video stuff I save the boxes. And, for those inquiring minds at home, I hardly ever play it, it really is the boys box. The last time I played Crash Bandicoot was in January.
