Submitted by: fancylad 9 years ago Weird

Odd clothing that hit the runway at Milan, Italy"s 2008 Fashion Week. It"s good to see the Italians are so practical.

It`s basically the same thing with cars, except with somewhat less weirdness. And the model aren`t meant to be beautiful; that would distract viewers from focusing on the dress. Hey, I think that`s why these dress look so unusual, to focus our attention on them. Do I get the idea?

*Loves it!* some of the ones near the bottom are just ugly, but the rest are quite beautiful, would be brilliant to be able to wear one of those or even have one on my wall or something. *inspiration*

For only 5000 USD, you too can look like a poorly dressed 3-year-old.

IloveShoes pretty much expressed everything I was going to say. All of these `wacky` clothes are meant to be conceptual, not literal.

high fashion couture on the runway isnt supposed to be wearable it is supposed to wonderful and inspiring art. Sometimes it is beautiful, sometime sit is just strange but i think it is great. Italy inspires fashion for the rest of the world. it is pretty far ahead of the rest of the world in fashion It isnt meant for people to wear out on the streets and it really isnt mean for everyone to understand. other designers look at this for inspiration for the clothes that you all are wearing right now. The people who create this are so talented and creative. I love it and thik t is so inspirational. something like a flower on a certain color on one of those dresses could inspire a fashion trend for the next year. it is the basic ideas behind the clothes and what you can see in it beside what it really is, like a lobster on a dress, or an over the top hat.

I like the purple hat at the end, that was really interesting.

The rest of them just reminded me of 80`s clothes. Especially the acid wash jeans.

Judging by the models, my guess is that some of the designers could be Japanese - they are not necessarily representative of Italian fashion.

After seeing all those pictures of those ugly, freaky unwearable clothes that no one in Kansas or anywhere else in the world BUT Milan would wear, it makes me want to do like Dorothy and just close my eyes, click the heels of my ruby red slippers smartly 3x and repeat "There`s no place like home, there`s no place like home..." lololol

A lot of the things that make these odd are the accessories worn by the models. They are just for the fashion show. Just makes it more interesting.

The second image is actually of Isabella Blow, who was a British fashionista who discovered designers and models. She killed herself a few years back.

I`ll get them before they come into fashion. See...smart thinking. But I will look like a pillock for a year or so if they ever do come into fashion.

I can honestly see people wearing the stuff in row 7 (the three girls, two in extra shiny almost body suits). Or maybe wearing ridiculous things to tick the school administrators off was something only my school did =/ I sometimes like to believe that we are the ones that came up with mini-skirts and leggings (technically would cover dress code because there was something on your legs, school had to change rules this year to squash that). Shiny body-suits are obviously the next reasonable thing!

If you take away the cubes in picture number five, its actually a kinda cute outfit.
And the black dress... I feel really bad for the stylist. It belongs in a Halloween costume catalog. And the others- especially number 4- just suck.

You people this is supposed to be more of an artsy/fashion type thing. This isnt meant to be "This years hottest picks" or anything. But doing this the designers get attention and publicity for their brands.

i like the yellow dress with the shapes coming out of it. also, this stuff is never meant to be worn, and i think its mostly an exaggerated indication of fashion coming the rest of us

Now the lobster is nice. haha Its cute, I couldnt see it being worn anywhere other than the catwalk except maybe a ritzy party near the beach (you wouldn`t believe what those ladies wear sometimes.) but it`s cute. Minus the squid? thing on her head. Is it a hat? Maybe.

The bottom left, the black dress is ok. Kinda fluffy but it`s ok. I could see some goth kid wearing it to stand out if it didn`t cost about 50,000. (estimate)

Some of them are pretty ugly but that flower dress, the 4th picture down, is the ugliest thing on there. Looking at it makes me sad.

its like that outsider art thingys... its just crap put to getther with a prize tag :S
I`ve tried a billion times to see the art in this, once on a school trip to a museum of outsider art, there was this arist, and i asked her about what she had made and wat it was suppose to represent, and it didn`t make much sense...

I`m a creative person and this sux...
"art is just puzzle peices put to gether and its just a mather of time b4 they are all put together" well i suppose ppl have started to force the wrong pieces together :P

Soro, you`ve not been reading enough GQs. Milan is one of the five main Fashion Capitals of the world.

And I know art can be interpreted by everyone, and beauty is in the beholder`s eye, so the `art` on the show is individually defined.

But seriously. Lobster?

Ehh, it`s not like people actually wear this crap. Designers only do this so they can publicity for their brand, which is what is happening right now by putting this link up, lol.

And Lauraly, I don`t think Milan is one of them... But I`m pretty sure that Rome is one of the major fashion capitals of the world, also with Tokyo, Paris, NYC, and I believe LA.

All those GQs I`ve been reading has finally paid off, I guess. Lol

I wouldn`t want people who consider that to be art to tell me what`s fashionable.

I was watching something on TV, don`t remember what...but they covered another show in Milan, and the stuff was WAY different...there was a glass dress, Monster masks, you-name-it...It was just plain weird, and lacked fashion...

It`s couture, actually, which I suppose can be construed as a kind of art, or more specifically a luxury craft, and, no, these things are not ever meant to be worn anywhere except (not even photo shoots except for the event of the:) catwalk during fashion shows. That having been said, I liked the first one. The "kaleidescope of butterflies" (I know my collective nouns) hat!

its art... its not meant to be worn on the street but i gotta say i go to the highschool of fashion industries and ive seen them design better stuff than this sry to put down my fellow italians..

anyone who would want to wear that crap should be dragged into the street and shot.not to mention half of it looks less mobile than full plate armor

^ I`m sure there`s people over there watching and laughing at some of the dresses.

The only dress I can imagine being on the streets is #4. Even then it`s probably being worn by someone with no dress sense. Like how on earth did that fashion designer get away with that monstrosity.
