Make no mistake, being bound to a wheelchair sucks, but if you have to use one, the iBot is definitely the way to go.

Kind of cheesy. Anyone seen Hannibal? The wheels on this thing are similar to the wheels of something he uses in there.

Somewhat cool, but I`d be scared to death to go up/down steps or curbs, or even to just be on only two wheels, period. Maybe I`m just paranoid about safety and that kind of stuff, but there is no way you would be able to get me to use that wheelchair. I would only do it if my life (or a loved one`s life) was in danger, or to avoid being extremely embarrassed.

I saw this years ago at Disney World (they also were demoing some early segways at the time). As much as it looks pretty nice the way it gets around on inconvenient terrain, I think it is best to have a self-powered chair as much as possible (so just use this thing when you are going somewhere that is not accessible). While these things increase handicapped peoples` independence from others, they do increase dependence upon technology, so you have to find a balance.

"It`s the segway remixed."

Actually, not too far off... same inventor!

Dean Kamen is awesome.

Wonderful invention, though I`m sure it costs a pretty penny more than the Segway.

Ahhhh but does it have ipod plug in?... THATS what i wanna know!

Actually this is pretty cool! and i commend the company that makes them! There needs to be more innovation in this field TBF.

makes me want one... although i would be wary on the 2 wheels thing.

Why do they need this thing to see eye to eye? There`s no reason that a normal electric wheelchair shouldn`t have an elevated seat at a thousandth of the cost.

I could just imagine a cheese sculpture sitting on one of those chairs. I`d probably punch it.

I want to know the battery life on these things.

MikkyChan, learn how to not capitalize every word, and then maybe what you say will have relavance.

Why the hell would you show a fat person on a commercial unless you wanted to warn about diabetes anyways?

This Is The Stupidest Thing I Have Ever Seen. I Would Be Embarrassed To Be Seen In That. I Think The Basketball Game And The Prom Is Stretching It A Bit Much. I Don`t Get How It Stays Balanced. I Mean It`s On Two Wheels. Shouldn`t The Person Have Tipped Over Or Something. And What About The Really Obese People In The iBot? All They Show Is Skinny People. How Much Weight Can It Hold? Seriously? Couldn`t Possibly Be More Than 300 Pounds.

That is freaking awesome. I`ve seen commercials for those and they rock.

Yeah, the eye to eye thing is a big confidence booster. I`ve been in a wheelchair before, and people tend to ignore that you`re there (or talk to you reaaalllyyy slllooowwwlllyyy) if you`re in a regular wheelchair.

Driving on the rough terrain also is great. Anyone who`s used a manual wheelchair knows how those darn front wheels get caught in the woodchips at a playground.

I wouldn`t use it, though. The two wheels thing would scare me. There are other wheelchairs that go up stairs, though (scary ones 0__0.)

HP placards suck, man. My bf and I went to Walmart onetime in his Miata, and we caught someone trying to graffiti his car. Seems they thought we were "faking it" or something so we could park close. The guy felt like a prick afterwards, though.

Yeah it must be the Segway technology... It`s basically sensors that detect the smallest change in balance and then turns a weight the other way to rebalance the thing.

This iBot is really nice but it looks pretty retarded... I`d rather be in a normal wheelchair, than in this :|

This is kind of old. It was what the people who made the Segway made before they made the Segway, using similar technology.

All it needs is some hydraulics and some neon lights unda da hood and you`d have a parapelegic that would get more arse than a puff daddy.

The fact that it can go up stairs. I was wondering about the time it is on 2 wheels.

And thanatos, whats so wrong about the dancing at the prom, saying its out of the question. Are you saying you cant go to prom if your in a wheelchair... there is nothing wrong with that.

okay... its a pretty cool product. but showing the prom date where the girl dances with the guy is just out of the question. even the basketball one seems too dangerous.

there were some other awesome uses for it in there, however. and im sure seeing eye to eye with a standing person is a big confidence booster
