I`ve no intentions of putting my computer on the line for internet connection that (if it exists) is probably slower than dial-up.

Idiot who posted the video gets paid when it gets watched.

Simple formula:
Create a video that is ridiculously stupid + post it on IAB or some other site = get plenty of hits on that video!

It would have to be a pretty strong magnet to do anything to a computer.
My friend is an IT tech and he had a magnet that was strong enough as to where he could have it on one side of his hand, something metal on the other side of his hand, and it would stick.
Yeah, it messed up his math teacher`s computer screen real good.

Male 216
Oh come on guys, of course it`s real. We all know that internet access is directly related to the screen, so of course we`re gonna hook up that gadget to it.

Wow this a$$hole that made the video needs a life.

And I mistakingly got a magnet too close to my screen before (I was young and didn`t know any better), and it left this black, green-ish spot. I turned it off and it went away, but I think that might have been only because the magnet touched it for like half a second.

2. You will be a REAL dumbass

You have GOT to be kidding me. If you fall for this, you are retarded. Strapping an LED light to your monitor using a magnet and some tape will only ruin your monitor.

We want fresh, fun, videos, games and articles....provide them please...don`t waste my time with Celine Dion being an annoying b1tch, we don`t want the poo posted here...heck I rarely want AWwww of the day.

Get your site in order...

It actually works...
See...
The green LED emits a signal which goes back to your computer, which ALWAYS sends data back to your ISP, who monitors your activity. The triangle HAS to be red because red will even out the green from the LED, making the signal even stonger. The magnets are there only to hold the LED pins on the battery and do nothing to your computer.

Once your ISP receives the e-mail... their filters send/forward the "FREE FED WEB" e-mail to a higher tech who deals with gov`t internet supply, he then looks at the signal he is receiving from you. Since you are now on the same frequency as a legitimate federal computer, he will deactivate your internet and connect you to the governmental internet, which is at the tax payers cost. And you will still receive your bills, but they will be marked $0.00.

Seriously, I should know. I`m Canadian. haha
honestly...why the fu*k is this sh*t on I-A-B??? I don`t even know where to look for bullpoo like this o

Keep it up and completely lose a reader (one thats was almost lost anyway... and then actually log in and I see this crap)

I-am-bored.com is slowly turned into I-am-bored-but-i-already-saw-this-2-weeks-or-6-years-ago-and/or-its -some-complete-unhumorous-trash.com

My colors all look funny, but I did this, and got the email. I called up my ISP, and canceled my internet about 10 minutes ago, and I`m still online. So, yeah, it works.

And I`m pretty sure I can fix the monitor colors. I read something on wikipedia about a CRT hack using mercury and food coloring.

EDIT* I meant to say that the article has a procedure for degaussing monitors. Not that just reading the article will degauss your monitor.
0
Reply
Male 12
Most monitors nowadays have a degauss function anyway. Those that don`t can be degaussed by reading this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degaussing
Therefore, if you don`t have an LCD monitor and you were stupid enough to try this, it is possible to fix it.

Male 9
First of all, putting an LED on your monitor won`t affect anything... your monitor can`t scan for any light, and also it doesn`t send signals to the computer. furthermore a "ping" is a check for if the computer is active and also checks connection speed... please don`t fall for this scam. I`m surprised that it even got on i-a-b.

ffs for those who tried it and their moniter is drated up press two buttons on the panel the screen should shake and the monitor will be fine( trial and error some screens dont do this but most do and if you press two buttons and nothing happens try a different combo of two buttons they have to be pressed at the same time!)

Mossoi, yeah I know. The fatty magnet I had use to be next to a CRT. I swapped it out because it was taking up way to much room and figured I would update to DVI. But like I said, I might have amazing luck, that 5 inch radius magnet was sitting there for a little over a year.

"It would have to be strong enough to affect electrical signals. That or you could short the MB or even just affect the pin movement on the HDD."

You can damage a CRT monitor with magnets. They don`t have to be particularly strong to distort the cathode gun direction and cause temporary or permanent damage. LCD`s are completely different and aren`t affected in the same way.

Your HDD will be affected because it uses strong magnets to control the read/write head. Adding magnets will screw up how it accesses data.

Magnets that can remove the iron from your blood? Hmm, might want to check whether those exist ;)

Male 896
Oh, it just hit me, you guys might be arguing over the color change on the monitor. That one is an easy fix. Take the magnet and make like a flicking motion at it with it. So get it close to the spot and pull away fast. You can also make a sweep over it.

That`s the only thing magnets do to monitors. They wont short them immediately or cause them to explode.

Reply
Male 896
Umm magnets wont do poo. Maybe it`s just me just not only do I have my speakers right next to my screen but for about a year now I have had a 6 inch sub magnet by my monitor.

Maybe because it`s an lcd monitor but I doubt it. I have also placed a magnet on an old CPU before and nothing. The only place I could get it to do something was on my hard drive.

"i heard somewhere that the magnet needed to irreversably destroy your computer would have to be strong enough to pull the iron out of your own blood....
i may have heard wrong, though. and monitors do have different components than the rest of the package."

It would have to be strong enough to affect electrical signals. That or you could short the MB or even just affect the pin movement on the HDD.

"Snopes doesn`t have an article on this one, neither does Urban Legends, or Scambusters, so I`m still not 100% convinced it`s fake.

I`m 90% sure it is from the magnet on your monitor part."

They don`t mention it because it`s too obvious to waste time on. It`s a fake and a pretty bad one at that. If you want to make these spoofs then at least make them slightly believable so that somebody might try it.

Sees video, straps magnets to monitor, opens it up, And you just ruinned your screen permently.

haha. Good riddence.
