Mayor Loses Job Over Sexy MySpace Lingerie Picture

Submitted by: fancylad 9 years ago in

When you think about it, it"s no worse than a bikini. Then again, what"s a mayor of a US city doing with a MySpace page?

It may be funny, but I think it`s ridiculous how people are persecuted for poo they do on MySpace and the like. It`s a personal page where you are honest (mostly) about yourself. You shouldnt have to constantly think about your personal things being leaked to the media. Our society is seriously going down hill if all we`re doing with our time is finding stupid things on the internet and ruining people`s lives and careers with juvenile highschool bull like this.

That said, what the hell is a Mayor doing with a MySpace, let alone half naked pictures on it? I understand the whole idea of privacy and her right to post them, but that`s just kind of stupid to begin with.

lol doodleduck. best not to spread porn sites around. but i think its wrong that she just lost her job because of a photo. if it had been a picture of her and her family in a bikini would it had made a difference?

It`s ridiculous that she lost her job over that. I hate the fact that a woman can lose her job if she`s seen as being sexually promiscuous, but a man will have no problem. It makes me furious.

Are most americans really this dumb? Should polititians have their suits welded onto their bodies when they get elected?

Kwame Kilpatrick (Mayor of Detroit, MI) has screwed things up even worse than that, and he`s still mayor. She should have kept her job, people wear bikines that looks similar.

Dude.... My google suggests porn instead of my name? That is funny.

Anyway thanks for the fix on moot. I tried it and it just looked so wrong to me, so I decided I was just weird and that it was actually mute.

but ya....

She wasn`t fired she was recalled. Fired implies someone higher up dismissed her, when in reality it was the voters that relieved her of her position.

Also the town isnt full of old people or uptight conservatives, as the newscaster said there were other issues and from the responses of the community it sounds like the golf thing and the pictures weren`t the full story.

And lastly I would`ve recalled somone with an attitude like that regardless of their pictures. A surprising number of our local polititions in Oregon seem to have attitude issues.

Knowing the way our local news works (and KATU is included in that) the photos were the straw that broke the camals back, but it peeks more interest if the photos are the reason. The fact that people didn`t

Oh and EstiloPanama, get off the high horse. Who are you to pick and choose who is worthy of being a role model. I`ll grant you Britney went off the hinges but before she met K-Fed, she was fairly wholesome and was often cited as a model for women`s empowerment.

Anyway, it seems from your examples that it`s impossible for women to be "empowered" (I hate that word) if they choose to pursue a career that portrays them as a sexual object. However, if they can`t do that, you do to them whatever the opposite of empowerment is.

Let everyone pick their own path, ok?

PS: Hillary is a cold, combative, calculating and unappealing character, and her biggest claim to fame is being married to a President - hardly an "empowering" achievement.

Big whoop! She looks good for an older lady, looks like she works out.

Don`t get me wrong, I`m all for holding stupid slutty girls who do Girls Gone Wild accountable by considering their "performance" as a part of a public image they`d bring to a company during the hiring (read as rejecting) process.

This is hardly the case though. It`s easily as much as one would expect to see on the beach. However, if she had any political smarts, she`d keep the image to herself, or only reveal it to real friends who would not be offended or share it.

That having been said, tiny towns where nothing ever happens love to make a big deal about nothing (especially since they couldn`t play golf instead).

This lady has some bad role models as a kid. This is why young girls should not be looking up to Ms. Spears, prostitites, strippers, and porn stars. This is why we need more woman like Hillary. Real women who are not afraid to be brave and intelligent...always using their brains, not their bodies.
That is true female empowerment.

The news casters felt the need to overdue their Powerpoint custom animation.
On another note, I loved their blatent notes.
"Do you regret posting that picture?"
"No, no it`s my space. That`s why they call it Myspace."
Narration: She says she doesn`t regret posting the picture.

First off, it`s not a huge city. Second, there are presidential candidates with a MySpace page so a mayor with one is not a big deal. Third, the picture wasn`t bad, she wasn`t naked or anything. The uptight old farts in that town need to get the corn cobs out of their asses and get over it. I hope she sells the hell out of the posters and makes a big success out of this stupid nonsense.

she was VERY attractive for a woman her age. i seriously think the people of the town were just jealous. i do like her response, (rough quote) "I don`t regret it. It`s MY space."

i mean, seriously, focus on all the little 14 year old whores taking pics in smaller underwear than THAT if you`re going to make a fuss about something on myspace.
and no, myspace didn`t make america`s youth into whores, it just gave them a way to express their already present whoreishness to the world.
i blame the disney channel.

penguinfogel, a mute point? A point that doesn`t make any sound or that can`t speak? I think you meant a moot point.

(Yeah, yeah; Grammar Nazi; whatever; it was a funny misuse of a word and I felt the need to point it out.)(Oh, and Google ABC check suggests pornographically in place of your screen name. I like that.)

i totally agree with you lauraly. cuz thats bs. its her myspace, and even if it is on the internet, being fired for it is bs. and i think somewhat actually i cant say that lol. if it was public it wasnt an invasion of privacy cuz its myspace but yea. bu thats just retarded. myspace should not be included in politics. if it is, ok cool. idc but people hsould not be fired for it.

was that a city vehicle? Looks almost like the fire department. Also living in Oregon I`ve heard about this way to much. Arlington is a small town by the way. Also I`m amazed the mayor has control over the local golf course there.

Anyway I know I wouldn`t want my town known as the town with that mayor who did the lingerie thing. She does have a private life and she is human, but what did she gain by posting it, and making it public? Anyway it was the voters choice and she doesnt have to do something illeagal to be recalled so wether they were right or wrong is a mute point.

I found this out.... she took the picture as a promo thing BEFORE she was even mayor. Her friend posted it on her myspace page, which she prob had before she was mayor as a hope of getting her more dates, and she saw nothing worng with it so she left it up. Im sure the people that were pissed about the golf course thing found this as an excuse to fire her. Plus... who the hell cares about anyone in Arlington, Oregon?

Whats a mayor doing with a Myspace page? More like whats everyone without a Myspace page doing without one? If we get enough normal people to get a myspace as a means to keep in contact, we will get rid of the obsessed emo freaks. Its an excellent way for politicians to show their stance, and to see how many people support them.

This is the second time in two days that I`ve heard of someone losing their job because of "sexy" photos. First of all, as a politician, she probably should have switched her myspace to private, but I don`t understand what the big deal is. She was standing on a truck in a cute underwear set, not making porno videos using taxpayer money to fund it. The picture wasn`t even for profit, it was just for her own pleasure so she could feel hot. (With a body like that, especially at her age, who can blame her?) People in this country really are too frigid and prude, and desperate for a scandal. Anything for the locals to have something to gossip about.

Kind of ironic - if she were a model previous, and came into politics afterwards, people would probably be spewing praise about how she`s `multi-talented` and you know she`d be all over magazines as they followed her progress. But because she`s a normal person it has to be made into a scandal? The picture wasn`t even dirty. In either situation, it shouldn`t be a big deal. People need to find more to do with their time. (I know I`m not one to talk, being on the computer and all, but oh well; I`m hopeless.)

People might have been upset, but there were no grounds for firing her. Plus did you see the majority of people in attendance at that meeting? Mostly fat, overweight, jealous people. My guess is it was a bunch of jealous, fat, ugly women, who got together and thier husbands that let them walk all over them.

This is just as bad as a top level executive being fired because her boss found her profile on fling.com saying she likes BDSM.

Why was she fired for that?
