"Religion doesn`t try to promote violence"

Oh really?? Because last I checked, if you read through entire contents of say, the Bible (not just the popular, watered-down parts that they put in children`s versions) you will find TONS of passages that fully condone AND promote acts of extreme violence and/or murder in the name of God. If you don`t believe me, all you need do is pick up your nearest hotel room Bible and have a look through the more unpopular parts such as: Leviticus 20:9-"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him."

No matter whether its staged or not, I have to say hell yea... age discrimination pissed me off to no end, and still does to this day. Even if it is staged, I guarantee that kids CAN think on this level if given the chance rather than being treated like retarded dipshyts (yay censorship -_-) Oh yea... and religion is retarded too... but thats a whole other rant... *sigh

Oh you guys give it a break. Gettin your panties in a bunch for nothing. It was a little odd.. but give it up. Not your kid. Plus not everyone thinks the way you do. Dont expect them to.
She does bring up a valid point (even if it was her parent`s.) Religion has taken a lot more lives and killed a lot more than what the media blames today.. rap and video games. Only reason we see more of it isn`t because violence has gotten worse and more widespread.. its because the media has gotten more widespread and only announce that which deals with death, destruction, and sins. Hardly anything on the news is about something nice and kind nowa days its all about the negativity so by seeing this and only this we come to believe the world is far more corrupt than it really is.

Get outside and walk around people. Oi.

besides... its how you`re raised not what you see. (They`ve proven you are who you will be for the rest of your life by age 5.)

I`m sorry, this is crap. I hate O`Reilly myself, but come on. She`s being told what to say, and that in itself is sickening. It is obvious due to the fact that the thing is edited to hell and back.

Her parents will probably force her to believe what they want her to believe, not let her form her own opinions on how things should be. It really is sickening.

"Violence in music" hasn`t been around forever. I`m sorry, but Frank Sinatra never sung about smoking weed, killing cops, and degrading women. If her parents let her listen to rap music, they need to be shot. No exceptions.

The fact that IAB actually allowed this to appear as a contribution is just plain disturbing. Do you condone this behavior?

Seriously, f*ck you I-Am-Bored. F*ck you. Take this link down.

I thought like that when I was at a young age (not that young though)because my mother talked to me like a human and told me about what the world was really like. Her mother obviously had her do this, but she does have good points. violence in movies, video games, and music does have a factor in the violence today, but religion, drugs, alcohol and racism do too, often a lot more so. (im not saying that you shouldnt be/do these things, just dont get so violent over it)

"Whoever scripted this makes some good points, but that language was unnecessary for a little child. I go with `Older Brother` rather than `Mom` for the scripting, don`t know why, just strikes me that way. People who really want respect don`t use curse words to shock the internet for drat`s sake!

Honestly it`s not religions fault, it`s not sciences fault, it`s not the liberals fault or the conservatives fault. It`s being so set in your ways and being completely close minded that causes problems. Even more so when you feel the need to spread those narrow ideas as law that we have violence. People do not like being told what to do without options. violence in video-games causing violence in real life, I doubt it, but hey, it could be a possibility, evidence suggests it`s not though.

I`m surprised at the number of you that are STILL blaming the parents for this. Have none of you stopped to consider that a) she may not have parents (unlikely, but nevertheless possible) b) it may have been a sibling, or c) in my view, the most likely, she is an actress given the lines by the band members or band management.

Give it a rest.

Yeah I fall under that category too. But its really true. 13-15 is the most annoying age even though its just a phase everyone goes through. Teens generally in that age group think they know everything and are so clever when they actually are talking about things they know nothing about. They strive to sound intelligent at every oppurtunity. They have it in their heads that they are smarter then everyone and so different and unique and nobody understands them.

But this was really random and off topic so I`m just gonna stop now

And it`s not even her points, just some messed up parent twisting their kids head, dressing them all weird, spoiling them, and teaching them cuss words at an age less than six?
Honestly. This is really messed up in so many ways.

Ah, the blame game. Everyone loves to do it. Just point to the nearest blame-able object and blame it for all the wrongs in the world. Jack Thompson, you devil, you see what trouble you cause with your anti-video game crusade? As the same with you Bill O`Reiley. You both made a little girl swear, or in more correct terms, you forced a parent to force their kid to swear.

Pretty valid points, but some games and some music really do seem to produce violent feelings and thoughts, but i still think it`s the parents fault for kids gone wrong from music and video games. They should control what their kids play. I`ll admit it`s harder to control music, but for video games? C`mon, everything with guns is now rated M, which means, unless your kid has acquired a fake ID, they can`t get it. So don`t get it for them if you`re gonna complain about how it made them violent later.

Yes, religion can be quite fearsome. Witch hunts in the early days, and the holocaust was pretty much religion oriente

Lumpychump, a few points:

1. Hitler was, in fact, religious.

2. Ever heard of the Crusades? You can`t honestly suggest that religion has never caused violence. Or what about the Salem Witch Trials? Or, maybe I`m not remembering correctly, but there was this one big religiously-driven event that killed a few thousand people in 2001 if you get my drift.

3. Non-religious people don`t have morals, because they don`t feel they have to answer to their crimes? Quite the opposite, religious people say `Jesus still loves me no matter what I do` whereas the atheist must be 100% responsible for his own actions. The atheist is a good, law-abiding citizen because he chooses to be, not because he`s afraid his deity will set him on fire.

Secondly, who cares if this is a band promotion? Yes, perhaps shameless, but the clip raises very good points which are obviously the views of the band members and/or band management etc. Views which I completely agree with, save for the obviously tongue-in-cheek Family Guy mention.

What I ask really, is for people to be a little more open-minded about these things, as I like to think I am about religion in general. I don`t believe in a God or a higher power, which is my right to do so, and I also believe that religion is the cause of most wars/conflicts/etc, however... I do respect the views of those that do. Without wishing to sound like an cliche, I think we all need to listen to one another with OPEN EARS. Enough with the "God exists" "No he doesn`t"; this debate will rage on and on ad nauseum. Instead, think about proving it to each other.

Firstly, what `terrible language`? I read a few early comments about how "I wouldn`t let my child swear like that etc." and puzzled, watched it again. Not once did I hear what I would classify as swearing. In my view, she could have said an awful lot worse than a few statements deemed blasphemous by a fair few people here. Well done GothicQueen for pointing out what I hope the intelligent among us think, i.e get over it.

A child will be exposed to curse words from a great deal of sources over the course of his or her life, so why do parents consistently feel the need to screen their child from it in the vain hope that they will never learn to swear? Of course, it is undesirable for your child to burst out with a curse word in a restaurant for example, but this is an entirely different situation. i.e, this young lady is a child actor, and a very good one to boot.

cont.

Also, the whole, "Kids should be taken seriously and respected". Bill O`Reilly (Sp?)wrote a popular book "Kids are Americans Too". Now while I`m all for that, kids are possibly the most annoying people on the planet. Around the 13-15 ages are just horrible because they don`t know what the hell they are talking about. 12 years old is the best because they are like little Buddhas who have little nuggets of truth that seem to slip out of their mouths. Sad thing is, I said 13-15 are the worst... I`m in that category. But, self criticism only make things better.

Hey! I`m Republican. Comparing the Republican party to Nazis just shows how credible the source is. Now I know it`s popular to make fun of Republicans (many times for very valid, and hilarious reasons) but you must remember the GOP is in a reformation period. There is the B.R. (before Regan) Republicans and the A.R. (After Regan) Republicans. Now anyone who says Ronald Regan wasn`t the best president ever will have to answer to me! XD Anyway, my point is... it`s a party in reform. The mantra is, "We`ll give you some help (social services) but you have to do most of it on your own." Not exactly a very warming thing to say, and there is always exceptions that are heart breaking to see, but I guess that`s why conservatives are so unpopular.

it`s for a BAND who is trying to say that children should be taken more seriously as humans, and showing that music and videos games don`t make kids violent.

it`s so socially excepted to cram religion and etc. down your childs throat but try teaching them the TRUTH and letting them form their own opinions about life and suddenly you`re brainwashing your kid and ruining them

Hm. Maybe I`m just too used to swearing but the only thing I noticed was her saying god damn :/

I don`t really consider that a swear..

Anyway, of course music and video games don`t have anything to do with violence. I just spent like 5 hours playing Oblivion and killing stuff, and I have no urge to go find a sword and slice someone up. I also listen to ICP, which besides being violent, can also be very disturbing (although I like it <3).

So yep. I don`t think it matters if it`s scripted or not. And Bill O`Reilly sucks balls. He`s a douche who can`t listen to other people`s points ov view.

One extreme is the First Baptist Church Of Topeka (there`s been posts about them here before, I`m sure of it).. Here`s a really good documentary about it.. .. Look for yourself.. see what extreme views do to children.. Granted the views expressed in this video are the complete opposite, but they`re no better.. Wars are fought over land and resources, not religion. Some people have used religion to confuse the masses in to war, but in the end, it`s about land and resources (the Crusades, the wars over the Holy Lands and access to it). Tispayne, I disagree. Name one war that America has been in that was about religion? Revolution? 1812? Spanish? WWI or II? Korea? Veitnam? Gulf I or either conflict now? Please explain. As for the video, I think the point was that certain pundits today use religion to confuse people. I do not believe in any religion and to say I would be a better person if I did (as suggested by these same pundits) is not only false, but slightly insulting. I`m not saying religion doesn`t help people, I know many cases where it has. Just don`t tell me a lesser person because I don`t believe in your religion.

First, this is really, really old. Second, it`s not real. It`s a video for a band. It was not made by anyone`s parents. In fact, I think it was the singer`s sister--not sure.
And about the language... I was using that sort of language when I was that age. When you have an older sibling, and parents that really don`t care about that sort of stuff, it`s hard to avoid. It`s not a big deal. I mean, I would rather my kids know that sort of language than be watching some mind-f*ck film with all sorts of violence in it.
Really, people. I can`t believe you didn`t see this on youtube. It was all the rage for awhile.

Just to get this out of the way: No, an eight-year-old didn`t come up with this on her own. Freaking duh. They`re not trying to pull a fast one on you, believe it or not! This isn`t a liberal plot to foil those crazy conservatives! (kudzu, I`m looking at you.) But if you look at history, all religions are rife with examples of violence, because someone somewhere eventually says, "My God is better than yours, and if you don`t agree with me, I`m going to beat it into you." The Crusades, for instance--all twelve of them (and that`s just the major ones). Very few religions can peacefully accept that not everyone agrees with them. Don`t believe me? Talk to someone that isn`t of your religion. There are very few instances when I`ve discussed my religious affiliation with someone who didn`t share it and have them not try to convert me. So it isn`t anti-religious, per se, but anti-zealousness. PS? I found it dratin` hilarious when the girl cussed. I liked the song at the end, too. He

Cute how she`s being controlled by her brother/older brother, who`ll get his ass kicked by his parents for making her curse. Also cute how she doesn`t know how to say godd4mn, which proves scripted right there.
1. Rap music sucks anyway. Don`t stick the label on it, though. All music is violent, it always has been. It just got covered up more before.

2. Video games don`t affect the kids` mind to be violent unless they have a learning disability or they`re just plain stupid/retarded. If anything, it helps the kid get over the fear of violence so if they ever get in a situation like that, they don`t curl up into a little ball and cry.

3. Religion doesn`t try to promote violence. Christianity, Catholicism, Muslim and Jewish all , from what I know about them (not much besides Christianity) DO have some violence in their teachings to show the PAST of things. Not to promote it.

I`m kinda sick of people blaming religeon for violence. Was Hitler religeous? Pol Pot? How about Stalin? Or Kim Il Sung or Kim Jung Il? Moreover, it was religeous people who campaigned for the end of slavery, for the right to free education and (in the UK) free healthcare. It was also the religeous who made the loudest noise during the civil rights campaigns in the `50s and `60s. Of course people have abused religeon in the same way that people abuse politics in that they use it to pursue power at whatever cost. Or they sometimes use it as a front for their own personal prejudices. But the majority of religeous people make a stand against injustice and poverty. Also, much of the injustice, suffering and poverty in the world is created by the irreligeous, the greedy, the arrogant and the hedonists who believe that they will never be accountable for their actions.

the only point you have to see in this one is:

It`s to easy to blame children. So O`Reilly, go picking on something your owne size.
and
It is deffinatly NOT childrens fault the world is messed up, because the world isn`t any more messed up than it was in the past!

damn hippies!

It`s amazing how smart her dad is to know where the pause button on his cam corder is so he can coach his brat kid because she`s not smart enough to come up with that on her own. What`s also amazing is that, Liberal Dumb Asses like this think Conservative Right Wingers like us can`t spot the deception. That`s what makes Liberals, idiots and Conservatives, smarter.

I hate precocious children.

I hate scripted, precocious puppets even more.

Debating it is a moot point, it`s not the child`s point of view anyway.

Quite anti-religion. But otherwise she has valid points.

I dunno, some people just grow up violent, no matter what they watch on TV or to whom they listen to.

all this effort for another anti-religion rant, and a shameless plug for a band.

lol has anyone noticed some of the things they put in fairly oddparents? Not complaining, I think its funny and the kids probably dont get it anyways, but timmy was in different channels and he was in an episode of simpsons, and he said "wow what is it with this place, this station makes adults stupider [referring to fox]" lol....they also hit a french guy with a water balloon and he just yelled out "ah we surrender". I love that show lol

I think the point she was trying to make is that turning to christianity will not cure the violence and everything else wrong with this country as Bill O`Reilly would have you believe.

wow, being a parent myself, regardless of her good points (which I`m sure she didn`t come up with on her own) I would never alow my child to use language like that. The next thing you know you`ll be getting a call from the principal and she`ll be saying "but mommy told me it was okay"

Whoever scripted this makes some good points, but that language was unnecessary for a little child. I go with `Older Brother` rather than `Mom` for the scripting, don`t know why, just strikes me that way. People who really want respect don`t use curse words to shock the internet for drat`s sake!

See what I did there? XD

True, She did make some good points about how kids need to be treated with a little more respect, but that doesnt mean taking away religion entirely,

Yes we all know how everyone is being pushed to hard into one thing or another but that doesnt mean you should completely subside it

oh and P,S, her mom did a really good job directing it and putting her 8 y/o girl on there saying a bunch of cuss lines, great way to get your point through

Ya, but don`t forget...she is a little kid. Like it bothers me to think people forget that.

No matter how cool/adult/genius she sounds the fact that she is a little kid does not go away. It`s a fact that things that happen when your a kid are more lasting in their effects then things that happen as an adult. Even physically her brain is not 100% finished developing.

Dude, she`s just a kido.

Setting ideology aside (difficult, I know, but just do it for a minute), I find it pretty sad that a band has to have a little kid cussing in an internet video just to promote themselves. Regardless of how popular they`ll get if/when this goes viral; frankly, I don`t believe the "good" attention would be worth the flak.
And there will be flak. Oh Yes...There Will Be Flak.

Even if it was scripted, shes completely right... When i have children, ill talk to them like a human being about violence, drugs, sex, and alcohol and all the good/bad sides to it.. then ill let them play any damn game/music they want.
